Hi all, anyone here using Microsoft Virtual PC 2007?
Can I know how to make all keys usable (eg: Tab key to switch apps within VPC) when you using another window?

full screen the VPC .. then it will become like ur normal windows

Had compared VPC2007 and VMWare. IMO, the later is so much better. I would even go as far as to say VMWare is a must have if you value online security.

Tried before and don't work.
Not sure why "Tab" and "Window" key wont work on VPC. When I press the key (active window = VPC), my host pc react to the key press instead...

Is VMWare free?

To create virtual machine, you either need to have MS VPC or VMWare workstation. Or you can go on Internet to download some ready made vm.

VMWare workstation is not free. MS VPC is.

But VMPlayer is free download. It can play vm created by MS VPC or VMWare.

Hmm still unable to solve my MS VPC issue...

Guess this might caused by my host window's setting.

have you installed guest addition in your vm? i dont remember what it's called in vpc. i'd stopped using vpc since long time ago after i found out about virtualbox

Yes I did install the addition but still same. I've been using MS VPC for more than a month and so far I'm able to use keys like ESC, Tab, Windows only for once and I'm not sure why it worked that time. As initially I thought it is normal that these keys do not work in MS VPC.

Anyway is Virtualbox better than MS VPC? Is it free?

I not sure why it wont work on mine.

Shortcut keys I used quite frequently: ALT+Tab, Windows+E, Windows+M and Esc.
And now I have to rely on mouse click when I use MS VPC.

try this:

Go to Virtual PC options, then click on Keyboard.

For Allow Windows key combinations - set On Guest operating system.

Do you mean Hardware Virtualisation? I cant seem to find the Keyboard option.

not that one.

right click on the virtual pc icon on the system tray. then choose Options. you will definitely see Keyboard ...

Just tried both "On guest OS" and "Full Screen on guest OS" but didn't work
Guess something must be wrong with my host window setting...

sorry, man. i really have run out of ideas. i can only suggest you do a clean install of vpc and reinstall the guess OS. PM me if u want the image of my guest OS.

Its okay bro. Thanks for your kind help. Guess I still could not find out root cause for my issue.

Perhaps wait till I'm free then re-format my guess VPC. If this still couldn't work, I think will need to re-format my window.

VirtualBox is definitely better than VPC and it's open source I'm currently using it on my Linux system and so far it's very good.

It return this message "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation".

I googled a bit on this error and try to change in gpedit.msc but still fail to run. Not sure what went wrong here...

Update: Finally managed to install Virtualbox after I did Windows Installer clean up

Hi all, I'm not able to dial in to company VPN when using VirtualBox. Can anyone guide me how to configure the network setting?

I have no problem connecting to VPN when using MS VPC 2007.
