End of Eva is an alternate retelling of ep 25-26 of Eva series. BUt honestly, I liked the way ep 25-26 is presented. It's just mind blowing. I still prefer the ori anime series as it gives it enought time to develop the characters and build it up for ep 25-26.

According to this blog entry, if I'm reading it right, EVA01 was NOT pierced by "The Spear of Longinus", but instead "The Spear of Cassius".

Now, the Roman Centurion who supposedly used the mythical "Longinus spear" from real life stories, was named Gaius Cassius Longinus, so it is still related to the same spear. How different the spear is, or if it's not just the same spear renamed, is still unknown.

However, this could also mean that the OTHER spear, currently in the basement of NERV, could really be the Lance of Longinus.

Maybe I'm slowpoking hard here, but it is the first I've heard of "The Spear of Cassius".
