QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Oct 8 2008, 12:29 AM) for nb multi to be effective (as what u've set in bios), u gotta do a cold boot(shutdown). not restart. this is what u'll do, set d desired multi, save & exit. press d power button when ya system start postin. leave it few seconds, then boot into windows, voila... u got ya nb multi changed... Thank you for the tips |

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Oct 8 2008, 09:37 AM) nightmare playin w/ d 790gx a2+? Hope so that I could clock higher with my current setup. My PSU and rams might pull me back u'll luv d board once ur comfortable w/ it, d only drawback (for me) is d position of cmos jumper. it's located rite below d primary pcie 16x slot. kinda troublesome if u need to clear cmos. In deed it's very mah fan...PCI-E card is blocking the cmos jumper Biostar should have placed it in the middle of the board |

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Oct 8 2008, 04:18 PM) imo, d clear cmos jumper should be placed near d external start/reset buttons, it's d most accessible area. TA790GX 128M RM355... TA790GX A2+ should b much cheaperbiostar = decent oc + value for $$$. if biostar = geng, then what u'll say bout dfi (yes, i'm one bias b@st@rd get a gx a2+, it's a decent oc board that won't burn holes in ya wallet, else, dfi ftw... DFI definitely rocks |

QUOTE(cloudwan @ Oct 8 2008, 04:30 PM) Guy's just need ur opinions ah, i'm thinkin of getting me a Phenom 9850BE + Biostar TA790GXAM2+... See rock rock's thread. But his shop bit 'cacat' Are these component a good combo?? I don't really wanna spend too much eg. above RM3xx~400 on mobo's ler.. Added on October 8, 2008, 4:31 pm Which place is selling the TA790GX 128M at RM355?? http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f=54&t=607200 P/s: I am not related to rock rock QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Oct 8 2008, 04:40 PM) i doubt there'll be big diff in price for d 2, most likely RM20~30 cheaper only. but heck, why pay more if u don't really use d sideport mem rite? to be honest, asus seems to be more powa in oc now (thanks to it's new 790fx + sb750 & not forgettin d 8 + 2 power phase Right. A2+ should be slightly cheaperd combo will do just fine, all u need to do is to sink d mosfets if u plan to oc d b.e chip, which all of us know are hotter than those 95w phenoms. No doubt on Asus + DFI QUOTE(cloudwan @ Oct 8 2008, 04:42 PM) Oh yer, to all Biostar TA790GX users, do u have any prob with heat at the mosfets coz from the pics on the net the mobo doesn't have any heatsink or any cooling solution on the mosfet.. I have seen mosfets blown in TA790GX Kinda scare if it goes kaboom or something if i o/c.. Added on October 8, 2008, 4:45 pm Any other mobo's that fit my bill which has heatsink on it's mosfet?? |

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Oct 10 2008, 10:24 AM) that's d fun part of oc... if u want hassle free oc then u mite consider other option... u can place ya gfx at pci-e x16 slot 2 (d upper one) while findin d max clock of ya setup, 8x @ pci-e 2.0 (u gotta enable it in bios) aint too bad mah... save u lotsa trouble removin d card over & over again just to clear d cmos. optionally u can ask anyone w/ small fingers in ya place to set d jumper for u... i got big thumb that's why i was so frustrated everytime i need to clear cmos (back then)... QUOTE(digswell @ Oct 10 2008, 10:25 AM) Wahaha I am thinking of modding the CMOS jumper with tooth pick/ satay stick + super glue I can burn satay while OC ... |

AMD = (low cost mobo + low cost proc) x OC = low/moderate performance
Intel = ($$$ mobo + $$$ proc + $$$ ram) x OC = excellent But I stick to AMD with low cost entry DFI is definitely |
