I have a very peculiar problem here. I am using iPhone 3G with FW 2.1, unlocked set from Singapore. I am using it virgin style (no jailbreak etc). I have been using for about a month without any issue until yesterday.
I was still using the phone(phone call and SMS) yesterday morning. The moment I went into my office, my phone showed "No Service". Which was weird. So I turned off and on the phone. Still the same.
Then I went to Settings>Carrier to search for the carrier. It searched and found all the providers "My Maxis, My Maxis 3G, My Celcom, My Celcom 3G, etc". So I selected My Maxis 3G. Once I select that, I will get "Network Lost - Your selected cellular network is no longer available. You can choose a different network in Settings". I have tried this with every other provider 3G and non 3G. Still the same.
So went to Apple Support page to try out their suggestions. One of their things was to toggle Airplane Mode. When I do that, the phone will start searching for new network. After 2-3 minutes later, it will detect back the network. But this connection will last between 10-30 minutes. I have tried resetting the phone and still the same thing.
I was pretty set that something is wrong with the phone and decided to restore it back once I get home. To my surprise, there is no problem connecting to Maxis at my housing area.
I thought it was fluke, played around with the phone for like an hour, still active connection. Still baffled, decided to restore the phone anyway, just in case. After restore, nothing was wrong. I was quite happy.
Stepped in to the office this morning. Same thing happen
I tried swapping SIM card with my friend. It's still the same. My SIM can work in his phone without a problem and his SIM card cannot work in mine. Both phone next to each other. I don't know what else to do.
