Samsung i7110 is the latest smartphone by the South Korean company, which got announced today at the Symbian Smartphone Show in London. There's no teasing pet name this time as the Samsung i7110 seems to be pure muscle no-cheaptalk performer.

A true heavy weightlifter, the Samsung i7110 packs a serious punch under its belt. Powered by the S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 user interface with a full metal gear and only 12.9 mm thick, this newcomer isn't somebody to mess around with.

We've already laid down some of the specs for you in a previous rumor, Samsung i7110 comes with a 2.6-inch OLED display with QVGA resolution, optical trackpad and an accelerometer for auto screen rotation. Wi-Fi (with DLNA) and GPS are also on board. To better utilize the GPS functionality, Samsung will ship the device with the Samsung Navigator application, which is based on the Route66 popular GPS navigation software. It will offer pedestrian GPS navigation for 10 major cities in Western Europe.

The Samsung i7110 5 megapixel camera also offers some advanced camera features such as geotagging, face, smile and blink detection. It captures video in up to VGA resolution at 30fps and there's also a high-speed video recording mode.

Multimedia-wise the Samsung i7110 also impresses with DivX and XviD video support straight out of the box, DNSe 2.0 audio technology, and there's also a FM transmitter, which allows you to stream your music collection to any FM receiver you can find. The storage space of 50MB won't get you far in that respect, but you can always expand it with an optional microSD memory card (up to 16GB).

The Samsung i7110 should be available in Europe just in time for the Christmas holidays. It will start shipping first in Russia from November 2008 with other markets following soon.

People still not confident with Samsung phones maybe. But with the looks and specs, it can definitely get some share from N and G series.

My verdict after weeks of testing,

Pros:

Love the screen and resolutions. Slightly bigger n vivid than an N79.
Touchpad functions wonderfully. Sensitive and large enough.
Pretty stable for a S60 mobile.
Solid feel, doesnt feel cheap unlike the 6220 classic.
Divx is a great add-on.

Cons:

Hate the weight.
Hate the thickness.
Hate the battery life.
Hate the lack of processing power.

Summary:

Better off buying an N79. Virtually the same functions and a competitor for the N79.
What the N79 has, this phone will have. cept the AP set price of the N79 which is alot cheaper. Only
Auto rotate screen, FM transmitter which in this case they name both of it sumthing different but performs the same task. GPS nav is going to bundled with igo.
MSRP RM 1800.

I installed GMXT myself. Works with alot of lagginess. Immense amount of lagginess and until they release the final version, i juz pray for you buyers out there, this is hopefully not going to make u miss 2 turnings.

*edited, forgot to remove something from the pic. done and enjoy !

Can you tell me why you hate the battery life for Samsung i7110 ? According the the GSMARENA.com, the i7110 battery life indeed is among the best even if comparing with other brand of mobile phones. Below are the battery information extracted from the gsmarena website. I like i7110 for 2 main reasons: the 5M camera and the battery life. Please advise me if there is a better than this phone for the price lesser than RM 2000.

hate the battery life simply because it is being drained too much.

according to gmsarena ....who cares bout gsm arena. i'm having the phone right now in my hands.
will not advise anything . plenty of options around for RM2k. N79 with the exact same specs is below RM2k.

according to your statement, u like the i7110 for its battery life and 5m camera.
have u played with it ?
oh btw, a vivid screen like that, sucks up all the juice. i'd very much like to provide you with alot more tech info (graphs and charts from test readouts but unfortunately samsung does not allow me to do so. i have to keep this bit of information .......proprietary.

No..no... I am here is not to create any argument. I just want to get clarification about this new Samsung i7110, because I still not able to find it in Malaysia market. And I am currently looking for a phone that is good camera and long battery life, and based on the GSMarena.com search, this Samsung i7110 is in my list. Since you are currently using this phone, and your feedback about the poor battery life, and then I would say this GSMarena.com has misleading information rclxub.gif

Many thank to you and also lowyat forum, allowing me to seek more feedback about a new products. Appreciate if you could provide me more technical info, & graphs. May be you can advise me a better phones with 3 criteria (about RM2000, 5M camera & long battery life). Thank you. smile.gif
