please please² don't confuse..

as far as i knew..

500gb & 1tb F3 are 7200rpm
1.5tb & 2tb F3 are 5400rpm

but there are fast.. look on yangxi post of 2tb and it could be true for 1.5tb as well..

even i did the comparison between 1tb F3 with my own WD Black Carviar..

as for WD green mostly believe it's actually 5400rpm.. i heard enough on ppl regretting to own it at the first place.. especially on performance issue..

it's not about spec on papers.. i more prefer on the real life experience..
and i like when using F3 while transferring big files.. which indeed nowadays need.. gosh i sound like promoter.. lol..

price wise just same..
1.5tb F2 using 4platter while F3 just 3..
logic wise.. access faster..

actually i want to buy it last time.. but no stock.. coz the price just more RM10-15 compare to 1tb WD black..
but end up with 1tb F3 for rm260.. cheap..

lok3i,

if u look back on your question i quoted @ the very beginning ur referring to the F3..

thus any size would taking place regardless what ever name they used to be..
lol the F3 itself not even stated on the label..

everybody can google..
if u ever knew the F3 performance is quite the same despite rated @ difference rpm.. not like wd..
that's the most important info u should know..

Let me explain to u laa..

Spinpoint F3 for 500GB and 1TB only coz has 7200rpm speed
Spinpoint F3 EcoGreen (F3EG) for 1.5TB and 2TB coz has 5400rpm speed

The famous one is F3 500GB and F3 1TB coz its fast
*
am i not stated the 5400rpm @ the first place?
lol u need some reading..

LOL..my point is:

1. Spinpoint F3 500GB and F3 1TB is fast..
2. But, F3 EcoGreen 1.5TB and 2.0TB is just like WD Caviar Green 64MB..(use 500GB platter and running at 5400rpm)

so, your statement is not true..
"F3 performance is quite the same despite rated @ difference rpm"
*
that's the reason why i asked u to try urself..
and compare them where possible..
why not u share with us the wd reading atleast? nod.gif

for ur referrence :
user posted image

user posted image

last time wd green can't even reach 100MB/s.. mostly report around 88MB/s..
so F3 is preferred because it's faster and priced cheaper..

if wd can perform well, cheap with low temp n less noise.. great then.. cool.gif

then to answer about the..
"F3 performance is quite the same despite rated @ difference rpm"
which possible
115MB/s (5400rpm F3) - 130MB/s (7200rpm F3) transfer rate rather than less 90MB/s.. (wd green which is i donno they claimed as 7200rpm) wink.gif

since u have WD Caviar Green 64MB, can share the reading with us? icon_rolleyes.gif

bros,

spinpoint and ecogreen is it the same ?

Added on April 12, 2010, 2:00 pmany bros here can lemme know where can i find 1.5TB F3 in klang valley ? searched up n low only found F2 :S
*
First u need to know it's Samsung spinpoint..
there are F1, F2 and the latest F3.. (revision btw)

they are different size rated @
-7200rpm
-5400rpm (this is so called spinpoint ecogreen - F3EG)

ofcourse higher rpm perform better, just that if we consider the size, price etc.. a slight performance different won't that bad either..

Any benchmark on this HDD currently? I can't seem to find it on the web now... if the difference is not big, then I'll probably exchange it with 2x 750GB instead of 1x of 1TB
*
u should check what antonio posted..
if in raid i think maybe around 250MB/s..

why not 2x1tb.. since u have one..

Yeah I know the trade-off of RAID 0, but I'm going to mirror it using RAID 1 instead, so for my case the performance is not really matter at least it should be on par with the 1TB, so for 2x of 750GB is definitely be a lot cheaper compare to 2x 1TB. Since many peoples are having good time with their 1TB, just wanna know if it is really far better than the 750GB.
*
i not sure what u seek.. if performance is not an option..
better just grab the 1.5tb version which i think the same price as 2x750gb..

with both running u need to consider heat, power consumption and also space for them..

Guys, below is the screen shot that I did for HDDTune for my WD Raptor 36Gb 8Gb RAID 0.

Not sure is it good idea to replace it with Samsung F3 500GB (1 drive configuration).
