i didn't double dip per say..just sold off my original cr007, then decided to get the 2-disc one..cannot tahan. dr. no is on the way later this year.

i think from the bond collection, the only one worth getting is dr. no. i don't like brosnan's 007...too cheesy sometimes (exception of goldeneye)

i read reviews, saying that the AQ may be slightly better due to dobby mah...but PQ same i guess. best thing abt this is extra special features...so must buy for bond enthusiasts.

also got e-movie voucher for quantum of soles...but mana boleh pakai sini...

haven't tested water yet..maybe tonite. no time this whole week..test water to bathe also no time.

hmm..ok just watched CR007 collector's, and one thing i can say is:

audio is definitely different. but of course, it's subjective to others' ears.

my take on it is...the dolby trueHD soundtrack is a bit more balanced..in terms of the dialogue parts and the action parts. also, it seems more enveloping compared to the PCM track.

the PCM track, was a bit bassy especially those explosions...and the dialogue seemed drowned a bit. but during the first scene where le chiffre meets the freedom fighter, the sound of the rain and the dialogue were perfect to my ears with this dolby version.

the explosions in the dolby track also seems a bit subdued compared to PCM, but it's still a joy to hear the gunshots and the chaos.

so i would give the same recommendation as blu-ray.com's review said: for those who don't have CR007 yet, this is the edition to buy!

PQ, nothing much different...it's still the same awesome PQ like the original version.



p.s: issit just me, or did the PS3's volume controls added a 4th notch after the 2.50 update?

i thought last time up to 3 only? i put full blast at 4, and now it seems that no more minor cracking/hissing sound when put to maximum volume in PS3. very nice!

on other note, to further verify that amazon is improving their shipping service:

i recently placed a few orders like bro aiman did, all pre-orders and they immediately grouped as separate shipment for each title.

then i decided to combine and add new order: Dr. No (which is already in stock), but they lumped it to be shipped together with my last shipment which is due December.

So, i gave an email to amazon, just to ask to split the shipment so that i receive my Dr. No first, but the rest shall remain as separate shipments, and guess what?

they replied, and they split it and already processing the shipment for Dr. No. This is very good of Amazon! kudos to their better service now!

and yes, i confirm they split the delivery cost into per shipment.

that was what i was thinking...but well, those with extra cash and the passion for certain things always end up buying the different versions just cause.

at the end of the day, it's still iron man. unless it's a different extended version, or better AQ/PQ or an uncut version..that's something else.

but hey, to each his/her own.

as long as we're all BD addicts, we're gonna spend like crazy!

okay quick review on Get Smart BD:


PQ: 4/5

Consistent brightness, colors throughout the movie, although there's not one scene where colors pop out or seem vibrant. it all seems balanced, and clean, crisp. There are certain scenes however, which seem to be slightly washed out for a few seconds. overall, nice looking BD!

AQ: 2/5

Ugh..a bloody disaster. Following Speed Racer, this title is in Dolby Digital and no HD audio!!! WTF WB?? The explosions, soundtrack, gunshots are all nice in surround, but the dialogue is disappointing. Muffled, a bit low..i had to crank the amp a few notches to get a balance. Basically same thing which happened to Speed Racer. Disappointing.

Movie: 4/5

This is the first time I watched Get Smart, and I must say it's pretty good. It takes cues from the TV show in its mannerisms and feel but on the other hand, it has a modernized take on it. However, I must still say it almost went into a generic modern spy-spoof movie, but luckily it managed to stay at its borders. The storyline is surprisingly good, although not great. If you watch this with no - low expectations, it may very well surprise you. Acting is ok at the very least; Carrell with his same shtick as the stone faced idiot who thinks he knows it all, but luckily he doesn't take his Office character into this role. He still manages to balance out the blissfully unaware idiot with some charm and brilliance in being an analyst. Bottom line, he's still funny and charming. Anne Hathaway was ok to me, although i must admit I was blinded by her huge eyes, lips, teeth and chest.

Extras:

The Get Smart BD comes with a digital copy and a DVD Game a la Speed Racer.

just got back from Quantum of Solace.

In a nutshell, i'm a bit disappointed. I would give it a 4/5 if only i was made to understand that this was a generic, action film with Daniel Craig starring in it.

However, knowing and expecting well that it's a Bond movie, it clearly doesn't reflect it. It was too action oriented..and there's no Bond charm.

What I hated the most is: the lame opening and closing. Not strong enough! And Alicia Keys RUINS THE GODDAMN SONG.

well..i'll still buy it cos it's a Bond film anyway.
