COD4 not sure, COD5 definitely has 1920x1080. I don't DOTA so no idea either. I heard you can edit the pixels manually or something. (Heck they don't even have 16:10 widescreen in the first place IIRC).

Since you're using Samsung 2233SW, is 21.5" priced around RM 610. Is it a very good buy LCD monitor for its low price and affordable. Btw is it glossy lcd monitor?

QUOTE(reveur @ Jan 31 2009, 09:43 PM)
I did a bit of look look see today at Low Yat and went straight to Samsung retailer on the 4th floor (or was it 5th?) I was hoping to get a 19" LCD as my budget was below 500. Then I saw the 2033SW which goes for 465 (I think) but next to it, is the 2233SW which is 2 inch bigger with the same specs ( I think) but full HDMI.

The salesman there is no help as they refuse to serve me, maybe coz I wasn't wearing high class enough.

anyway, The thing is this, Between the 2233SW and 2033SW samsung, there is not much difference but only in HDMI which based on what nightshade says, is crappy anyway if its budget lcd and allenultra said that a DVI to HDMI converter will do just fine.

So I am setting my eye on 2033SW. Will this be a good choice for a below 500 budget?
Or is there other alternatives?

Thanks!
*
But Samsung 2233SW is just RM 560 which is a very good buy but there is no HDMI. Unless you want crystalbrite technology then opt Samsung or Fujitsu.

Wait, what do you mean no HDMI for 2233SW? I thought 2233SW is 2 inch bigger with HDMI compared to 2033SW.

And the price difference is by 100....is that 2 extra inch really worth it? As I use it for normal gaming and watching movie only.

Crystalbrite Tech? Wuts that?
*
I recalled Samsung 2233SW only have D-sub and DVI only.

Crystalbrite Technology is glossy panel for enhance LCD display. Just like current generation of laptop using it.

Oh!

Last question then, Except for the 2 inch difference, the 2033SW is no difference than the 2233SW?

Is there other LCD that you would recommend?

Thanks!
*
That's solely depends on your budget. Best buy still Samsung 2233SW at RM 560. But if you want more crystal looking panel like laptop does then i recommend HP W2288H 22" with HDMI and built in stereo speaker at RM 900 at Thundermatch

QUOTE(lex @ Feb 2 2009, 08:20 AM)
Due to HD4670 graphics card, I would say any of these panels...

- 15" (1024x768)
- 15" widescren (1280 x 720)
- 15.6"/16" widescreen (1366 x 768)
- 17" widescreen (1440x900)
- 17" (1280x1024)
- 18.5" widescreen (1366x768)
- 19" widescreen (1440x900)
- 19" (1280x1024) ==> most recommended due to big screen size and ideal resolution for HD4670

Depends on your budget... Can't recommend any unless you tell us how much you are willing to spend. hmm.gif

If you want to use 22" widescreen (1680x1050) or or bigger, minimum is a 256-bit card like 9600GT...  wink.gif

I guess is cheapest is around RM564 at Viewnet (varies from shop to shop, maybe Thundermatch and Jayacom also), thus you'll have to look around.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Depends on your budget... If can afford Samsung, then go ahead.. hmm.gif

Can you names those brand and model which are 22" wide with Glossy screen which is similar technology used in today's notebook?

Thanks.

In a dilemma, Matt and Gloss screen. Which is more enjoyable and better clarity?

Two options in mind.

The Dell S2409W 24" Wide Matt screen at RM 700

or

HP W2228H 22" Wide Gloss screen at RM 899

I'll go for the 24" definitely. Bigger smile.gif. Depending on where you place your monitor, there might be glare due to the gloss screen.
*
But i felt gloss screen is much more vibrant, don't you think?

What so great about matt screen?

Yes, gloss screen tend to have a more vibrant color. But I don't quite like it due to the glare from it though. Especially in my room my lights are directly behind me.
*
What if is side?

Ever since i use my laptop crystalbrite technology LCD screen... seems to be more pleasant and vibrant than my current LG 17" matte type

bro jimmylim85

since read from your previous post until now. seem like you very interest in HP W2228H. Why confuse yourself? just go and get it. rclxms.gif
*
But i seen too many feedback that is too glossy causing reflective being annoying to be enjoyed sweat.gif

Is it really that annoying having a gloss screen than matte?

Because i can save rm 199 and opt for Dell S2409W but is matte doh.gif

Added on February 3, 2009, 9:33 pmbtw to enhoy movies, is 16:9 or 16:10 better?

Mine is different. It is as follows:

Model Code: LS23CMZKFV/XS
Type Number: CM23WS
Serial Number: CM23HVDQC00xxxM
Version: m-CM23Z0CAA-1000.0
Yeah, very easy to scratch also.
You can try Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22-inch which is a e-IPS panel (RM949) or if you prefer a 24" then it must be Dell UltraSharpâ„¢ 2408WFP which is MVA-panel (RM1500 at Lowyat Garage Sale). For 26", there's one model from ASUS selling at RM1699 but the resolution doesn't increase from 1920x1200, only 3000:1 (if I remember correctly), 300cdm2 and its a TN panel.

The 2333SW is value for money which is why I bought it. But it isn't the best available. There are also 2433BW and T240. But these are all TN panel.
*
Judging from your type number is written CM which it could stands for ChinMei sweat.gif

Perhaps CM23WS stands for ChinMei 23" WideScreen.

I know Dell don't make LCDs. It is selling 3 types of panels (TN, IPS, MVA), it can't be making all 3. Dell is a company that plays on the magic of supply chain management. biggrin.gif Their TN panels are most likely ChiMei (guess). Viewsonics use Chimei panels too. So far we have the following PC LCD monitor manufacturers:

AU Optronics
Chimei
Philips-LG
Samsung

No worries on who makes them because TN panels of late is definitely better than TN panels made 3 years ago.

So is it HP W2228H 22" under TN category?

Yes it is and it is the only TN panel who can boast wider color gamut coverage than other TN panels. Mainly because it uses a glossy surface and a decent TN panel. But its essentially a TN panel.
Got mah... Samsung got sell MVA panels.

I own a 2233SW and a friend of mine bought a S2409W recently (RM700). Well, I'm not of a graphic designer or something so my eyes isn't really sensitive to minimal changes, but for me the S2409W picture looks great as well relative to my 2233SW.

was the display smooth (dell)... cause i saw the review did by TigerDirect about that HP gloss screen is so eye catching...
