Otaku Demand Right to Wed 2D CharactersI don't know why, but only US IP can view that page... so if you are using some kinda proxy, then you could view it.. I'll just copy paste the page here. Here are some of the comments below the post. QUOTE(!Kyu~ 2008-10-29 21:52:24) Hm. . . This could be a problem with copyright reason and other problems (lolwut ? Why did I think about this srsly anyway ?). For example, Arcueid is Nasu’s character and he has the copyright. Now, claiming her to be her wife might violate the copyright and other stuffs. Not to mention that there are tons of otakus that want to marry her Polygamy wwwww QUOTE(ChrowX 2008-10-29 21:53:43) I don’t think you can marry 2d (read: Fictional) characters because they aren’t legally real people and therefore they cannot have their name a marriage license nor can they actually sign it or agree or disagree to the whole thing…
On the other hand, I’d love to see an Otaku wedding where the groom waits patiently at the altar while his only other friend carries a body-pillow with a picture of his ‘bride’ on it." QUOTE(Goofy Mouse 2008-10-29 19:53:17) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Excuse me… HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. So... who wants a waifu? This post has been edited by Alone: Oct 29 2008, 11:42 PM

The most nonsensical piece of news i've heard today next to the story about the National Fatwa Council issuing a Fatwa against Yoga because they think yoga'll make Muslims go astray from Islam.
Read it online on Star or NST.

In anycase, the marriage is not legal in Malaysia. As much as I wish, Sakagami Tomoyo has no legal personality in Malaysia. You might as well marry your pencil. And even if (somehow) it becomes legal in Japan, when you come back to Malaysia it is not. The law aside, I can see potential problems when your parents start asking "When are you going to give me a grandson?". Read it online on Star or NST. Since when did fatwa's make sense anyway? Muslims seem to cherry pick the ones they want to follow. There is a fatwa saying organ donation is fine, but try to talk to them about it and they claim it's against Islam. There is a fatwa saying it is fine to take a transplant of pig liver (cells) to cure a dying liver in a person, but still many would rather be tied to a machine for the rest of their days than to be cured.
