for nb multi to be effective (as what u've set in bios), u gotta do a cold boot(shutdown). not restart. this is what u'll do, set d desired multi, save & exit. press d power button when ya system start postin. leave it few seconds, then boot into windows, voila... u got ya nb multi changed...  smile.gif

nightmare playin w/ d 790gx a2+?  blink.gif

u'll luv d board once ur comfortable w/ it, d only drawback (for me) is d position of cmos jumper. it's located rite below d primary pcie 16x slot. kinda troublesome if u need to clear cmos.  sad.gif
*
Hope so that I could clock higher with my current setup. My PSU and rams might pull me back shakehead.gif
In deed it's very mah fan...PCI-E card is blocking the cmos jumper doh.gif
Biostar should have placed it in the middle of the board laugh.gif

imo, d clear cmos jumper should be placed near d external start/reset buttons, it's d most accessible area.  smile.gif
biostar = decent oc + value for $$$. if biostar = geng, then what u'll say bout dfi (yes, i'm one bias b@st@rd  tongue.gif ) or asus or foxconn?  laugh.gif

get a gx a2+, it's a decent oc board that won't burn holes in ya wallet, else, dfi ftw...  flex.gif
*
TA790GX 128M RM355... TA790GX A2+ should b much cheaper
DFI definitely rocks thumbup.gif but costs more $$$ sweat.gif

Guy's just need ur opinions ah, i'm thinkin of getting me a Phenom 9850BE + Biostar TA790GXAM2+...
Are these component a good combo??
I don't really wanna spend too much eg. above RM3xx~400 on mobo's ler..

Added on October 8, 2008, 4:31 pm

Which place is selling the TA790GX 128M at RM355??

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Oct 8 2008, 04:40 PM)
i doubt there'll be big diff in price for d 2, most likely RM20~30 cheaper only. but heck, why pay more if u don't really use d sideport mem rite? to be honest, asus seems to be more powa in oc now (thanks to it's new 790fx + sb750 & not forgettin d 8 + 2 power phase  drool.gif  wub.gif  lust.gif ). it's still too early to judge thou coz dfi just launched their new series of board not so long ago. built quality wise, asus win hands down (asus @ 8+2 vs dfi & others @ 4+1), but that indicates more $$$ needed too...  sweat.gif
d combo will do just fine, all u need to do is to sink d mosfets if u plan to oc d b.e chip, which all of us know are hotter than those 95w phenoms.  smile.gif
*
Right. A2+ should be slightly cheaper
No doubt on Asus + DFI wub.gif

QUOTE(cloudwan @ Oct 8 2008, 04:42 PM)
Oh yer, to all Biostar TA790GX users, do u have any prob with heat at the mosfets coz from the pics on the net the mobo doesn't have any heatsink or any cooling solution on the mosfet..
Kinda scare if it goes kaboom or something if i o/c..

Added on October 8, 2008, 4:45 pm

Any other mobo's that fit my bill which has heatsink on it's mosfet??

Noob question again doh.gif I'm not sure if this has been asked b4...
OC in BIOS or AOD better?
In TA790GX
BIOS: got NB setting
AOD: got ACC setting... I couldn't find NB freq setting
Would applying AOD OC in setting during startup cause windows hang? unsure.gif
Please assist smile.gif

that's d fun part of oc... if u want hassle free oc then u mite consider other option...  tongue.gif

u can place ya gfx at pci-e x16 slot 2 (d upper one) while findin d max clock of ya setup, 8x @ pci-e 2.0 (u gotta enable it in bios) aint too bad mah... save u lotsa trouble removin d card over & over again just to clear d cmos. optionally u can ask anyone w/ small fingers in ya place to set d jumper for u...  tongue.gif

i got big thumb that's why i was so frustrated everytime i need to clear cmos (back then)...  vmad.gif  doh.gif  laugh.gif

AMD = (low cost mobo + low cost proc) x OC = low/moderate performance
Intel = ($$$ mobo + $$$ proc + $$$ ram) x OC = excellent sweat.gif
But I stick to AMD with low cost entry brows.gif
DFI is definitely thumbup.gif but off my wish list moneyflies.gif

No worry bro. I always respect sifus around. thumbup.gif
It's just that I dont know how to do it with cable...
Pulling out cable + jumper from CMOS is easy but putting it back, we need something hard rite?
Coz space is super tight, very hard to aim properly... you have any pic on modded cable? brows.gif

Now running 24/7 BT setting @ 2.4/ 2.5Ghz at +0.12V on cpu vcore, other voltage at stock. Lowered NB and HTT multiplier to x8.
Will post more results on Sunday if I find success... wont b free next week then as I hav assignment in Astro
