A question to anyone who uses openSUSE.
Does anyone know whether I can install it on a hard disk without having to reformat it - if a partition out of the existing free space can be created before its installation, it would be helpful if you can link me to any how-tos. Been looking for it but I don't quite understand what needs to be done.... EDIT: Nevermind, found a solution. However I'm not too keen on doing it, maybe I'll try it some other time ._. Just to repeat a question I posted in the Official Ubuntu thread:
Anyone here uses KDE 4.5 in their distro? As in upgrading your KDE into it? How's the performance? I find KWin to be lacking in performance for my laptop, which is a disappointment since I upgraded straight from 4.4.2, which handled my laptop without much problem. And yes it is a KWin-specific problem that I had to make KDE use Compiz as window manager instead; and poof the lags went away without a hitch. EDIT: It turns out that KWin's desktop effect "Blur" is the culprit behind this. No wonder la so slow one! This post has been edited by FlameReaper: Aug 16 2010, 02:39 AM |

QUOTE(scorps @ Sep 10 2010, 01:24 PM) why linux mint can have audio and video codec to play video, music but not ubuntu? Linux Mint is a mix of free software and proprietary software, unlike Ubuntu which restricts itself to (mainly) free software. Most audio/video codecs that we know of have a proprietary license, in which we must install the necessary packages first to play them.on ubuntu, we need to do some of apt-get update to play some media file, while on linux mint ,that not necessary,it's already comes with live packages |

QUOTE(megahentai @ Sep 13 2011, 12:09 PM) Eh? You founder of that distro ka? QUOTE(-Hzu- @ Sep 11 2011, 11:06 AM) With enough obsessive interest, it is not surprising that one can lift a pen and doodle decent things from it. And... uh, my experience with some natives (guess where) proves a lot otherwise Well, maybe someone needs to create a distro called ArtLinux or something, where it fulfills certain user groups' digital art needs...
