QUOTE(Blofeld @ Apr 15 2012, 02:47 PM) Sean Connery = cool, humorous, suave, playboy What do you think of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (OHMSS) ? George Lazenby = trying to imitate Sean Connery (personally I felt he smiled too much in that movie) Roger Moore = cool, corny and humorous, relaxed, playboy Timothy Dalton = dark, vengeful, too serious Pierce Brosnan = cool, humorous, suave, playboy Daniel Craig = cool, serious, suave Sean Connery will always deemed to be the best as he is the first James Bond. George Lazenby just imitated Sean Connery. Nothing special about him. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « My favourite James Bond would be either Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan. IMO OHMSS was such a wasted potential, if Connery was in it it would probably be the best Bond movie ever. It has great plot, great soundtrack and great action sequence, the only thing bad about the film was the Bond actor himself, but I don't blame Lazenby since he wasn't an actor in the first place, iinm he was a model..I blame Connery for refusing to be in it Nevertheless, OHMSS is still one my top favourite Bond film.. if Connery was in it, I think it would be my favourite Bond film ever |

Quite a let down for me, first half of the film was incredible and I was ready to give it a 10/10, but after Silva was captured and they got back to London it just turned into a snoozefest for me. Got cheered up a bit when the DB5 appeared and Bond mentioned about the ejector seat, but that whole sequence at Bond's childhood home was really boring.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « And I don't get what's all the craze with Javier Bardem's performance. IMO he looks like a pretty weak villain. Daniel Craig's performance in this film is way better than him imo. Overall 7/10. Casino Royale still remains as the best modern Bond film for me. Skyfall isn't even close on being on the same level as Casino Royale. Also if I can nitpick: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

Although it seems highly unlikely now, I hope Sam Mendes won't be returning to direct future Bond films.
IMO he's more suitable directing drama films, not Bond films. That's what Skyfall is actually, it's more of a drama, rather than espionage/spy film. I hope either Martin Campbell would return or just take Nolan, although the latter is unlikely since he's planning on rebooting the film if he's directing. If Sam Mendes will still be directing then fine, but make it more of a spy film. No more storyline about character's past coming back to haunt, or character's origin or anything like that. |

QUOTE(reehdus @ Nov 6 2012, 09:38 AM) I think it was an interesting take. We were waiting to see when we'd see Q and Moneypenny and the formation of MI6 as we've come to know. I do agree with your take though, it was not a spy movie. There were no xray glasses/exploding pens etc, no flights of fancy that we've come to expect from Bond films. Heck, there wasn't even a Aston Martin DBS, and that was used consecutively in both previous movies. A film doesn't need xray glassess/ exploding pens to be a spy film. Just look at Casino Royale or From Russia with Love, it doesn't have all those wacky gadgets but it still feels like a spy film. What Mendes did was bridge the gap between the current Bond and the past Bond. He helped us establish the platform for future Bonds, and I think he feels his job is done. He hasn't expressed interest in the next ones though. Yeah I agree about Mendes establishing platform for future Bonds. That last scene at the Mi6 office really makes me excited to watch more bond films, I just hope it won't be like Skyfall but return to being a spy film. BTW I don't mean that Bond movie shouldn't have any drama film elements at all, it just needs to be a spy film first, drama film second. Skyfall feels like it was drama film first, spy film second. |

QUOTE As expected, Christoph Waltz will join the film, but his role was not officially revealed. The official @007 Twitter account indicates that he will be called Oberhauser, although he's generally expected to play Blofeld. hmm maybe, » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

I think people who preferred Skyfall, the The Dark Knight-esque, gritty, realistic take on Bond are surely gonna dislike Spectre.
I think the producers heard about the gripes a lot of old time fans of the series had with Skyfall and decided to do a fan service for these spectrum of fans and gave us Spectre. So I think it's a win-win situation, gritty realistic fans got Skyfall, Bond fans who wants gadgets and all other old school Bond tropes got Spectre. People who pointed out the plot holes or illogical actions by characters on Spectre, just go to IMDB etc. I'm sure there's a list for Skyfall as well. Casino Royale (2006) is the only movie that I think managed to balance out old school Bond tropes and gritty/realistic stuff, so it was loved by both types of fan including me. I'd definitely recommend Spectre to any Bond fans, but not to Skyfall fans. Anyway I watched it on IMAX, why did they censored.. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by Claire Farron: Nov 7 2015, 03:20 PM |
