QUOTE(theanswer @ Oct 5 2008, 07:56 PM) I think he meant VVT la. There's tons of acronyms in the auto market now and it's not weird to see someone get confused. In the end, VVTi, VTEC, VVT, DVVT, CVTC, CPS, VarioCam Plus, VANOS and etc does the same function. |

dude...these are two different cars.....from two different categories....
u need to ask yourself what u need.... are u doing a lot of outstation travel with a few adults in your car..... if so....u need a sedan with a boot. are u primarily a town driver....where small and compact will give you more advantages in navigating tight streets and crampy parking.. it all depends on what u want your car for... |

Although the swift is underpowered but check today's CBT on NST and there an upgrade frm australia to change the pistons, upgarding frm 1.5 to 1.9 cc engine with 180 HP. But cost a whopping 12K.
Nevertheless the swift is a good city car. |

good handling has less understeer and oversteer plus good maneuverability. but hey, m sure persona has no problem with that, its equips with 'Lotus handling' isnt it. swift definately cant beat persona's handling......yeah....rite..............................

Swift of course..........why even compare these 2 cars? One is a freakin ugly hatchback while the other one is Gen.2 sedan that doesnt "smoke". I prefer power.....thats too bad.
I drive a Persona (BL, not SE) and Im starting to like it, can bring ppl yumcha sometimes. Why not compare the Swift to the VW Golf (or sum power-mongered GT-R) instead? Both are ugly anyway |

Sport edition almost 100k edy... Anyway, putting that aside, i'll take the pesona whatever/SE anyday... |

Swift is one hell of ugly car - the added boot make it looks way uglier..try the swift saloon.
![]() typical trait of ugly car when added photoshopped boot - like the myvi.. ![]() while proton base designed savvy look so much better...can't go wrong with proton these days. ![]() Go for persona - cheaper spare parts cos of more local contents. I would buy the NGV model persona ..wait for the release - my top choice - got place to put more stuffs and tank. Boycott nippon products n screw the japs - I would even go for china stuffs if given the 2 choice. u know what... i think it goes a really long way in proving how much a person knows about cars when they start to compare 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT category of cars ...
SWIFT is a COMPACT PERSONA is a SEDAN the engine capacity is slightly different the boot space is ALOT different the price is also ALOT different ... OTR price is 20k higher heck, even Proton and Suzuki are marketing these model for DIFFERENT markets/customers... so why are you comparing ? like so many previous posts have said ... you ougtha know what YOU want in a car ... city driving / kai kai / makan angin / cruising arnd uni campus + alot of money ... get the Swift / MyVI / Jazz / March ... with family / travelling / balik kampung / go to work n come back + don't want to spend RM70k for something that's gonna cost RM45k in 2 years ... get the Persona / Vios / City / Accent ... IMHO, get your car facts straight then compare between the correct models for the car that you need ... for those who wanna 'smoke' other cars ... go buy a cigarette holder and stick at the bonnet... |

QUOTE(JonSpark @ Oct 7 2008, 11:13 PM) C'mon....they just wanna komper.....let them. Hey why not compare the Swift to a F430? That'll be sweet!!! LOL ! Btw im having the same dilemma too, i guess people compare both cars because the closest jap car to a persona is a swift. In terms of price that is. Rather than pay 600+ for Persona, some are willing to top up 100 or 200 for a Swift. That is why the comparison exists, I guess. |

NO MORE SMOKING BUSINESS!!! Persona is just a better car for that price. Swift? Its over priced!! Whatsmore its not fully imported.. so why do that? In the long term you will need to balik kampung and maybe take a road trip, then you will need a boot space. think about it....

the comparison is btw suzuki swift (standard model mind you !) and a persona SE (SE model mind you)....
i guess then, the mentality says ok ! but to base on reality and hard facts = its no way comparable...diff class, diff segment, diff engines! just like what most people says here... |

ts, how much money u hav? ur salary? tell u frankly, if u r juz so so got around 3k per month salary n still got more to think rather than paying a car, buy the one tht is cheaper n more benefits for u...
swift is indeed a good car, n i admit it eventho i drive a persona.. but im not the person who looks for gaya, but duit xda.. i rather spend my money paying sumthing else which benefits me in the long term.. a car is an expensive necessity, so think twice b4 making a right decision.. but if ur family wanna buy u a car, for wat looking at these two? find something more expensive la every car is nice, if u know how to take care of ur car... if u lenjan it everyday, better buy something more quality... |

I tested both cars before and both are are sufficient enough for daily driving. Well it all depends on whether u want a boot or not and if u r carrying more ppl or just a car for urself or 2 ppl. With that answered then ur choice will be very obvious.

FC Swift much better than persona. small car mah..... |

more heavy means more stable in hi speed... if persona is not under proton, i dun think ppl will disagree in owning persona... |

ls_ngu,
feel free to disagree. Check out suzuki swift thread. according to forummer the FC is almost the same with persona. on power wise, there is acceleration and top speed. Maybe swift auto is faster by 2 or 1 second but top speed wise, campro rules. torque wise, swift is much better. low rpm, swift rules, medium to high rpm, campro rules. wanna get more juice, go for manual. Auto scuk considerable amount of hp. plus you get better control of your car power with manual gb. If you are petrol head, auto is a big no-no. Except for auto DSG of course. |

u get what u paid, persona is using the same design as gen2, so in RnD cost, it already saved alot lor.
swift is selling design, and quality also. so u juz pick what u like lor. as long as u do not need large luggage area, and u have slightly higher budget then better get swift. but persona is a good buy also. |

space and mid range / high end torque for persona iafm.
agility and slightly lower fc / more responsive low end torque for swift. at the end of the day, it's very much depend on individual taste and which car suit our driving style. some drivers drive like.... ' biar sampai cepat tapi selamat' and some others drive it like ' biar sampai lambat jangan tak sampai langsung' TS, go test drive and feel for yourself. nothing beat the hands on experience. how others look at us doesn't really matter! as long as we're comfortable with the way we are..... so be it! |

Persona dont have CPS, nice highway cruiser but worst off in FC. Swift drive by wire kinda sucky, there is kinda delay accerating from 0. Power delivery not that smooth but handle wells.
If i were you, look at the Gen 2 CPS or the Waja CPS. Both of em is worth more than the swift or persona. |

i test drive the swift today, power delivery not bad, but there were instances when the oomph was not there. handling wise, its awesome, the engine needs more power though.
