I did some testing using this part of the transformer 1 movie - Bring the Rain

Two SVS pc12-NSD vs 1 Velo SPL1200. (Sorry about the T-shirt, forgot to take away)
Conclusion is that the SVS can go really low. I would prefer if it is a sealed box.

Congratulation! rclxms.gif So in conclusion the Velo SPL 1200 ultra can go & fly kite??!!! nod.gif

Dang, that SVS is so much bigger than your main speakers!

I think lately a lot of people have been poisoned by bass and spending a disproportionate amount on a sub compared to the rest of the speakers smile.gif Which brings me to the question: what % should you spend on the sub compared to the rest of the speakers? Found these threads discussing the issue: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/forum/thre...-speaker-budget and http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/hom...ker-budget.html

For me the sub is nearly 33% of my 5.1 setup cost. What's yours?
*
I spend 60% on my sub blush.gif I am a bass nut. tongue.gif Pity I am a poor peasant if got $$$ I will get the SVS PC-13 ultra. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif But my ultimate bass dream will be the Velo DD1812. tongue.gif rclxms.gif

Hahaha...i know.  I'm getting the agent to settle with the custom for me so confirm can get it out tomorrow.  But I might wait till wednesday to collect it when my Odyssey is ready for collection too.  That way i don't have to go to Brunei 2 times.

I am also waiting for ur FR. Do test it out on Transformer or on U571.

I finally got my SVS PC12-Plus last thursday, but I have to go back to my home town to visit my dad for a few days. so didn't manage to really set it up and test it till today.

Here are some pictures of my lovely PC12-Plus.

Still in the box with my old 12" B&W sub.

The undressing....

Here are a comparison of the 3 subs .... from right to left ... Velodyne CHT-12R , SVS PC12-Plus , and finally the B&W.
user posted image

Here is my personal opinions of the PC12-Plus.  I don't call it a review as I'm not an expert in this field and I don't really know what I'm doing sweat.gif

The PC12-Plus comes in a very sturdy box and mine came in perfect condition.  The size is really big but i have plenty of room for it. Will show some more picture of it later.

I calibrate mine with the SPL meter I order from SVS and its pretty easy process.

Now comes the part about how the PC12-Plus really sound.  First I play some of my favorites music like Dire Straits' Tunnel of Love and Eagles' Hotel California and I'm please to say that is sub is indeed great for music.  Its fast, and very tight and best of all its not boomy at all.  I can't say how much I hated the 12R as its just doesn't sound great for music at all.  The last time I heard good sounding sub is from the REL T1, and the PC12-Plus is another great sounding sub and it blends in with my speakers really well.  It just sound so much better then my previous 2 subs.

Then I play some movies to see how good the PC12-Plus really is after reading so much rave reviews on the internet and I am happy to say that this is indeed the best sub i have ever heard!  It can go really low that i can really feel my sofa vibrate.  Even my plaster ceiling vibrates!  There is one time it even trigger the alarm sensor.
But this thing is not only loud.  It sounds really awesome....the bass is clean and tight and never boomy.  Best of all is when I play it really loud and this baby just doesn't seems to run out of juice.

Considering the price I pay for this PC12-Plus, I have to give it 2 thumps up and I recommend that everyone who is looking for a good sub should try this baby out.  You won't be disappointed.

Wow! drool.gif wub.gif Very very poisonous! Taking out my saving book & check balance!!! Only got Rm378!!! cry.gif

Anyway CONGRATULATION! thumbup.gif rclxms.gif BTW what r u going 2 do with the other two sub??? I will be more than happy to get rid of them for u & will be more than happy to treat you to a plate of 'kampua' mee! He! He! biggrin.gif

I am uncle here.

Update: My HT friend, Tan came over to my home today. He brought along 'Knowing' BD to test. Wah.... piang! The surr and LFE sibeh keng. I am happy to say that he noticed the AQ improvement of my setup. He likes it even more now. He told me that I only need some bass traps and some minor tweaking.

So, done some fine tuning again with his advice. Later, will do my 2nd stage treatment.

It is always good to read the manual before operating the units. You do not want to risk your toys getting damage.

Btw, another potential PC12-Plus owner in da house. Anyway, I might be selling off my PC12-Plus to make way for 13-Ultra. I would really like to keep it but it is too much for my room to 'digest' both.
*
How about having two PC-13 ultra? Now u can proudly say u also got twine tower in ur house........& also poison ur client kaw kaw X 2!!! rclxms.gif

Where can I get this Bass Mackanic song bro? Failed your Paradigm? Now that's something. hmm.gif

Use Google for it. Bass music..........I use the same music to test it out on a car sub woofer ( in a car assory shop ). Sub use is Candence 12".........Fuyoh! Even my ball can feel it! drool.gif
But I can't have it for HT use as the issue of powering the mono block amp is a big no no. Having a car bat in living room is out.

Agree with your point. Just afraid that the 12" powerful svs might get my neighbour's knocking on my doors.

Sorry for my noob question but i always wanted to know this. The difference between a 10" and 12" subwoofer only means 1 is more powerful than the other? Yes, no? Pls enlighten me...

And the determine whether to get the 10" or 12" would depend on the room size is it?

Thanks
*
For sub, size or power matter a lot. Just get the biggest u can afford. U would'nt regret wan. In my case I got 10", 12" & also 14" & the size get bigger & bigger tongue.gif even thought my room size remain the same. tongue.gif
