Recently while reading some of the ID magazine, I came across a very unique 'brick house' in seapark. Future reading through it, I found out that the owner has turned it into a guest house, renting it out to people who would like to stay differently.

How many of you has stayed in a guest house when travelling? Do you think this idea will fly? I know it is a very niche market. The daily rate that the owner charges for his room is quite high, RM160/day or RM640/day for entire house. If you can rent it out several days a month, it is already more than renting it out for a month. A normal DSL would only fetch 1.5K/month.

Of course, it is not easy to rent out, since it is such a unique thing.

I am thinking of turning my house into one. :-) I want to sell mine house, but the market is so bad that I don't think i can make any money at all, virtually not much appreciation after 3-4 yrs.

Some questions:
- do you need some kind of license? hotel license?
- is it a tough/tedious job? can I run it as a side job?
- do i have to worry about theft?

Any input? Anyone with similar thoughts?

what do you think of a place in puchong? Here is my worries. I thought if you target backpacker, they would like to be in town. Puchong is kind of far. Do you think local would stay at such place? Or, it is mainly for foreigners?

Must you have someone to live in that house? like a butler.

PS: are you into macho men?

WOW! How did they find your studio? Are you doing anything like this? Are you studios mainly in KL town area? are they foreigners? What is the rate that they are proposing? (sorry for all the questions)

THe property tht I have now is in PUchong, rather out for tourist who want to visit all the tourist sites. BUt it is quite convenient, very close to food and shops. Only draw back, no LRT, no tourist attraction.

The place is in Wawasan 2.

Have you heard of the brick house at seapark? I guess its advantage is a near by LRT station. I guess if I am to do it, it will be really niche.

Just wanna gather some thoughts of others.
