Need advice...Im noob about lcd monitor...recently my crt monitor broken so I need to buy a new one..

Anyone can suggest me with budget rm500 which one better in terms of performance and quality...  

Don't get too caught up by this glossy screen hype. I have both glossy screen and matte screen LCD and I prefer matte screen. The fact that glossy screen's color is a tad more vibrant, I cannot stand the amount of dust visible on the screen. If color is important for you, go for IPS panel, the color is so much better, even a matte IPS panel outshines a TN glossy panel. My advice to you, instead going for HP 22" glossy TN, get the DELL 22" e-IPS panel. Warranty wise, DELL pwns HP already. My 2cts.

RM949 according to DELL website. You get a premium panel with height adjustment, able to pivot and swivel the LCD, and has 4 USB ports.

Let me know your budget, there are some NEC 24" that has that glossy screen you like, with H-IPS panel. But it costs somewhere around 3k.

IMHO, it depends on individual. For me, I have been working with IPS panel since yrs ago, whenever I look at a TN panel I can tell the color reproduction is not that good as well as the viewing angle, especially when you view from bottom. I can never use a TN panel.

My advice to you is, test the monitor out yourself, if you're comfortable with it, just get it. It doesn't matter what other feels about the monitor.

How much is that HP w2228?

Isn't the model number w2208? Which one's newer?

4) HP warranty ?? vs DELL 3 yrs warranty (DELL warranty is better compared to HP, doorstep pickup and swap for you)
5) HDMI input vs no HDMI input (If you need HDMI input, get the HP)
6) DELL 2209WA's stand is more solid compared to HP w2228H
7) 2x USB ports vs 4x USB ports
8) DELL's premium panel guarantees you a free replacement even with 1 stuck/dead pixel.

I can say you can forget about the response time. There isn't any standard in measuring response time. A manufacture can say it is 2ms, it could be more, it could be less. The technical paper says it is 5ms, it did not state weather it is G2G or BWB. You should not worry about response time. I don't know if lowyat has this LCD, but I advice you to buy online because they will ship it to your doorstep, and any problem later they will RMA for you using your registered address during purchase.

2209WA vs s2409w

Panel type = e-IPS vs TN.  Hands down that the IPS panel will be better for color renderation
Viewing Angle =  2209WA have a wider viewing angle as seen on many reviews.
Dell warranty = 2209WA have the dell premium panel warranty which the s2409w don't
Panel size = s2409w have a bigger screen
Resolution = 2209WA - 16:10 1650x1050 , s2409w - 16:9 1920x1080(full HD)
Connectivity = 2209WA no HDMI, but provide 4 USB port. s2409 with HDMI, no USB
Adjustability = 2209WA has more adjustable configuration.

So it is up to you. Those who don't care much for the panel type will go for a bigger 24" panel. Those that want the IPS panel and don;t mind the lower resolution will definitely get 2209WA. So it is up to you.

Personally, I will get the 2209WA, no doubt.

I'm satisfied with this LCD so far.. although I have to say Samsung 2333sw is sharper, maybe due to the Dynamic Contrast Setting, but I'm really ok with this...

some LCD are meant to last according to hours. not days. let's say 50000 hours. if one day u use 8 hours. so one year u use 2920 hours. so the lcd can last for around 17.123 years aporximately. but sometimes u use more than 8 hours. example 12 hours but sometimes u use less than 8 hours. in the end depends on ur usage.

Added on February 27, 2009, 11:15 amthis is for the acer monitor. but some company rarely display the total hours for a lcd to last. some maybe 10000 hours or 5000 hours. lol. we might not know the actual lifespan of the lcd.
