Ya, really unlucky against Wigan.  sad.gif

With Chelsea dropping points, we had a chance to go third if we won.

Blackburn is having a bit of successful run lately but we're gonna put an end to that, and hopefully jump to 3rd...

Browsed the paper today and delighted that Capello have called-up Gareth, Gabby, Emile, Ashley, Luke and James Milner for the Spain's friendly with Gabby and Emile are likely to lead the attack. Great stuff! And I think Ashley's the answer to England's left midfield crisis prayer...

Thanks 4 the compliment...kind of reminds me of the mid 90's to the early 2000's when Beckham, both Nevilles, Butt, Scholes, Sheringham, Cole etc did the business for England...hopefully AV and MU will have a good run in the title chase..

yeah.. when was the last time we see 5 villa player might be performing for England? I can't remember... hehe... Great stuff.. It reminds me of the past liverpool (supplying england strikers in owen and heskey), and man utd (supplying the midfield in beckham, scholes) and arsenal (supplying the defence in adams and keown). What i would love to see us Villa supllying the whole department in england squad (upfront -gabby and heskey , mid - barry, milner, young, defence - davies and l.young).. That will b fantastic.

Although i am a Man Utd fan through and through, AV is also one of the teams in BPL that i hold high regards in. I am a person who likes a club that is build based on history and hardwork, not by pure cash. In fact, i am managing Aston Villa in my Football manager 2009 game, into my 4th season now, won the league 2 times and 1 Champions League tongue.gif

All the best in your hunt for glory, and hope you will secure a UCL spot, u guys will get big money, while limiting the other rivals of Man utd, a win-win situation laugh.gif

Just 4 discussion...currently, the best scenario is the Premiership title@UCL spot and FA trophy, but if we are to choose only one of them, which one do you all prefer? FA trophy and no UCL spot or UCL spot but another trophyless season?

Replying to Stonei's comments, I believe villa should strive for UCL possition rather than FA Cup glory. Why? We can participate the Fa Cup envery year, but not everytime we are in a pos to grab a UCL spot. Plus, it will boost our income greatly and great tv insentives as we are in the most lucurative competition in the world (in terms of club football). But if we can win the FA CUp, it will be massive also. Hope we can do it both (if gabby, milly, barry and ashly are not injured for a long time). just my 2 cent

That's very unwise of you to say that. You will be in for a roasting if you don't get your facts right.

Owh...That era....Perhaps you need a little reminder of a certain dutch striker called Ruud Van Nistelrooy and an Argentine midfielder called Juan Sebastian Veron. The former cost 19m while the latter cost almost 30m.That's season 2000-2001.

If you are talking about earlier seasons, alright, lets head back to season 1998–99.A total of almost £28million had been spent on signing Dwight Yorke, Jaap Stam and Jesper Blomqvist.

Dwight Yorke -£12.6 million
Jaap Stam -£10.6 million.
Jesper Blomqvist - £4.4 million.

Total:27.6m smile.gif

A season after that, Barthez joined in for £7.8....If that's what you call little money.... doh.gif
