1.0 in two, three years time is not impossible, provided KNM maintains their solid track record and manages their gearing properly.

Normally when these research houses put their 'targets' e.g. for KNM MYR1.25 target, do they mean their forecast of the valuation of the company within 1 year's time? 2 year's time? 5 year's time?

Appreciate any experienced investor's comments smile.gif

QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Jan 31 2009, 03:29 PM)
Better to pay more attention to NTA and future  PEs , rather than putting too much weight or hope on Target/Price. Whether is it worthwhile to make such purchase  is important. T/P to me is the spread/room to make  if purchase at current price , the more the better, before reaching the fair value called T/P.

Generally, i think it is good to make 20 to 30% profit during the current situation , unless it is for very long term. T/P is just taken as upside potential. Case like IOI could overshoot the T/P as well. T/P could also be used to mean that the stock is now reaching a fair value, so it is to sell. If the T/P is very close to current price, I may not make a purchase of the stock.

It is my own way to " judge"  it, maybe not work for others.

Thanks for the feedback SKY. Insightful.

Looks like trading activity on the KNM counter is back to normal retail mode again.

If one closely monitors the ticker, it looks like a natural fight between supply and demand (without any of the big fishes with their big volumes)

Haha hey umiko-san, good to see you back again.

My opinion is that recently the company is supporting itself at 0.430, anything that hits below, it will buy back. So that's why there is a base at that price.

As for it hitting 0.60... it really depends on what the annual report from KNM at the end of this month say. I just hope it is positive smile.gif

Things been quiet around this thread ^^ anybody still holding onto this stock? I haven't jumped the boat yet...

Since the rumours on the cancelled contracts have already been clarified officially, hope that the negative news has already been priced in.

Very much looking forward to seeing the annual report of KNM due this week.

The thing to look forward to is to check the current state of its financials, as well as on the action plans of the management in view of the financial crisis. Interesting week if you're still holding onto this counter.

1) The above Company's securities will be traded and quoted [ "Ex - Dividend" ]
as from : [ 11 March 2009 ]
2) The last date of lodgement : [ 13 March 2009 ]

Hi, need some clarification from the sifus using KNM's announcement above:

1. For a dividend to be given to a KNM investor, does the investor have to hold on to the shares until
a) the end of 11 March 2009? Or is it
b) until the end of 10 March 2009? Or is it
c) until any point during 11 March 2009 (e.g. holding until noon then sold off) ?

2. What is the significance of the 'last date of lodgement'?

Not planning to offload my current KNM holdings, but just want to be clear so I know what kind of price movement to expect so I know when to time my buying this month.

My take is when the traders leave after taking the dividend, the stock price goes down, and that's when investors will buy in. So would be great if any seasoned investors can help me answer the above 2 questions smile.gif

QUOTE(burp110 @ Mar 1 2009, 11:14 PM)
Let's say you knm closes at 0.40 on 10 march.

then, 11 march is the ex-div date. since the div is 1+0.5sen, total is 1.5sen.

hence, the reference price for 11 march will be 0.40 - 1.5 = 38.5sen.

Let's talk about lodgement date.

T is when you buy.

At T+1, buyer's broker pays seller's broker.

T+2, seller's broker receives money and initiates transfer of shares.

T+3, buyer receives shares, ie MCD records are reflected.

Hence, although the buyer is only registered with mcd as a s/h on T+3, he is entitled to all rights to the share at T. that's why the lodgement date is always 2 mkt days later. nothing to worry about. just make sure you hold the share on date before the ex date. you will be entitled to the div even if you sell it on the exdate itself. cause your entitlement is based on the closing of the day you buy ie T.

Crude breaks USD50. Good sign for KNM. Means less likelihood of cancellation of projects. Hope the price consolidates in this region.

I've already taken my profit, to play safe, with view to get back in once it corrects itself. KNM is a good company, make no mistake about that.

However, the uptrend has gone on for far too long in my opinion smile.gif Not just at KNM, at KLCI and DJIA too.

*caveat emptor: Please make your own decision ar.. don't blame me if i'm wrong tongue.gif

Haha.. CKC, good to meet you. Please continue to share your insightful thoughts in this forum.

We are all supporters of KNM here. Me myself am a 28 year old computer games producer, part-time investor.

And yes, although sometimes we trade, ultimately we are investors in the company.

I share and agree with your fundamental analysis. But since the big bear that hit, i've lost my belief in the buy and hold strategy, and so my investment style will sometimes mix a bit of technical analysis to help retain profits.

Having said that, to me, reading and studying the company's annual and monthly financial reports and understanding the industry is still the key!

teewan: Is it possible to use stock assets to get that margin facility? Or must it be tangible assets like properties?

Too fast already ... and it getting scary already ... if slot in now it really danger.

Any insider news on this counter that push it this high within a week? i personally feel fishy on this

Umikosan, i think you're right. To me it's also going up too high too quickly, the retracement will come soon.
Now is either the time to hold or to sell, or to wait to buy when it dips.
