QUOTE(willa @ Nov 15 2008, 01:11 PM) if can, really try to go abroad rather than studying in local uni i would love for u to further define ur statement.local colleges in m'sia r much more better than local uni lets start with "IPTA are in the THES ranking while IPTS are nowhere to be found". QUOTE(EmperorMeng @ Nov 15 2008, 01:16 PM) A1. look at attendance la . with some lecturers, the attendance is almost 100% . why? coz attending their lecture is nt a waste of time. while some lecturers comes in the 1st lecture with this: err... yes? not sure what u're implying here 1. buy the text book 2. spend 10 hrs a week study urself 3. do all tutorial. and proceed to read his OHP A2. depends entirely on subjects. we have a fair share of all. this is just academic wise. there should be many other reasons tht can make one to choose to study overseas @ azarimy. ur also a lecturer relating to my earlier statement, in my experience, i've taught students who strongly prefers to work alone/independently. i have no problems with that, as long as they deliver at the end of the project or semester. but if the same student complains that "lecturers are useless", memang makan gua punya kaki lor QUOTE(lilredridinghood @ Nov 15 2008, 02:58 PM) how so? if u look at the architectural association (AA) school in london, the students have an election to elect their head of school. u cant get any stronger than that Added on November 15, 2008, 11:01 pm I can accept lecturers who don't speak good English, but not lecturers who are unprepared and only read entirely from the slides. I have one lecturer like that this semester and believe it or not, I think he's a goner next semester. the power of Vic Uni students or NZ students |

when i was studying in london, i have 2 flatmates: a guy from jordan of palestinian descent, and a spanish guy of japanese descent.
we get along great. i'm still close with both of them. the palestinian guy studied archaeology, quite good looking, and also the vice warden in the place i was staying. every other night he'll bring home a different girl, and occasionally we can girls screaming from his room. the japanese guy, on the other hand, is desperate for a girlfriend. he speaks english, spanish and japanese fluently, and a little bit of french and german. he is very social, but could never get a girl home. he's not that bad looking either. always hangout my room talking about his miserable social life. all of us get along just fine. we clearly define our boundaries, especially on food. since both the palestinian and i are muslim, we compartmentalize our fridge from the jap's. he's not a big fan of cooking, most of the time i cook stuffs for him, coz it's easier that i dont have to worry about halal stuffs. however, the jap moved out after 8 months. in came a PRC guy who could barely speak english. somehow that made him less social with us. he invaded our fridge with alot of pork, used our utensils to cook pork and so on. we repeatedly explained to him about our "needs", he seems oblivious and always assumed that we're trying to convert him to Islam hahaha! i didnt stay long after that. after finishing my masters, i quickly moved out. i heard my palestinian friend kicked him out of the flat not long after that |

QUOTE(P.I.M.P @ Nov 19 2008, 01:23 PM) You should compare the purchasing power in every country instead of the price of things. How much stuff you can buy with a dollar. That's what matter most. i AM talking about purchasing power. buck for buck, living cost in most cities in the UK is comparable to australia. big australian cities like sydney and melbourne can be more expensive than the UK (except for london, edinburgh or birmingham). |
