I personally use some auralex products (2" foam wedges) and while they do do some absorption (> 500Hz), if you're looking to treat a room properly, they aren't that great. They are probably useful for rooms which already sound pretty decent..

but the best treatment I've found was to buy my own fiberglass panels and burlap fabric, and DIY your own panels.
