Hmmm... maybe because I'm comparing to cons from where I studied. No doubt that they're big, but there are basic items really left out off the con experience, some probably have minimal cost/time/effort to set up. I'm not going to mention them here (save it for when M'sia needs input on such matters:) ), but I really feel M'sia could do a better job if given the chance!

If one were to label it as Anime Festival 'Asia', then it should match the scale of the title. This is Anime Festival 'Singapore' at best.

QUOTE(wolfx @ Nov 24 2008, 04:37 AM)
If you're trying to say japanese ppl are only allowed to sign on whiteboards....then i direct you to Ichirou Mizuki who signed everybody's anything. WTF amirite? This "Japanese standard of autographs" is bullshit and is just an illusion by emo and depressed fans.

Anyway 4:33am....just arrived back in KL from SG. Flying at 140kmh on the highway. Feel damn tired but it was worth it.

Highlights for today for me:
- Singapore grand toy hunting tour brought by friend from 8am - 3pm
- Free Diamond Pass given to me by a good samaritan....omg....God bless him.
- May'N concert was awesome. Full of energy and emotion. Much better than I expected. Definately better than Hirano. laugh.gif (I think i saw her pantsu when she did her kicks) Kind of disappointed that there was no encore. sad.gif
- Setsuna becoming emo and breaking down into tears when May'N sung Diamond Crevasse. I think Quazecotl was crying too. rolleyes.gif
- Epic fail signature session. Manager gave out white cardboards...something like what you find under birthday cakes signed by May'N. Some comrades (i think mostly Malaysians) attempted to be AN HERO and tried to get May'N to sign something else (CDs, artbooks, etc) but her yakuza manager forbid it.

Generally i don't feel too bad cuz my Diamond VIP pass was not paid by me.....but i feel really bad for the ppl who paid SGD 118 and got a white cardboard.  doh.gif

at least get my nick correctly for once doh.gif
the reply i made in TFM Chat:
QUOTE
har? i didnt la
Quazacolt: setsuna ada
Quazacolt: sichiri/ejump also beside me, if i cried they would've spotted instantly
Quazacolt: setsuna did though. but its understandable. diamond crevasse was just... beautiful ><
Quazacolt: i was "slightly" teared, if anything
Quazacolt: as for the card, i really didnt expect ANYTHING.
Quazacolt: i give the card. my purpose is done.
she wants to throw it, burn it. i really could care less (though i doubt she would be doing it. more like that asshat "yakuza manager" work)

edited the chat quote to remove unneeded spams tongue.gif
it is a spambox afterall lol

and yeah, i do sweat an awful lot. especially when i was almost non stop moving/jumping/waving and all tongue.gif

What to expect? She only has a handful of songs in her portfolio. If I'm not mistaken, minus Lion (which she needs Nakajima-san to sing with her for proper justice), she sang ALL her Macross songs.

Side tracking, about the event itself... for those who went, don't ye feel that M'sia could (or maybe already done it in the past) organize a better fest than this? I mean, if not for Aniki and May'n, I would rate this fest as GIGA EPIC FAIL!!! Remember when the MC asked the question about how's the fest after the May'n concert? I could've sworn I heard crickets from outside the convention center...

Lets hear comments

imho.. there no need to have war of words over such things..more important is enjoy the performance.. May'n may not come to SEA area in the next few years although during her performance she mention to see us next year but it still a big doubt on it.. about the guy that kowtow-ing.. i actually admired him for his actions.. coz i know i wont do that for sure.. he done that n get what he want.. so just leave the case rest n move on.. n hope May'n will come back again...

Can anyone please tell me what "deculture" means?

The event I can say is semi-epic.

Sucess part:
Aniki's concert
Aniki sing 3 songs to live up the mood
May'N concert
Arcade showdown

Failure part:
They did not let us in on 9.45 am just because of some VIP people had not arrive
Last group for cosplay for Final Fantasy
The autograph session

He called disappointed fans spoilt brats. He obviously is himself a brat since he doesn't know the value of SGD 118.l

QUOTE
*Latest at 145pm, I received a call from the Director of AFA08, Mr Shawn Chin and I first wanna say I’m very gratefull for the call. Thanks for answering our concerns.

The Singapore representatives for AFA08 say they tried everything possible for CD autographs and Personal photos with May’N. They even proposed polaroid or official photos to be printed but the May’N’s management wanted to maintain that May’N have a rare image in terms of personal photographs as part of their marketing campain for her.

That’s why they didn’t allow personal photographs. As for the cardboard autographs, as mentioned earlier those are valuable because in Japan it’s the culture. So take heart if you feel that you have been short changed. May’N’s Singapore representatives what you to know that she gave those personal autographs with every intention to give you the same value as you would get in Japan.

To end off, I’d like to say that AFA08 was indeed a success but there are misunderstandings due to cultural differences. I guess it’s a lesson for anime fans here and over there to learn, as well as a lesson for Singaporeans and Japanese to learn for a bigger and better AFA09.”

Late explanation is late. they should have at least told us so earlier so there wouldn't be so much rage.
