newbie here…50% music/50% movies, actually more music – all types…prefer the receiver to do 4K up-scaling as I’m considering a 4K TV…

looking at Wharfedale and Acoustic Energy at the moment…and saw there is a Wharfedale package at Desa for diamond 10.6, WH-sr2, spc-8 and Marantz 5008 for RM8499 I think, is the price worth it?

leaning towards Wharfedale as it looks like AE Series 3 will be more expensive and not sure there will be a noticeable difference in sound quality? any sifu here have listening experience?

question – for wharfedale, is the 157 replacing the 10.7? big difference in sound quality or is it better off to opt for 10.7, which should be cheaper?

all comment and help welcome thumbup.gif

no doubt acoustic energy is good looking. i have an older set and still keeping them.
wharfedale 10.6 floorstander will produce more mid bass compared to AE series 3 smile.gif but SPC-8 is a bit small to get bass like cinema effects

not sure about the 157 model

thanks ktek!

just confirmed the AE3 series will be much more expensive! the AE1 series will be about the same cost but will probably be inferior to wharfy 10.6??

if im getting the wharfy package, I will change the sub to MX10....will that be a sufficient upgrade? I read somewhere that MX10 will not provide the significant improvement in bass as its frequency will not go lower than the 10.6 or 10.7 floorstanders?? any advice?

finally bite the bullet and join the club...not an expert but so far like the sound vs. AE, KEF (too bright for me), etc

10.7
10CM
10DFS
SPC-10
Marantz sr5008

my current temp place is too small to fit all in so I just unpacked the sr5008 and 10.7...have to put the CM back into the box as its too bloody big!!!...
my new place will have space to fit all...but so far so good...im enjoying it rclxms.gif

but a word of caution, my experience with Desa is not pleasant...thought im bringing new stock home but during unpacking 2-3 days later (im busy), they were clearly used units...
I have to packed and bring the whole lot back for exchange...to cut the long story short, the majority of stock at Desa is clearly not new...so beware!...

how much u got your sr5008?
*
hi loon, I got them all in a package price. For standalone sr5008, I do not think it will be above rm3000.

which one of the items u bought from them is used one ah?
i just bought sr5008 from them...
*
hi loon, actually all the speakers I bought are clearly used items...
the sr5008 looks to be alright, i guess sr5008 was only in Malaysia not too long ago so chances of used units are lower...
how much you pay for yours? u only bought sr5008? wat speakers u pair with?

lets just say the exchange procedure took very long so I was able to see a lot of things...I dun think I will go back there ever again...

that's a pretty good price! so u enjoy it so far with your KEF?
so far I'm happy my wharfys are singing with the sr5008...
I'm also happy with the sr5008 easy setup, including pulling music over my LAN...
just hope nothing breaks as going back to Desa will be a nightmare!
