It will be co-hosted by Thailand and Indonesia after Myanmar withdrew from hosting it. Group matches to be held in Bangkok and Jakarta from 5 to 10 Dec with two-legged semi-final and final matches from 16 to 28 Dec.

we did bid for it after myanmar withdrew but lost to thailand and indonesia. vietnam is the backup venue.

we have to support malaysian football..
even we lost to vietnam u-23 in pestabola merdeka..(its only penalty whistling.gif )
we have to knew dat our playing style is much better than before..
plus we don't conceeded any goal...
i used to watch each malaysian game in dat tournament..
in the final, malaysia deserved to win..
but dat damn vietnamese play ultra defensive style..
one more thing they used to waste time from first half even tiny challenge from our player..
it really sucks man..
it also made our player's moral down.. vmad.gif

to people out there
critics using your mind not emotion

malaysia still can do it in suzuki cup.. thumbup.gif

lol i admire ur spirit. at least the attitude is there. never lose hope. it's the same thing as supporting ur fav club. drop as many leagues as they could, lose as many good players as they would, but at the end of the day the supporter's would still be there standing beside em.

to be fair to the critiques, they have a point to criticise as the frustration of seeing msia falter again and again making the same old mistakes as the predecessors. but we shud not be passive and disheartened to give support. i'm not saying to the detractors to give blind support, just never show our backs to the team by not supporting them any longer!! thumbup.gif

early prediction to the cup: msia gonna struggle to get through the gp stage but wud scrape it thru nevertheless

The final match will be two-legged or just played in a single game?

"The qualifying round will see five teams, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines and East Timor competing in a round robin in Cambodia on October 17-25."

Where will these teams be placed eh? Will there be a Group C or will they be added in the drawn up Group A & B? Confusing article >,<

yup, final is two-legged game, one home one away, so are the semi-finals.

only two teams from those in qualifying round will qualify to the finals in bangkok/jakarta. they will be added to group a and b.

laos and cambodia have qualified and will be put in group b and a respectively

Oh thanks. 4 teams per group eh. Weird all eleven aren't competing in the tournament. Maybe next time the format will be changed to 5 per group and the winner of the previous edition advances to the semis automatically. 3 from each group advances to quarters. Although the previous winner will be playing only semis and finals if they make it lol. Oh well, just my 2cents worth.

Sorry to say, I lost hope in the Malaysian national team.

I went too all of Malaysia's Matches in the Previous Asia Cup where we lost to China, Uzbekistan & Iran convincingly. After that I came to a conclusion to never watch any Malaysian national team matches anymore! I even gave-away Malaysia vs Chelsea ticket that I've won, just to the reason that Malaysia vs Chelsea and there is nothing to shout about!

May be this is my view! But I guess some governing body should WAKE UP before its too late.

WE HAVE WORLD CLASS FACILITIES BUT THIRD CLASS MANAGEMENT! Sorry to say this.

The 22-year-old Titus said yesterday that he could not make the deadline because of delays in processing his work permit in France.

“I am not making up excuses for not turning up for trials since June.

“I am sorry for the delay but I am left with no choice,” said Titus in a telephone interview from Meaux.

“I am unable to leave the country until my work permit is sorted out by the end of this month. It is a long process and I have been waiting for the last four months. It is in the hands of the Minister of Immigration.”

Titus was called up several times to join the national team, including for friendly matches against the Chinese Olympic team before the Beijing Olympics and English Premier League’s Chelsea last July.

“Who would not want to play against Chelsea? But I am subjected to the laws of the country (France) where I hope to play professional football,” said Titus.

“I have been warned that if I leave the country without getting their prior approval, I would no longer be able to return to play in France. I hope to resolve this matter by the end of the month and I should be home in Malaysia by early November.”

Titus is currently with French Third Division’s Nanteuil FC.

“Once I obtain the papers (work permit) , I should be able to break into the professional league in Division One or Two,” he said.

Vietnam U23/Olympic team, the same team featured at last month merdeka cup.

However, the vietnam team playing in suzuki cup is national team, not u23

22 is not a young age for a professional footballer.
its a peak age for his performance.
but if he is a late bloomer like andy johnson maybe its not a big case.

u think? hmm.gif

yeh 22 is quite late already to show potential. plus the scout wud more likely overlook him already considering his age so it's only a remote chance of him playing in the big league atm.

bro, u cant judge a match against a slovak super league team as the parameter to use to measure the std of france's 3rd div. i'm not saying msia league is good, im saying u jz cant compare so easily. for 1 reason, the slovak team is a team that has always played together and consists of several nationalities in the team. the msia team is a temporary team (asek2 tuka player je)

Watched news just now. They mentioned something about Malaysia probably chosen to replace Thailand as the co-host for Suzuki Cup. Unrest in Thailand as the main reason.

hahas lets start...
Gk = Lionel Lewis = True Singaporean icon_idea.gif

RB= Md Noh Rahman = Gotta be true Singaporean icon_idea.gif
CB = Baihakki Khaizan = True Singaporean
CB = shud be Precious Emuejeraye = Nigerian
LB = Daniel Bannett = from Australia i think

ok the RM and LM of the squad i'm not that sure but both of them are malay i gurantee you they are malay or chinese singaporean( Shi Jia Yi, Shahril Ishak ,Muhammad Ridhuan,Isa Halim )

now the 2 CM are all imports.. Mustafic Fahrudin and John Wilkinson ( Shi Jiayi could be a CM too if i'm not mistaken)

Now 2 forwards could be between Aleksandar Duric ,Indra Sahdan ,Agu Casmir ,Noh Alam Shah.

But i think the pairing is between Aleksander Duric and Noh Alam Shah. Agu Casmir and Aleksander Duric are both imports. So that makes it .... 6 thumbup.gif if count Agu Casmir as in the starting lineup

Titus not ready. Still cannot get working permit in France. So if he ever leaves France for national duty, he won't be able to go back again. And Sathianathan wasn't happy with this, I remember he said the door will be closed for him if he didn't come back for training after a certain period.

anybody watching the match? pretty pathetic 1st half. msia 0 laos 0. the team looked lost without direction. i dunno wut tactic is sathia employing. the field doesnt look to be in the vr best condition (well at least i'm expecting they use this excuse if they lost/draw/win by small margin). pretty pathetic. sathia has to do sumthing in terms of their tactics instead of just throwing long balls or wingers. the passes (even the short ones) are shocking. awful. is this what they've been preparing for couple of months. sigh

Yep i'm watching it too as a neutral rolleyes.gif (Go Singapore!) lol.... Actually from a neutral's point of view, it is quite a good half with attacks from Malaysia and surprisingly Laos. I didn't know Laos is that good. They were not playing like Cambodia yesterday.... They did attack and have a few chances(one with the free kick before half time was close). I'd like to comment on Shebby Singh's commentary... He is very one-sided and only mostly commented on how Malaysia play. He even mistakenly said Cambodia instead of Laos.

yeah.. u cud look msian players are very unfit. old story player mengada2 xnak alot of physical training. going by the subs they put in (safee sali and zakuan for hardi and amirul) plus leaving the likes of indra putra and hairudding omar in, looks like the coach is only counting on set pieces to score. i think there are 3-4 strikers in the team now without alot of central mid. not sure wut he's thinking. hairudding looks awful to stay on for me

Added on December 6, 2008, 7:27 pmGOALLLLLLLL.. safee sali. finally good delivery into the box. it is back against the wall job. parking bus in front of the goal so thankfully we manage to score

smart or just fluke? lol. it's easy to differentiate if the players are of higher qualities. here, he might have just hit it and hit the ground in front of him and gets a good bounce. tongue.gif

well, msia's play in this match might not win them the tournament indeed. but considering this is the 1st match for both teams, playing in the condition plus laos comfortable sitting at the back, msia still have a chance to go far. it's unlucky to meet laos in the 1st game considering they still have a lot of gas in their tanks whereas thais and vietnam have adv to rip open laos in the next match. and never underestimate the fighting spirit of the team. but yeah, the match showed how tactically deft msia are and the depth of the squad is very questionable. they needed zakuan and safee to make difference in the game. without them, i'm not sure how msia cud survive

yeah.. sopcast stream.

match ends msia 3 laos 0. my feelings is i'm just contented. not really proud but jz contented that we won. there are many aspects of the game that could be improved and needs to be done prior the next game or we gonna be in real trouble. the GD is not big so a draw against the other teams are not an option that could be considered in order to advance.

he scored a lot from freekick before.. the malaysian juninho.. not as good for sure tongue.gif
i agree about the tactical aspect.. very poor.. malaysia can only dream how to pass the ball like laos
about the bolded part, u could say the same to all football teams

3rd goal is pure class anyway

I would love to see Singapore against Malaysia in the semi-finals again xD. Very fiesty affair if both of them get to play each other xD

The third goal was class but Malaysia were quite poor. Disappointing performance all in all. Vietnam and Thailand are head and shoulders above Malaysia...

1-1. half time

i'm not sure y is msia is not playing at the middle of the park. it's the same old mentality in msian football that frustrates me a lot seeing ball being launched either straight to the forwards by long balls or playing it to the wingers. sathia, cmon la xde taktik lain ke ape?

also the defence particularly the central defence is a bundle of nerves today. it's not helped when the keeper isnt convincing atm. the players needs to calm down espc in the middle of the park and hold the ball a tad bit longer and have sum composure to help out the team. the players are jz popping any loose balls in the centre

nah.. if u watch the last game also, it's similarly frustrating like this. the coach's tactics is really frustrating. mebe we're too comfortable watching man utd playing that we wanted the same style to be played by us. but to be fair to us as well, the opponents can play a composed football. so question is, why cant we do the same?

the bright side of the incident is that msia would be mentioned by footballing world for couple of days (albeit for the wrong reasons). n he'll be popular in youtube as well.

n the funny thing bout the match is that the official almost give the match to msia hands down already only for helmi to give it away. not to take anythign away from safee who wants to have a flick instead of just an efficient touch to score

Added on December 8, 2008, 8:08 pmn i wonder why the big tournaments that we're in, keepers seems to want more than the fair share of publicity involving the msian football team? first it was azizon the predator guy from asia cup then it's the joker from kedah. i'm sorry to kedah fans, but this guy really sucks balls

First at all, why Malaysia lose??
1. Vietnam are more more better than Malaysia.
2. Malaysia only can beat the weak team like Cambodia or Philippine.
3. Ya, Malaysia keeper mistake.
I will not "buta" support Malaysia International Soccer anymore until they change all the management n player.

1. not really.. i can see both teams are at same level.. vietnam pass the ball better but lack attacking sharpness.. malaysia relied on the strikers and the wingers.. midfielder zero but still manage to create more attacks
2. true tongue.gif
3. true also

i dun know anyone who blindly support the team anyway.. we hope for the best but the team still didn't deliver
actually the same can be said to some european countries like portugal, england, germany etc.. historically they were good footballing countries but still never win any titles in RECENT times.. the difference is all of their players/manager are better than us

The referee is Singaporen. Mr. Pandian. Nice Indian chap. Being a Malaysian myself, I don't expect too many refereeing decisions to go in our favour. I was ecstatic when he literally gifted us the equaliser. Too bad our Helmi boy flushed it down the jamban less than a min later.

yeh itu yang the thing that frustrates me the most. a minute. literally for me to be joyful of the gift from the referee. i wonder if in FM, how many stats do they put in for his concentration. i mean cmon. now i know how the everton supporters must have felt when they lost to aston villa in injury time a min after they've scored the equaliser.

just my two cents, disappointing goalkeeping. our keepers just love to steal the limelight in big tournaments and big games.

wishing the r.arumugam was here to be the gk.

Funny.I thaught the keeper was the one who did well against many teams in other matches such as against chelsea months ago.

Now that was the worst blunder ever and the star sports people must be laughing their ass off

the keeper were a bundle of nerves since the start of the tournament. it is especially so when msia met vietnam yday from the first half. he was blaming the defence for lack of cover which is a fair excuse. not good jz fair. it is still his fault. but u won't see coach pull out gk just because of the 2 mistakes. they'd hope he cud recover n oso help him to not cause a permanent psychological dmg for the keeper as a player. take spurs keeper gomes for eg. u dun see redknapp quickly hauling him off the pitch after 1-2 costly mistakes.

well unfortunately keeper grabs another headline for us. just a quick question tho, do u guys remember a few years back we had a goalkeeper scored a goal from the goalline and the goal is much similar to this one where keeper misjudged the ball and it rolled into the empty net behind him. was that against vietnam? well how sweet of a revenge if that is the vietnam's team. msia are too pemurah la

Bro... This is your country. Its not the same like watching Man U then decide to switch to Chelsea. Are you going to support Singapore now?

I'm not saying you are one of those, but sometimes it puzzles me to see people cheering on England/Man U/Chelsea/Liverpool when they play a friendly against Malaysia. So sad...

I sometimes don't get it when the 'fans' blame the management after losing a game. In a way the management does play a part but ultimately it is down to the coach and the players.

In a match, the coach and the players ultimately shoulder the blame for a lousy performance. Judging from the match yesterday (yeah, i watched it) the players were abysmal. The Vietnamese weren't any better but the Malaysian players can't even string a series of passes together.

But having said that, the pitch was horrendous. Ball was bobbing all over the place. Air shots anyone?

i got ur point but maybe the wrong arguments is used. ppl still support that team bcoz of their ability/play etc. but ppl shud not stop supporting or denouncing the team becoz of loss (or losses). critique like u critique ur fav team (man utd/chelsea etc) but u cant say u wud stop supporting them if they for eg miss out on a champs league spot or loss to a local rival or knocked out in early rounds of champs league. wutever it is, this is our national team. embarassing yes but shouldnt make us denounce the team etc. and yes i still loathe at helmi. and yeh if u wanna have a good laugh at a keeper's mistake, go and see it for urself. if not, then u just adding ur stress level.

Yep... And I agree with the other guy, management/FAM/Khairy/the makcik Kopi has got nothing to do with it.

We just have a below average pool of players.

Ehemz... A bit lari topic already... Let's look foward to Thailand!!

Vietnam will def beat Laos, irregardless of scoreline.

From the video, the boys sure looked to play a much better game. Sadly the 3rd goal by the Viets was indeed a bad blunder on the keeper side. But overall our boys did a good job. Just the finishing

dun let urself be fooled by the video. it doesnt do justice to those who watched the full game. it was awful espc the 1st half. every ball in the msian half wud be booted long by the backline and shukor up to the strikers. sumtimes it drops to the wingers. i mean cmon do u have any other tactics other than that sathia? cant u force em to play short passes with each other. this is the problem with msian league/msian players. kalau dalam league, semer stock nak bagi long ball to their import strikers or give the ball to the import midfielders and let them do the job. they cant do the job on their own. that's y xde confiden and composure to hold the ball longer in the midfield and play nice short passes around. even laos can play better short pass than msia. cuma diorg x reti attack je sbb tu diorang kalah. support tetap support but the fact that matters is that we're waaaay behind thailand. right now we need a miracle (just like we did in a tournament few yrs back.. not sure sea games or tiger cup but we're in similar position. and our challenger for the semifinal spot either myanmar, indo or viet supposed to win against the bottom side of the grp laos/cambodia but they only manage to draw and malaysia qualified). the same thing is needed now so msia really need vietnam to play vr badly against laos and not win against them.

Malaysia always play like that..long pass just pretand that their height is high just like import player..safei sali..short (tembak gagak but this guy still can polish) ..zaquan..short (stylo lebih ) ..indraputra..pancit kuat isap rokok..hairuddin omar..pancit kuat isap rokok..thats why i'm said..this generation already busuk..

About tomorrow game...No miracle..if u strong..u will win.. if u x sedar diri..u will loose until Khairy Jamaluddin concerntrate with FAM..no politics..

my 50 cents....very hott..

and our very own goalkeeper mohd syamsuri mustafa also has scored a goal like that.. think it was against vietnam but im not sure.. it could be myanmar.. we still lost 4-3 in extra time though

currently at this particular time, i dun think we have any convincing keeper around to use for such a crucial time. and the more i think about it, the harder it is to imagine we're gonna get through the next round. the organisation of the tournament also needs to be questioned. they dun have enuff stadium at phuket so the 2 match is gonna be played at 2 different times. this is an obvious advantage to the team that's gonna play the 2nd match ie vietnam knowing wut kind of result they are after and change accordingly. also i'm amazed cuz usually if there were to be 2 matches in the same day, the host nations wud be playing the 2nd match of the day as it allows the fans to come and watch the 1st match as well to fill up their time (like the sideshow). but today thai is gonna play 1st.

bout the coach thing, there's no simple solution la. face the fact. even if the coach's brought sum winning tactic to the book, hire the best available assistant coach around it won't change much anything if the players do not follow the instructions. more specifically, they can't follow (cuz no ability). this is prob with national teams as the coaches dun really train them as often as they wud have liked. it falls on the club's hands on how they handle their players in terms of training them and developing them to be better accomplished players. here in msia, we still dun stress a lot on the need to improve on fitness and physical attributes. some players maybe do look after them but the majority doesnt. they'll complain if the training is too tough after couple of months undergoin the tough regime (it needs to be maintained all yr long except close season). the club coaches doesnt receive as much flak as the national team's coach. the national team coach are expected to work miracles by employing tactics that wud transform an average player to a classy winning team. sumtimes it's unfair to the national coach la.

my point is it doesnt matter if u bring the best tactician in the world here ke ape ke, it's useless if the player's can't execute the tactics the coach have in mind. amek la capello ke sape ke datang sini, tp die pn mesti garuk pala la kalau fitness xde, pass and trap bola pun kadang2 kantoi.

well at least a good coach is better than a bad coach. i'm not really sure sathia is the right person for the job tho

Guys,

If you ponder a bit, long time a go we used to be on par with the Koreans and Japanese. Thailand is like meh. We have steady defense, Santokh Singh, Soh Chin Aunh and others. Our defenders are like 6 ft tall? And they are very comfortable with the ball. Have composure. But yet, they all are semi-pros. No Sekolah Sukan Bukit Jalil. Just play for your country and then do some other work too. Nowadays, we have all these facilities and accomodations, yet our performance declined. Personally i dont think infrastructure in Vietnam is better than ours.

One more thing, Satia was given a KPI to reach final. He was like what? 1 year as Malaysian coach? 2 years? Give him more time for god sake! If I am the President of FAM, I will employ a good and proven foreign coach. Give him 10 years target, let him have a free reign in dictating whoever players he want. Use our pool of youngsters in Sekolah Sukan and stick with them maybe. From what I heard, our youngsters are quite good, beat vietnam and thailand and Indon. But hey, thats just me and it wont happen lol.

Rgds,
Zepple

i guess you just did not watch football for that long. you may think you watched football for some times, but actually you are not. like 1 of the forumer mentioned, it happened quite a number of times recently. on top of my head are the incidents with Ben Foster and Syamsuri

the 1st goal and the last goal really were Helmi fault, no excuse given. both were just a lack of concentration issue. that's a life of a goalkeeper, 1 mistake and you will be punished. and people will question your ability. and if you have stupid coach like Sathi, you will be publicly blamed for the loss of the match (and he most probably wanted to blame Helmi for him losing the job also). but nobody said anything about that boyfriend of Rita Rudaini missing a number of clear chances, some where he not even hit the target

i will be rooting for Malaysia tonight, however difficult and hopeless we may be against the mighty Thailand. but i can accept our exit from this cup if that means no more Sathi as our coach. sometimes, we have to take 1 step backward to move 2 step forward. just get Azraai as our national coach and give him full power to select the players that he want

finally, i want to give my praise to 2 of our national players; Indra Putra and Shukor Adan. i thought you guys had lost it but you guys surely proved me wrong. well done guys and keep ot up

agree with u toshio14. people never understand and remember how good is helmi in the first game against Laos. he is the one who save the superb free kick from Laos. And two one on one save, saving Malaysian from humiliated from minnow, Laos.

Helmi deserve to play tonight. He is the best. Much much better than Syed Adney. Full stop!

Bro...save the ball from freekick and save any dangerous try from opponent is a normal routine for player called Goalkeeper. The important thing is concerntration and consistancy. Thats why keeper like Paul Robinson even he can save a lot of nice and dangerous try from opponent striker he didnt get nom 1 england goalkeeper. Because goalkeeper is the last defend of football team and that should be the best keeper come with all that i mentioned. If u see certain international country, more older the age of goalkeeper, more experience , more consistant. So this guy called Helmi..still not consistant yet..i believe he can make the same mistake just like play with Vietnam..because that guy very nervous..i can see when he play with laos and vietnam..

Tournaments require different level of mentality and performance la bro. Remember also that the group stage only has three matches, not six. If six lain cerita lah, because then we will still have a chance to make up for the ridiculous result against Vietnam. Also, all THREE goals he conceded are because of HIS below-par performance. One out of three we can tolerate, BUT we're talking three out of three here. Lastly, and I've mentioned this somewhere before, who the hell lets the opponent score a stupid goal like that just ONE MINUTE after getting a HARD EARNED equalizer???

On the issue of foreign players playing for the national team, cast your eyes no further than Brazil and you'll get the picture. Remember players like Deco (Por), Eduardo (Cro) and a whole lot of other 'expatriates'? This is the norm now to get an advantage over your rivals, even though it is frowned upon by some quarters. Don't get me wrong, of course I'm proud that our national team is still 100% Malaysian, it's just that Singapore used this advantage to good effect, and maybe to even dominate this region for many years to come.

And I agree with Rhadykall that we do need a stronger mental approach for tournaments, from the GK right up there to the Manager/Coach. That's why we have a squad to choose from, to compensate for loss of players through form, injury, etc etc. What is the use of a squad if you are not able to change your GK, esp after such a confidence-sapping performance? Helmi will def be one for the future, maybe to rotate him with Syed Adney to see if Syed will also be another for the future. If we keep sticking to one GK, even though he is one of the best around, is really suicide esp if other team members does not share the same confidence in him like the Manager/coach.

define consistency. Helmi only play below par against Vietnam. please name the last match he play below par, please....

he kept clean sheet for 90 minutes in the Merdeka Tournament. its not consistent? Wanna come up with excuse we play again 'not so strong' team?

why only blame Helmi? it was Juzaili Sameon mistake on the second goal. failed to stop the ball. failed to close down opponent and let them shoot.

why didnt blame Safee Saali for hitting the post on one on one situation?

why didnt blame Zaquan Adha for not having shoot on target?

Everyone say that football is all about teamwork. but why only blame Helmi?

Why anyone didnt point why Sathia take out Daudsu to replace with Juzaili Sameon?

Why Hairuddin as a striker playing on midfield position?

Why Why Why?

he is kedah fan.. i can understand him actually.. but those mistakes were too schoolboy errors
let us look at vietnam 1st goal.. the way he chase the ball made me remember about women world cup game less than a week ago
the 2nd goal was a piece of good skill by the vietnam player and helmi lost his concentration that time.. his positioning was so wrong and guess what when the vietnam players was about to shoot helmi still looking and pointing to other defenders
3rd goal.. SPEECHLESS sweat.gif

in the end, he should buck up this evening and please dun have azizon kadir syndrome again.. he is actually a good keeper but in big games he tend to be nervous so that will worsen his concentration

ahh no wonder. i was wondering when a kedah fan to show up. not to pick a fight but u cant take away his mistakes that cost us the game and prob the whole tournament. as i've sed b4, yes its a team game and a whole bunch others shud take responsibilities as well but it was his mistakes that decides the game. i blame others but more so on helmi. argue bout the 2nd goal, yes once or twice players gets dummied by the opposition that's normal but to get beaten on near post? keeer needs to take blame for that. it was all out of sudden as vietnam weren't in control of the game or anything. it was lapse of concentration (which there was aplenty in that game) from the gk.
just when we got a foot in the game, we were knocked by silly mistakes. that's not a good motivation to spur on ur teammates. i understand the need to defend him as he does have potential and i also don't want his career be over bcoz of this, but he needs to proof himself again b4 the msian public can trust him to be our keeper.

"But the Malaysians had hardly finished celebrating the equaliser when Phong launched a hopeful long ball from 10 yards inside his own half that took a wicked bounce just outside the Malaysian box over the head of the stricken Helmi" espn

wicked bounce = lantunan luar biasa

in my opinion.. we should not blame Helmi eliza for all the goal score by vietnam.. 1st @ 2nd goal mistake from defend..

Coz we're talking about the keeper? Just because we don't talk about the others that doesn't mean we feel that they played very good. Nobody said that you know. The topic is about the goalkeeper so the goalkeeper it is then. What la.

p/s: how are you a good goalkeeper if you let in a goal from the near post? he was covering the near post darn it. as a goalkeeper, do you expect the defender to 100% block any shots all the time? no you don't. he knew that coz if he did not, he wouldn't be covering the near post.

if defenders can 100% block all incoming shots for the goalkeeper, then why do we have GKs?

Juzaili????????? He and the stupid goalkepper cost us the goal
Juzaili never close down fast enough and keeper is just shyt
the goalkeeper Syed Adney wht the shyt he hold the ball so long everytime,i suggest he quickly release the ball to players instead of keeping it so long and then kick the long balls no point.sial syed adney like schoolboy never touch ball before

And we lost to a Thai team who are not playing well up front today! If the forwards have been their normal self, the result should have been way worst for us.

And just saw the news at TV3.. It seems that Perak's FA (PAFA) owes Steve Darby RM150k of his unpaid salary.. What is happening to Malaysian football.. going down the drain....

What the hell is wrong with our national team...

Even the kitman also cannot pakai. I see the team wearing last season's home kit? And 1-2 players wearing the current new home kit.. What happened?

Kitman team Malaysia also cannot pakai..

And just saw the news at TV3.. It seems that Perak's FA (PAFA) owes Steve Darby RM150k of his unpaid salary.. What is happening to Malaysian football.. going down the drain....

i won't quote the post that saying some forumers defended Helmi because he played for Kedah but i take it that it was directed to johnjenin and me. that is just stupid. learn to read properly and do notice that nobody said Helmi was not at fault for our lost. he was the main culprit that contributed to the loss. but football is a team game, and if 1 of the conditions provided by johnjenin happened the other way around, we may still be in the running for semi final berth

and to have your own coach put the blame solely on you when most of the others doesn't really do their part is just pathetic. the coach that soon to be ex-coach probably just piss off with the fact that his contract now surely will not be renewed. and to those who said we improved under this coach, i honestly do not think so. we played a very poor match against the "mighty" Laos and was put to place by Thailand. just get Azraai as national coach and let him work his magic for the national team after doing it with Kedah

as i said earlier, sometimes we have to take 1 step backward to move 2 steps forward. and i don't mind if this exit from the cup is the 1 step backward we have to take if it means we won't see this current national coach as our national coach anymore and for Azraai to get his long overdue recognition as national team coach

yeh i think the days of having a consistent custodian is past us. in truth i think helmi is okay. not really that great but he is ok. but we really need a commanding gk who instill confidence in defence and the whole team to advance.

after this, sathia wud be sacked and we're gonna go for foreign coach or azraai. pls not dollah salleh. we've already taken not only 1, but actually have walked down a long road backwards. we never really looked like we've made any progress in the international front whilst our neighbours one by one are passing by us slowly but surely.

For sure some other club supporter will take the chance blame on the Champion Kedah keeper. For me, i dun care the keeper is from what club, i will always think the team play is really important, i will not always blame on the keeper only.
Sometime the mistake like the last goal with vietnam match is random happen on other soccer match, like the Ex-T.Spurs keeper Robinson did on his opponent club keeper, such a long distance goal.
Anyway, i think we r lucky still can beat Laos, very lucky indeed. smile.gif Dun try protect our Int' National team, they will getting more worst if we continue like this. Sry for my poor english. tongue.gif

Maybe the whole team should resigned not just the coach being fired.
Start back from square 1 or square negative 1 whatever. Bear responsiblity that you're not good enough. If I am a Malaysian player, this is the lowest it can go. No wonder Malaysians prefer seeing BPL than the local league or Asian football, nothing to look forward to. It's not saying that Malaysian football fans are not patriotic, we just can't stand craps and stupidity on the pitch making a mockery of ourselves. Enough is Enough. Stop Football in Malaysia for a Year. Let see how much we miss it and do something about it to raise our standards.

Yes and I'd agree with that. Totally smacks of unprofessionalism and ill-prepared, even for a small regional tournament like the AFF Suzuki Cup. Inconsistencies were first noticed during the 1st match, with some having names and some not having names. Then, the 2nd match whereby the names and numbers were of diff fonts! And now, the clincher, whereby a mix of old and new shirts! If you look closely, the old version was def a backup, there were no patches on the right sleeve....

Malaysia out of the AFF Cup... again. What's new ? This is my take on Malaysian football, as a whole.

Football as a whole
Malaysian football is good at one thing: Making things seemed good cosmetically, but when it comes to the actual game, fail. Nike kit, pro league, when ppl hear maybe they'll be impressed, but when they see the games at the MSL, the national team, not so good after all. Sometimes U can even see better games at the state level league, like KL League, Selangor League. There are some very good players in those league (I can tell, I've played in KL League), makes U wonder where they all went.

Football league
The old Malaysian league was better & more exciting to watch. The pre-1989 (Semi Pro) or even pre-MSL league was a lot better. Those days there were no pro players. But the national team was much better than this. Ironically, the last time we won the SEA Games was 1989, the year Semi Pro league was introduced. The national coach was Trevor Hartley (I think) & Zainal Abidin Hassan & Dollah Salleh, even Shebby was in the team. Not to say that was our golden generation, but the team was much better than the current one. Ironically too, the very next SEA Games (Manila 1991) we lost to the Philipines, who earlier had sought our assistance in development of football in their country !

The local & state-run leagues are actually a very good place to look for potential players. Even those university leagues. & some players actually showed a lot of potential at school level. This is true for all sports. But U know what ? There's never been a continuation between school sports & actual pro league. Look at one team la, Selangor for instance. How many players in the team actually are under 20, or under 18 ? Parents put too much emphasize on studies, & sports in Malaysia are not big enuff for any player to make a living anyway.

Solving this problem needs a rethink, relook, & reorganize our entire sports system & league. This is massive exercise, so dun expect it to happen overnite. I believe recently there was something going on between Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Higher Education. Wait & see.

Coach
Some local coaches are actually very good. B.Sathianathan is actually a good coach, he had better luck with the U23 squad than the senior squad. But considering our players attitude, NO coach will be able to work wonders with the team, as long as the attitude remained the same. How do U explain established coaches like Claude Le Roy, failed with the national team but was succesful with other team before and after coaching our national team ? U put Arsene Wenger ke, Alex Ferguson ke, no use with the attitude still at this level.

I agree that coaches are not given enuff time to build or mold a team. But shelf life for national coaches are generally very, very short. If U guys remember, we've had national coaches who got sacked after just one tournament.

Players
This is the biggest problem. Players are given big sums of money to play for the so-called pro league teams. Of course, the salary they're getting is still much lower when U compare against those in BPL, but that's a bit too far away. Let's compare against those in the Indonesian, Singapore, Vietnam league (do they even have a league ?). I dun think they get big salaries. In MSL, I think the salary cap is RM8,000 basic. If U compare in the govt, that basic salary is comparable to a JUSA C salary scale, in my ministry it's at Timbalan Setiausaha Bahagian level (in charge of some 200-300 ppl). I'm not saying that they shud be paid lower, but when paid that kinda money, Ur commitment level shud be very high. The fitness regime, the training, everything.

I agree with Rocko. In Malaysia, the players can complain if the training is too hard & when they're not statisfied with the coach (for giving them too hard training), they can even get the coach fired !! Training too hard ? Let me tell U, no training is too hard or too much la.

Let's take Michael Jordan as an example. He was the highest paid athlete in the world (USD30 million in his final season with the Bulls). His training principles are simple : U practise hard everyday, harder than the actual game itself, so that when the game comes, it becomes easier than the practice. He stayed behind to do more practice after the actual practise session is over. That's why he's the best player in the world. If Malaysian players earn RM30 million ? Do U think he will stayback to do extra practice ?

The players attitude of being content with their current levels must change. They must aim higher. & compliment that
with commitment & hard work. Ini, baru main for state team, act like world champion edi.

Finally
In the end, we need to give sometime for our football to fix things. Scrapping the game of football entirely won't solve any problem. That's a very funny idea. Of course we could only hope for the best, but hopefully somebody's doing something to fix all this.

We were totally outclassed by the Thai's, make no mistake about it. The only bright spark was that a couple of the younger lads looked to have some desire but were ultimately wasting it on committing silly fouls and running around aimlessly. What really tainted the team was not only the embarrasing loss to Vietnam but the manner in which Indra Putra conducted himself against the Thai's, being a senior member no less. Anothing thing to note is that while Norhafiz may be a skilled defender, he is no centre back at a 5' 7".

I don't know what to make of it except that some people in the FAM have lost the plot. Banning foreign players again? World of good that did the last time this was implemented. If you grow up amongst of losers, chances are that you'll be a loser. Foreign players have better ability and mentality so what is wrong with bringing in someone the players can look up to? What is with the insistance to have local coaches? The FAM are really fickle when it comes to coaches which doesn't help either. Claude Le Roy was fired and only a couple of years later, brought Cameroon to the World Cup. What does that tell you?

One of the biggest problem in Malaysian football is the lack of grassroots development. Football is no longer just a sport, in fact its come to the point that you must have a very proper setup, training facilities, training regime, coaching, physio and etc. The way i see it, Malaysia lacks these fundamentals and even worst when they don't have the consistency in implementing their long term plans.

We must first have a very good youth setup. Under 8, under 10, under 12, under 15, under 18 and etc. There must be coach guidance, how to approach the game, instill the determination, teach them the proper footballing technique since young and very importantly the phsychological winning mentality. When you dont have a winning mentality, all the skill in the world is useless. These kids must be guided since they're young.

Secondly, i've lost count the number of times we've changed the policy of our football, sack like a million coaches, disbanded the entire football team and they just fail to stick to one plan, implement it and make sure we dont stray away from the plan. This goes out to the league too when the FAM cant seem to decide to allow foreigners play or not. It pisses me off when they conveniently blame the foreigners on the decline of our footballing quality. And at one point the FA's itself cant pay the players so i'm just thinking that banning the foreigners is just an excuse for the FA's inability to pay their wages.

And our football is controlled by a few kingpins and these kingpins must wake up and realise under their control, we've won nothing, been ridiculed and laughed at and changes must happen. Enough of blaming others and finding some stupid short term solution like sacking coaches, disbanding the team and etc. If this happens in other country other than Malaysia, the leader is always the first to go but in Malaysia, sadly the kingpins stay and we continue to play rubbish football.

On the other hand, parents of young footballers must not have the mentality that football cannot 'cari makan'. Its a sports that requires alot of training, right when they're young and there will be setbacks like injuries and etc but preseverance is very important here. We probably will never be able to reach the level that the EPL plays, or earn their kind of wages. But if we play decent football, i think French or lower English league is possible and the wages isnt that bad but please dont compare with EPL or La Liga. I think the J-League isnt that bad a place to ply your trade too.

Bottom line is, there must be a revolution or big changes for our football to improve. Frankly, i'm embarassed our football has gone down the drain. I've lost interest in following our local league or national team games. As long as they dont improve the grassroots, we will never improve and not only that, we will keep seeing our SEA neighbours improve and beat us in tournaments.

I dont know about 5 or 10 years later but i can tell you that any team now be it Laos or Vietnam or Philippines, they will be able to beat us coz they play with heart. These are the teams that give it all when they come out to play and they're a nobody back in their country and therefore they have nothing to lose. To put it bluntly, i question the team's burning desire to win anything at all. It doesnt help if the media keep celebrating mediocrity and i'm quite tired of reading headlines like "Unlucky Malaysia concede" or "We should hang our heads high" or "We lost but put up a good performance". In other countries, the players or coaches would have been crucified had they lose. Its like whether we win or lose, you still go home like a hero. So you kinda lose your competetive edge or winning mentality. Similarly, when Lee Chong Wei lost very tamely to Lin Dan in the Olympics, he was given a Datukship. Fair enough he's one of the very few to ever reach an Olympic finals and he's worked hard for it but i cant help but feel we're pampering the athletes more than we're motivating them to move a step further. The last time we won the Thomas Cup, the shuttlers were given money, land and etc. Guess what, we've never been the champion again and its 16 years since it last happened.

It doesn't help as well when the coach says "I'm proud of my boys" or "We played well but luck was not on our side" after crashing out.

PS: I'm not referring to the AFF Suzuki Cup but all sports generally.

I agreed with 1 of the forumer said: No changes in our Malaysia Soccer Team even we bring in A.Wenger or A.Fergusson as the team coach/manager if the player's attitude never change. I think another 3 years, Timor Lestee also easily can beat our National Team...

I agreed with 1 of the forumer said: No changes in our Malaysia Soccer Team even we bring in A.Wenger or A.Fergusson as the team coach/manager if the player's attitude never change. I think another 3 years, Timor Lestee also easily can beat our National Team...

Timor Lestee, i remember they got a player nickname as dangerman which given by our local tv commentator. laugh.gif

among the prob with the sports is the state fa's trying to develop ridiculous policy which wud ensure that their coffers are being taken care off without actually trying to improve on the footballing stds. the banning of foreign players is actually one of the ways to impede kedah from dominating the footballing scene. and the ruling that msia cup only needs to be played by the state fa's not the clubs is only for sentimental reasons as it wud deter the better runned club sides to embarrass the state fa's. i seriously dunno wut's the use of the some state fa's in this country that needed to be protected. seriously, they dun produce their own academy, they dun promote their young president cup players and every yr u see them trying to poach players from other sides while forgetting about the younger ones. and every now and then, they do like trial to select new players. i mean if ure a club side i feel it's fine to do trials as u might only have part-timers or sum sort in ur team but if state fa's also doing the same thing, i can't think of a purpose of having young president cup players in the set up.
i think kedah is good as they do promote some of their young ones but the list ends there. selangor tried to do it couple years back but are not patient enuff to wait for results (or just they didnt train em properly).

import is good a thing to msian football as it provides the competitive spirit in the footballing scene. but prob with it is that it is being abused a lot by teams that a lot of teams are putting the import only in key areas of the field like strikers/playmakers. that is why if u look at the national team, u still have the likes of ol faces like hairuddin omar and nizarudin yusuf, seasoned campaigners which i think is just average players. not many others stand out. safee i think is a good player and he manage to shine. zakuan? i reserve my opinion on him. seems like more towards enjoying the media publicity rather than improving his footballing stds.

in midfield, u see shukor in there. he's ok but he's a ball winner. but other than that i dunno of any footballers who can actually dictate the midfield and be the team's playmaker. ppl have been talking bout azi syahril but i'm not sure bout him as well. that's y we see the play in the team was more about long balls to the forwards or just use the speedy wingers (who can't really carry out nice crosses consistently).

KJ...u doing good job. you made tremendous improvement to malaysian football smile.gif i hope we can reach higher rank.

now i am busy searching old newspaper "kita berjaya membalas dendam 3-0 terhadap vietnam" for few month back for the useless friendly win.

to me all malaysian players no standard already. go take autograph also no value...not like the feel when i go collect matlan, radhi mat din, dollah, hashim mustapha time....
