There are only 2 places in KL which has the best steaks.

1) Marble 8 : Nicely aged steaks, great service, will not overcook if you ask for rare or medium rare. The sauces are nicely done too.

2) Chambers Grill @ Hilton KL: Forget Prime. This is da bomb. Order a 350gm steak, rare and feel like the manly man you are while you tuck into the perfect steak.

All other steakhouses can go close shop. Either they overcook or they serve frozen steaks which tastes horrible.

Marble 8.... the RM78 soup and RM2000 caviar is kinda pricey.

While the steak 350gm @ $390, thats a little more 'reasonable'

People have gone nuts when they think paying Rm390 for badly done steak is "reasonable".

I dont know about your experience, mine was fine per my lowly standard.

Perhaps you would liek to share your experience at Marble 8?

I will do better than that. When I have time over the weekend I might do one and post pix. Show you guys how batshit easy it is, won't need 300 bux
either lol.

BTW why is the middle raised like that? like they somehow managed to scorch the middle.

From the photo, the cut is ribeye. It is natural to have tendon to separate different muscle, and few people eat this tendon.
Full blood, high marbling wagyu is expensive. At $1,000 per kg, restaurant margin is lower than conventional steak.

marble 8 serve aged beef.. not wagyu...

and yes.. despite it being wagyu... the cow still has tendon.. shocking huh tongue.gif

Except wagyu, doubt other cattle could yield marbling of 8.

Every cattle has tendon.

er.. marble 8 is the name of the place... not the beef...

as for tendon, i was taking a poke at our fren wodenus who is suppose to cook up a great steak and let us bask in his awesomeness

Western food is the coolest ever. Plop a steak on a grill for a short while, remove and place on plate:  Rm200-300. Boil a chicken, chop the chicken, prepare a sauce from ginger and garlic, cook rice with some herbs, arrange chicken on plate, cover with sauce, scoop rice on plate, scoop soup into bowl, add parsley: Rm18 if even that much smile.gif

But enough said. Weekend we'll see.

If you want to break it down to the bare material cost, without taking into consideration the rental of the place, the service, the ambience, etc then you dont EVER have to eat outside. Oh and pls cut your own hair, sew your own cloths, etc cause obviously those are overcharging as well..

Yea well, you shouldn't go to Marble 8 for soup and caviar. You go to Marble 8 for their steaks. Much more reasonable than Prime. The Mandarin Grill is another really nice place for steaks too. I was quite surprised upon finding out that the sides are charged less than Marble 8.

I alrdy banned Prime long ago....

Went there with some freinds from oversea.... it was an embarrasing experience...

Mandarin Grill, was that the place they recently converted to some pseudo michellin star outfit?

What happened at Prime?

Mine have always been constantly decent for KL.
*
1. They were out of ALL those aged/grain fed steak
2. the steak were consistently over cooked for 4 out of 5 orders.
3. Service were bad, perhaps thats because we were dressed like cina-beng and not some gwailou in suits.

Eh? No la, Mandarin Grill is one of the restaurants in the Mandarin Oriental, which specialises in steaks. Just like Chambers Grill at Hilton KL smile.gif

Um.. u must have missed it.

SOmewhere around Aug, mandarin grill KL was converted to Aziamendi88 for some michellin experience, it lasted around 3 months, the lunch was around 500 (without wine), couldnt book the dinner cause by the time i heard about it... fully booked liao.
