if you just want to replace the case, i got one the other day when i was in ipoh. the shop is official Cobra distributor too (or so he claims)... got the case for RM25. got the printed cobra logo instead - so i just mix & match with honda logo one.

i dunno if it's expensive or not.. but after that i looked around asking for the same thing - all said between RM60 - RM80. ipoh near the tesco / jusco area. same row with tyre store with Michelin banner, middle lot. i might return, to get another one to keep for spare - but maybe next month.

rm25 is a good price. where exactly in ipoh?
*
i got it not more than a month ago. still have the receipt.

Yong Tuck Acc Centre, 54 lebuh medan ipoh, bdr baru medan ipoh.
directions: from exit Ipoh Selatan, head towards JPJ (near Jusco). head for Tesco (NOT the old Makro-turned-to-Tesco). go straight pass the Tesco entrance, you'll see a tyre shop with Michelin signboard on ur left, Pusat Tayar BH. the shop is in the middle lot - same row with the tyre shop. look for Yong Tuck accessories on your left after you pass the tyre shop.. i think the shop signboard has 'Pioneer' or 'Kenwood' logo.. can't remember.

i believe they're made of silicones... over the time it will tear and it's hard to press the button. can get for you if you can wait. i have to go back to ipoh early next month.

this thread is really shy, eh?

a quick question, if i use fully synthetic oil, can the service interval be extended too? from 5000km to 10000km? some say cannot, but they never say why.

^ i have no explanation, but sharing the same experience - at least that's what i think... i wouldn't call it a jerk - it's like choking.

only happen to me when i cruise slowly... between 50-60km/h. happen to me sometimes laa.. when it do, i cannot maintain the same speed.. have to tekan the pedal a bit - then the choke goes away.

again.. i'm not an expert (just throwing thoughts around) - happened to my previous cars, the culprit were the fuel filter. mechanics say sometimes the fuel filter gets blocked, and the fuel could not reach engine as much as you want them to.

worked for my previous cars - 1 carburetor, and the other is injection engine type. changed the fuel filter, then the chokes were gone - never came back. dunno if this also applies to cvt. i don't even know if it's just a myth concocted by the mechanics i visited - in my previous life (new life with City! tongue.gif )

any comments from experts here?

if i remember it right, the fuel filter change is included in the major service at SC. my odometer is at 117,000km - i'm still sending my 'baby' to SC btw. will send her again for major service.

julnoel, if use 7 speed mode constantly; you'll use more fuel. i only use that to smoke dugongs & myvis. tongue.gif

1st page of this thread says the S mode on the shifter is for Sporty drive, is that true?... i thot that's for climbing hills.. haha. then, is it ok to only use that S mode, instead of D mode?

i wonder what NHC stands for? if it's New Honda City... what if there's a new model? LHC? Latest Honda City?

Service centre guy called back, apparently its the gearbox.

But I refuse to believe, somehow ):

Cos the usual symptoms of gearbox failure did not happen! The D light did not flash, the car does not vibrate/jerk, the car can still pecut, RPM does not fluctatue like crazy

Can anyone help pls.
*
i'm sorry, i'm not knowledgeable on the matter. i hope it's not your gearbox... my 3 yr old car sometimes give me the jerk/choke feeling. maybe it's my way of driving it? whenever i want to gain a sudden high acceleration, i'd rev a bit - very shortly - then put my foot down straight. err... gradual at first, then when i feel pickup - i just floor it. is this the right way?

anyone can share your location and time to test your speed, without worrying the risk of getting a speeding ticket?

the other day, i was tailgated by this waja on Elite. i was on the fast lane, only doing a 100kmh then. the speed limit is onyl 90kmh. i was approaching another slower car on the same lane. i moved aside, overtook the slower car then just floor it. the waja was slowed by the slower car - but he also overtook the car using the middle lane and chased me. i think i made to 140kmh, and the poor waja was left way behind. i was thinking that maybe can play a bit, so i moved aside, slowed down and waited for him to overtake me.

he was approaching me, and i was ready to play along. but when he passed me, that's when i notice the logo on his door! PDRM la wei! shocking.gif LOL terus tak jadik! as he sped away, i just maintained at the fast lane at 100kmh. i was laughing to myself.. but later i thought to myself... can he make a report on me and give me a ticket? no, right? no evidence...

I went there yesterday. I have a friend, who's an official member. But she was down with a fever, so I went there alone. Cool gang. Everybody is friendly. Got lots of benefits... so I registered myself. cool2.gif

I also bought D'carbo from a member. RM38 per bottle - I bought 2. Outside price is RM50 (or so they say...) Its function is to get rid of carbon buildups in the engine. As of today, I don't feel the jerks... (not yet?) icon_rolleyes.gif

save up buy a new city. peace of mind biggrin.gif

i honestly dont know how people can buy 2nd hand cars..its very disturbing lor. unless you PERSONALLY know the seller. If not right, ull end up being paranoid most of the time, then little noise here and there also ull be very worried..etc etc. sometimes no problem also will become a problem.

if you can, get a new car ok? wink.gif

in my opinion lah smile.gif
*
hehe.. if you want to know why people buy 2nd hand cars, it's because not everyone can afford to buy new cars sweat.gif there might be other reasons too - like discontinued models, or simply personal preference.

1st thing to look for is the mileage of the car. the lower mileage, the better. then history of maintenance. if the owner sends the car to honda service center, another bonus point. inspect the body for signs of accident. also, look out for water marks on the carpet (interior), maybe the car was stuck in flood. check the transmission, engine etc. it's better if you bring along a friend who knows about the car model. know what you're getting... warranty, modifications, manual for the car, spare keys and remote (stock city comes with cobra alarm system, with immobilizer. expensive to get duplicates for key and remote)... etc

2005 - 2006 models are facelifted version from the previous model. there're two types, the vtec and idsi. i think you can also find rare ones with manual transmission. the vtec model is more powerful, while the idsi is known for it's good fuel consumption - very economic! if i'm not mistaken, vtec model have the paddle shifts on the steering (to override automatic transmission - shifting gears like manual cars do). only the higher spec idsi model have the 7-speed paddle shifting. the interior for vtec is black, while idsi is beige (hard to maintain if you're lazy like me haha!). it's better to take the car for a short spin with a friend who knows about the car model.

just my two cents. hope it helps.

The SC service guy told me that the gearbox oil should be changed every 5k ._.

But then again, I guess it depends on your driving style as well. if you're easy going and relaxed opposed to if you push really hard or somethin smile.gif
*
i think you mean the engine oil. the gearbox oil change is for every 20k. that gearbox oil change cost around RM350. if that's the case you can easily be charged RM500 plus for your regular maintenance at the SC.

btw julnoel, i found few posts on motortrader and teamcity forums - the remote spare parts u can get cheaper at cobra sc. one forumer claimed he bought only the rubber stick for 1RM/pc.. dunno if it's true. but no harm to check it out. got 1 in kepong also. http://www.cobra.com.my/iframe_dealer_contact.html

Green Cool Tints & Security Sdn Bhd (Kepong Branch)
35, Jalan Ambong, Kepong Baru,

Tel / Fax : 03 - 6250 9638

i always wonder the use of mineral oil, semi-syn and full syn oil. i read somewhere that these oil grades can extend to longer service intervals, 5k, 8k and 10k respectively. but it's the oil filter that cannot withstand more than 5k. if that's true - are there alternatives to get better oil filter to match the oil grade? any thoughts on that, guys?

i'm driving city 07 Nov VTEC. when i run above 120km/h will got sound like ratting or bbbb sound.
is that normal? why will like this? what should i do? need advise for u guys.
i send to sc for checking, they always tell me need 3days n no time this n that.
thank you.
*
maybe you can be more specific? is it like knocking sound? where exactly does the sound come from?

correct me if i'm wrong, the car comes with 3 yr or 100,000km warranty right? if it's bad, you better send your car to a trusted SC for the warranty. else u'd have to fork out your own money.

Reliability of this car should be good ..from my opinion.... Parts are expensive? Like which part?

@cikun,gear oil changing for RM350 is very very expensive. Even i flush all my gear box oil with 8 liters of CVT + workman ship is still lesser than that. sweat.gif
*
haha.. maybe i was exaggerating a lot, but the point was it cost a hole in my pocket when combined with engine oil change plus parts and labor. which brings me the question, as posted by our friend - do we to have change the gearbox oil every 5000km ?

julnoel,
i went to cobra sc in TTDI today.. got myself the remote casing for just RM20. i also bought 2 extra rubber sticks, RM1/pc. rclxm9.gif i'm so happy!

Dear raymond,

I tested the car again last week sunday. I'm not sure if the steps i taken from website to reset the ecu solve this or maybe because the style i floor in the pedal. driven over 700km in 4days still cant find the reason why only rev 3k rpm when i floor the pedal.

I try reset the ecu (not sure if its actually succeed to reset it), and tested and found it can rev easily to 4k-5k =) i floor the pedal fast instead of flooring the pedal with "normal fast" speed. oh well.. kinda not get used to drive auto yet. its my first time to own foreign car =]

Anyways, after sunday, im enjoying to drive this car even though its not vtec =)

By the ways, a seller informed me to use CVT oil for the gearbox but not ATF-Z1 oil? Now, which oil is suitable for CVT? I remember is ATF-Z1 right?

hi zenobia,
congratulations on your discovery! it's a bit weird to change from manual transmission to auto.. i know because i drive both (time to time i change with the missus). but once u get the hang of it, should be ok. don't be afraid to press the pedal harder. generally, that's how u go about the gear shifts on auto transmission cars.

could u share the link on how to reset the ECU (that u took from website as per ur post above)?

rclxms.gif 12 secs? nice timing! it's hard for mine to rev that way. i used to floor a bit after any toll, but not any more. can't afford petrol so much these days!

john,
i used to change everything at the service center, before my 100,000km. had the same bulb changed too. parts costed rm12 or rm10 (before the 15% discount), because i had to change two bulbs. the labor cost to fix it is rm30. i did it in westar auto jln ulu klang. has always been my SC. looked a bit run down, but service is satisfactory.

if i'm not mistaken, you have to remove from the handbrake/transmission panel - to open the a/c panel.

oh, the air-cond bulb is blue - not orange like the defog bulb.
