Have you all thought that racism in DotA is caused by racism in real life, in Malaysia.

Look at this situation okay.

Coward Chinese were always insulted and bullied by Malay in real life. They did not have the guts to stand for their rights in real life. So in the end what do they do? They transfer that hate to somewhere nobody will know them, a place that they think they are good at it, DotA.

It takes 2 hands to clap.

Trust me, racism is almost everywhere in Malaysia. Almost everyday in real life I would hear Malays insulting Chinese, and almost everyday I would see Chinese insulting Malays in DotA.

I'm not trying to say that ALL Malays and Chinese are like that, but there are a large number of them like that.

The conclusion is, both sides are in the wrong, but it would only cause discomfort to victims like you, tajul182.

Then change. Dont just hope for change...start changing yourself and do something about it. The world is not gonna wait for us Malaysians to change our bad habits.

... Donno lor... this happen because no multiracial involvement in life.. Happen in both Malays and Chinese.. U can see for urself in life.. Malays with Malays. neigbouring with malays only. and chinese with chinese. but for my experience this is not happen.. Maybe because i've been with the indians and chinese as my next door neighbour and my best fren.Thus i can accept majority of the things although it's different in culture except certain things that cant be done in my religion.. But some of them (malays) such an idiot, they even have a superstitious thinking, even wishing Happy deepavali is forbidden.. Haizz.. This extreme thinking of religious is one of many factors where racism is happening..


Government should take important steps on it i think..

it's because there is a bigger evil in our country. It just shows malaysia has a lot of mentally ill people, people with a lot of resentment and anger, and it comes out in game - a place they can vent their anger.

It's very complex, I am not racist myself, but I have met many chinese AND malays who are racists.

You got your 'malay national schools' and 'chinese medium school'... good brew for racism. And politicians in our country who use racism to divide and control do not help either.

Perhaps you can make a stand by not being racist yourself, and educate your own kids in the future not to behave that way.

You should try to play Singapore games. I used to play with Singaporean players frequently 2 years ago, it seems like they hate Malay and Malaysians very much.

Well i have to say this is very true, from which 5year i experienced in my secondary Malays well not all but they seem to chinese as a joke, especially our language if you dont know it dont speak like you do! Even a small kid on the street did that when he bumped some chinese. Have no idea how they actualy lecture kids before school.

Same thing over chinese school, you actualy wouldnt miss a racism scene on others. Im tired of it, as usual i just act like nothing happened.

For DotA, i have a few Malay mates to play with and they often got threaten bad ingame but we just leave it except it gone too far and we gona fight back

One thing is, its a game try as much as possible not to be rude as them(racist player) what different of both side if you replied the same way they reply to you? And its a game! Concentrate on the gameplay, ignore the words, show them what you realy have to do after you or your parent pay so hard for internet and electric bills

i just keep my hand and finger on the shortcut key and mouse, and just read the game related msg only and ignore the rest. if every one do this, no one know who u are, Malay, Chinese ,Indian , vitet or Singapore, just stick to the game, cos u stared dota for the game and to further develop u the skill in the game. and not to be a racism. if i whant to be racism i join politic not only it pay better they no lever and wasting time for a full room.

It's interest to note that racism exists everywhere in the world but it depends how much of it is tolerated. I think people create stereotypes by nature and are some stereotypes are based on race. The fact that most people don't show this out explicitly is due to a few internal and external factors like the upbringing, the level of education and the level of social tolerance.

However, I think the real problem in the above situation is that the players are anonymous and hide behind a screen, thus able to avoid responsibility for their actions. This is also apparent in many other online sites like youtube where people are able to spam irresponsible statements. Same as in WC.
