Hi! I'm an AUP student too except I'm transferring to Canada this Fall, even sooner than you.

Well Nebraska-Lincoln is a very popular choice for INTI AUP students, due to the entrances scholarship of $10k, I know a lot of Actuarial Science students going there (the student advisers completely brain-wash them, the only uni they know is UNL ....)
I got you UNL's cost & tuition fee website:
http://admissions.unl.edu/cost/
One year's cost would total about $30k, yeah RM100k plus a year...

I think loan should be your last resort though, you should probably work on campus to earn some $$ and as an engineering student, take advantage of any internships available or work/study programs, co-op programs. During summer holidays, work your butt off, you'd be able to raise a reasonable amount of cash, plus some financial help on your parents side, you'll do ok.

Why not instead of UNL, try looking into the State University of New York (SUNY) system, or California State University (Cal State) they're cheaper. For transfer students, I think SUNY Buffalo offer some kind of scholarship (small ones bout $2k I think) or Cal State Pomona, I heard its tuition fees are really reasonable.

Language-wise just speak more, and read more, and you can probably watch some American TV programs as well.

Major in Commerce (parent's choice), going to Vancouver to study.
Yeah I picked Canada for the ease of getting a PR, safety (no guns), environment ( Vancouver is one of the best cities to live in, in the world according to surveys), also cheaper fees and other personal reasons.
And if I have the urge to go to US later, I'd just hop over the border (to go to grad school), US is just next door, I've relatives in US and my sis is going to study there next year, so no sweat.

Hmm well maybe you should look into Californian State Universities, there's another university system, in New York, City University of New York (CUNY) system, the fees are also reasonable, not sure about the reputation though but if you want to go to the Big Apple, their fees are rather reasonable.

I think you can check your college's study plans to see which credit can transfer.

Yeap UC is more elite, more difficult to get in, you need year 12 I think (we Malaysians only have 11 years of education hence you'll need A Levels or STPM to get into the UCs)
CSU are easier to get in and cheaper too.
CCs, are Community Colleges, works the same as ADP/AUP

I see thanks, an international warranty would suffice, I thought I lost out buying my laptop here cause everyone is telling me that buying laptops in the states is cheaper.

Ooo its easier to find a life partner in Canada? How so?

You better wake up to reality. What ever you are smoking is potent. Vancouver is safe??? . Vancouver is facing an all gang war. Whites, Punjabis and Chinese are killing one another over the control of drugs. No guns?? You never heard of BC pot(ganja) for Us guns trade.?? Want to read more . Goto www.cbc.ca  Click on Canada and then BC. Latest headline...2 men found dead in a car. Use the CBC search engine and type in "vancouver gang war". and  start reading. Innocent people had been caught  ...at the wrong place at the wrong time. Better shed the fairytale image of Vancouver

Lol well yes I have heard of the gang wars happening in Vancouver, since you brought it up, I'm assuming you're living there? If you are, are these happening all over Vancouver or is it confined to certain areas? Any advice on places to avoid?

Of course I'm not saying Vancouver is perfectly safe, it's the same everywhere, there's always the risk of certain elements that poses danger to oneself, Malaysia we have our mat rempits, UK their football hooligans, Australia have racism problems, same with US and most multi-cultural countries.
If I wanted to live a fairytale I would have gone off to live in some European castle.
Still I think Canada is a notch safer than US due to their restrictions on guns. But if you have anything to share (as a resident there), please do enlighten me.
