WoW is a mmoRPG based on DOTA, but not as popular DOTA. But its doing quite well. Warcraft 3 is just a map mod for DOTA, nobody plays it anymore.

WoW is like DOTA with some RPG and persistent elements. Also retired WoW players usually play DOTA 4-6 hours a day.

Call of Duty 4 is like DOTA also but with guns and first person 3D.

Little Big Planet is like DOTA in the sense that you can build your own levels using the editor.

Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball started from DOTA but comes with a lot of bouncy balls.

Warhammer Online is also from DOTA, but with less players.

uhh.. they got a figure of 10-12mill of subcribers because they can count thru accounts that ppl made... but dota is free leh.. not everyone is playing WoW in msia.. maybe 70-80% or more plays dota more than wow? not sure of other country tho... but i think dota 100% got more players.. cant count got how many cuz they dont register or anything to play it. go every cc in msia... maybe 8/10 all dota de... gila wan. sometimes if i go cc play.. im the only 1 playing wow, others playing dota.. can hear them shout n curse like gila... lolz
