Ubisoft producer Dan Hay is bragging that while Far Cry 3, which debuted at Ubisoft's pre-E3 press briefing, will look "incredible" on PS3 and "fantastic" on Xbox 360, the PC version will be absolutely amazing, as PC users will be able to "dial it to 11," primarily because it's being lead developed on the platform.
"Far Cry is a franchise born on PC, so we want to make sure with the PC experience you can dial it to 11," he said in an interview with CVG. "But at the same time we've got a ton of experience working on Xbox 360 and PS3, and for us making sure that they're on parity with that stuff is incredibly important. So we want to make sure that if you're playing it on PS3 it looks incredible, and if you're playing on the 360 it's unbelievable, sounds amazing and looks fantastic."
Hay added, "We're looking for the experience of anything that contracts from the great characters that we have, the really cool story, the experience that the player's going to have, the immersion... that we hit it with a hammer."
Hopefully, it'll have the same sort of map editor Far Cry 2 featured, too.

If you thought Far Cry 2's overland map was huge, look out - Ubisoft states that Far Cry 3 will be ten times larger. To give you an idea of how massive that will be, Far Cry 2 was twice as large as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and half the size of World of Warcraft.
In an interview with Edge, Far Cry 3 narrative director, Jason VandenBerghe bragged, "If you look at the vistas and the scale of Far Cry 1 and 2, take that and multiply it by ten. We want to take that even further. We're focusing on taking that scale and making it dense, so that around every corner there's something to find or see.
"That's a key in open-world experiences. We ask ourselves: if there wasn't anyone to shoot in the game, could it still be fun?", VandenBerghe concluded.
Let's just hope you can drive down the road without everyone and their brother trying to kill you all the time, at the very least.
Far Cry 3 was announced at Ubisoft Pre-E3 Press Briefing, and is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next year.
Far Cry 3 more powerful on PC, but not dramatically
QUOTE
While it goes without saying that the PC version of Far Cry 3 will be better looking than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, but UbiSoft is reassuring console gamers that the differences won't be dramatic.
According to Far Cry 3 lead game designer Jamie Keen, the PC version will have a lot more going on internally, stating, "The PC does have a lot more grunt under the hood - or it can have grunt - so there's a lot more that we can push there." Keen added, "That doesn't mean to say, 'Let's only push PC and leave the consoles behind.' We will keep pushing to get as much out of the consoles as we possibly can.
"When we do finally unveil what the console versions looks like, I think people are are going to be surprised. Yeah, there are going to be differences, but it might not be as much as people realise."
Far Cry 3 is being lead developed on the PC, and only the PC version has been shown off as such. The console versions will be shown off later this year. "That's why we're making no bones about this being on PC, and everything that goes along with that," said Keen. "There are going to be areas where the consoles aren't going to be able to push things as much as the PC can.
"So, there is going to be a difference, but as much as we can minimise that gap, we're certainly working as hard as we possibly can to do that."
"We're very lucky, in that we're going on the same base that Far Cry 2 had," concluded Keen, "And now our tech base is very, very strong."
There's no specific date for Ubisoft's new Far Cry 3 but a representative apparently let slip to a Spanish gaming site that they're aiming for a late 2012 window.
That would be anytime from October to December next year, which isn't too bad. Far Cry 3 is said to be leaps and bounds (a far cry?) from its predecessors.
Life in the surrounding environment is a major focus in the new Far Cry, as is vastly improved AI for enemies and drop kicking that silly 'weapon durability' mechanic. Check out the E3 2011 trailer for Far Cry 3 below which releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
