Well shader has a "little" improvement, but the real improvement is from the load that goes to the processor. Remember crysis? Even with all the graphic hax, tehre is still one thing that the DX9 version can't do. and that is running crysis in server mode with all physics on. It will just crash the PC because the processor cannot handle all the data sent by the client. Heck, it can't even run Night/day cycle.
In DX10 however it run just fine. Not much difference huh?

It's a big difference. I think this thread should be closed in order to prevent flaming (not saying it has happened).

Actually, i don't care about Crysis or any FPS for that matter. AFAIK, image quality has miniscule improvement in 99% of the games so far compare to their DX9 counterparts. Hardly anything that jumps out and scream 'Next Gen Graphics!!!' on it.

The directX 10 in implemented within vista itself rdy, no nid to uninstall to upgrade it. U juz install the latest directX-August which will include latest update in D-X10. So, no worry in playing ur favourite games, bro. Affirmative..hehe! ^^

Like I said, the advantage is not really about the graphic. It's about developers can now create more complex physic without fearing the game will make the PC slow down to a crawl.

wait dx11 next year..... but dunno wat is da different.... i read somewhere that say ati dx11 card will be released next year...huhuhuhuhu

with no currect OS supporting DX11, don't you think it's just PR hype by ATi?

I read somewhere that Microsoft will also deploying DX11 to Vista (and of course no XP), but where did I read that... hmmmm...

Hate Vista one thing is that my cs won't work anymore after I installed directx 10;
other than that; vista is definitely roxxor and i stand my point because i have no problem using vista so far; not even a single crash on drivers like when I was using XP or any errors that randomly appear on XP..

No flames on XP lovers, just my personal view on vista; and I haven't get any slowdown on Vista so far; even it's been a while I am using it. If I am using XP now, it will automatically run slower

which CS version you have? I have 1.6 without problem here, even Age of Empires I is running fine without the need of compatibility setting...

I am playing cs 1.6.. I know that some people has no problem but I do have and there are tons of users out there with the same problem with mine..

That is after load cs 1.6, DOD or HL1, it will hang when we try to create game or connect to any server. So far I found no solution yet; and this happens to most of Vista users..

Only hl.exe got problem for me; other than that Vista is totally kick ass OS.. I love it

Have you tried compatibility mode? I had CS1.6 installed before and it gave me no trouble.

When I used to play games last time, I never had any problems with CS:S neither did I have any problems in CS 1.6, be it me joining or hosting a server. Please make sure that you update your graphics card driver.

Yea I did updated my graphic drivers and it is the latest; well I don't know why but it works last time until I install direct x 10 and SP1. Then it hangs

Actually Vista missing bunch of essentail DirectX 9 DLLs.
Many games/apps that use DirectX 9 might require external DLL.

1. eg D3DX9_34.DLL, Call of Duty 4 require this DLL to run the game, but the fact is vista does not have it. Game maker might includes the DirectX 9 end user runtimes together with the game but most of them might be outdated.
2. Media player classic, the Custom pixel shaders, require one of the Direct X 9 end user Runtime DLL too, without it the video still plays, but the Custom pixel shader option will not work, without any error message prompted.
If you guys have any problem with the DLL missings or some other problems, try get the bi-monthly updates DirectX Enduser runtimes here:

tried everything from reinstalling the whole steam; the game, windows graphic drivers and also directx 9 files; but nothing works so far

Please open a thread in "Technical Support" and close this one or ask a mod to move it. I don't really know whats the problem, may I know your graphics card?

i wan play my online game on vista ultimate
but i say tat only birect x9.0c can play lol
