@ ichigo,
most of the 24" LCDs in the market are pretty good nowadays....samsung, dell, LG, Viewsonic, etc etc...and there's no point comparing which is the "bestest of the bestest"... LCDs are mass manufactured, and hence there would be some defects, if u r unlucky to receive a faulty one... also, nowadays, when newer models are out, who knows, u may wanna sell ur current "bestest of the bestest" LCD for the next " bestest of the bestest" one...so no point if it could last 5 years, or 8 years, or 50 years... forumers here provided u some examples of brands which they believe, at that time, the best they had seen....no problems with that...they're only offering suggestions...it's whether u wanna take it or not...since u asked here, ppls suggest la...doesn't mean u must take/buy... in the end of the day, it's you yourself who can only determine what u what to get, after u view the all the other LCDs...and if u already know what u wanna get, then no point asking ppl in this thread... we're here trying to help each other...and please...no fanboy-ism here... QUOTE(chiakm @ Feb 9 2009, 12:55 PM) Are there any Dell S2409W users here? Can give some feedback and comments on this particular monitor? I've gotten 1 a coupla days ago. IMHO, if u want the "best bang for ur bucks", this lcd IS for u...haven't really fiddled with the settings yet, since out of the box, I found it abit on the bright side...mebbe because my surroundings are always dim....or no lighting at all...adjusting the contrast did the work. i'm just regular user, so no complaints whatsoever on the display side...as for the audio, read that they have some "fade-out" issues, when using the built-in speakers....u need to ask yourself, is it necessary to use the built-in speakers!!??? highly unlikely, if u want good sounds...imho. visually wise, i'm all for it, for that amount of cash u r paying, there's no competition...of yeah...it's slightly "washed out"...but adjustments can be done anyhow... still confused? ask yourself: 1) wat usage? daily usage? photographic usages? 2) daily - TN panel, photographic - VA/IPS 3) if TN, lotsa brands in the market; if IPS, dell, nec, others 4) budget? 5) if TN and cheapskate like me, it'll be dell, s2409w, if got $$$, sammy or others 6) if IPS, and cheapskate, 2209WA (no offence to users This post has been edited by ravewar: Feb 9 2009, 01:33 PM |

QUOTE(mememe12 @ Feb 10 2009, 05:05 PM) erm.. i m monitor-noob.. going to ask some repeat question... photo editing.....better opt for at least an VA panel, or the IPS type....else u may not get the correct colour reproduction that u(or ur client) require...ihmo Monitor less than RM1k at 24inch.. any brand to recommend? i see a lot ppl recommending Dell 2409W.. is there any brand tat is same or better than 2409 but price below 1k? such as viewsonic? samsung or ... My usage is: Photoshop photo editing, see Movie what shud i look for in a monitor that fulfil my requirement? Added on February 10, 2009, 5:24 pm QUOTE(Zhou @ Feb 10 2009, 01:05 PM) ![]() ![]() All pics r taken by my Dell S2409W and ati X1950pro(T_T) I wonder graphic card play the role of the quality of the pic not? Sweat sweat.....lagging in my game actually.... I'm also using x1950pro....prior to using the s2409w, i had used 2 17"acer lcds, but used only 1 unit to play games (dawn of war)....can run ar full 32bit....but with the s2409w, with 32bit, there're some text corruption during the gameplay... so imho, g/f cards do affect....and i'm kinda disappointed with the 1950pro... QUOTE(Invince_Z @ Feb 11 2009, 10:27 AM) regarding this. well, TN panels are actually not bad, they have high response time, but they have the issue of inconsistency in colour reproduction and limited viewing angles...whereby ppl in the, say, advertising businesses, have very strict colour requirements...that's why they utilize colour systems such as pantone, etc etc....requirement: one with good color gradient, color reproduction, at least 5ms response time (they all 5 except for viewsonic, which is 2ms), not too bright nor too dark...just nice is ok, foor the outlook glossy finish is prefered and white glossy most prefered. usage: gaming, movies, editing pictures + vids, normal usage. what about the colour quality? so..TN is shit in color reproduction? a slight change of variation will result in totally different hues of shades and/or discolouration, and may inherently cause them to lose their accounts etc etc.... VA/IPS panels are never known as gaming panels all this while...and their price range are always on the high side...only recently, we have such "gems" at "affordable" prices.... so in the end, it's best to depend on personal peference...... the malays have a saying....tepuk dada, tanya selera... |

QUOTE(axbx @ Feb 11 2009, 02:26 PM) If you're using Paint, then the quality will 'habis' all the way... you'll never regret with either one of them...it's just 24" vs 23", "rm650 vs rm675", "HDMI vs no HDMI"...... usually i use paste at Photoshop and save as high-quality jpeg... looks like S2409W & 2333sw gonna have a close fight...
