COD4 not sure, COD5 definitely has 1920x1080. I don't DOTA so no idea either. I heard you can edit the pixels manually or something. (Heck they don't even have 16:10 widescreen in the first place IIRC).

I did a bit of look look see today at Low Yat and went straight to Samsung retailer on the 4th floor (or was it 5th?) I was hoping to get a 19" LCD as my budget was below 500. Then I saw the 2033SW which goes for 465 (I think) but next to it, is the 2233SW which is 2 inch bigger with the same specs ( I think) but full HDMI.

The salesman there is no help as they refuse to serve me, maybe coz I wasn't wearing high class enough.

anyway, The thing is this, Between the 2233SW and 2033SW samsung, there is not much difference but only in HDMI which based on what nightshade says, is crappy anyway if its budget lcd and allenultra said that a DVI to HDMI converter will do just fine.

So I am setting my eye on 2033SW. Will this be a good choice for a below 500 budget?
Or is there other alternatives?

Wait, what do you mean no HDMI for 2233SW? I thought 2233SW is 2 inch bigger with HDMI compared to 2033SW.

And the price difference is by 100....is that 2 extra inch really worth it? As I use it for normal gaming and watching movie only.

With RM900+ for 22" better look for Dell 2209WA ler 

Dell 2209WA using e-IPS panel technology. Try search few page back for more info about e-IPS panel. I no specialize in that yet 

Due to HD4670 graphics card, I would say any of these panels...

- 15" (1024x768)
- 15" widescren (1280 x 720)
- 15.6"/16" widescreen (1366 x 768)
- 17" widescreen (1440x900)
- 17" (1280x1024)
- 18.5" widescreen (1366x768)
- 19" widescreen (1440x900)
- 19" (1280x1024) ==> most recommended due to big screen size and ideal resolution for HD4670

Depends on your budget... Can't recommend any unless you tell us how much you are willing to spend.

If you want to use 22" widescreen (1680x1050) or or bigger, minimum is a 256-bit card like 9600GT... 

I guess is cheapest is around RM564 at Viewnet (varies from shop to shop, maybe Thundermatch and Jayacom also), thus you'll have to look around..

I'll go for the 24" definitely. Bigger . Depending on where you place your monitor, there might be glare due to the gloss screen.

Yes, gloss screen tend to have a more vibrant color. But I don't quite like it due to the glare from it though. Especially in my room my lights are directly behind me.

You can try Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22-inch which is a e-IPS panel (RM949) or if you prefer a 24" then it must be Dell UltraSharp™ 2408WFP which is MVA-panel (RM1500 at Lowyat Garage Sale). For 26", there's one model from ASUS selling at RM1699 but the resolution doesn't increase from 1920x1200, only 3000:1 (if I remember correctly), 300cdm2 and its a TN panel.

The 2333SW is value for money which is why I bought it. But it isn't the best available. There are also 2433BW and T240. But these are all TN panel.

I know Dell don't make LCDs. It is selling 3 types of panels (TN, IPS, MVA), it can't be making all 3. Dell is a company that plays on the magic of supply chain management. Their TN panels are most likely ChiMei (guess). Viewsonics use Chimei panels too. So far we have the following PC LCD monitor manufacturers:

AU Optronics
Chimei
Philips-LG
Samsung

No worries on who makes them because TN panels of late is definitely better than TN panels made 3 years ago.

Yes it is and it is the only TN panel who can boast wider color gamut coverage than other TN panels. Mainly because it uses a glossy surface and a decent TN panel. But its essentially a TN panel.

I own a 2233SW and a friend of mine bought a S2409W recently (RM700). Well, I'm not of a graphic designer or something so my eyes isn't really sensitive to minimal changes, but for me the S2409W picture looks great as well relative to my 2233SW.
