hi kaizen,
the generations could be different in other countries. with my little knowledge of the car, i'll try to summarize. i'm not sure about first generation of City though. 2G (2nd generation) is the model based on civic EF, the boxy civic model. 3G (3rd generation) is the 1st curvy model, if compared to 2G. released in 2003. front side of the car is a bit steep, if you look from the side. edited. based on honda Fit/Jazz. 3G, 4G & 4.5G are also known as Fit Aria, the sedan version of Fit. 4G (4th generation) is facelift version from 3G. released in 2005 or 2006. you can spot difference from 3G - the front side of the car (raised a bit), the front grille, and tail light. 4.5G a minor change from 4G. released in 2007 or 2008. i'm not sure what's the difference, i just noticed the honeycomb front grille and probably the color of interior - no more beige interior 5G (5th generation) is the new 2009 honda city do correct me if i'm wrong. hope it helps. a little side track...
i read some comments by Paul Tan's readers about power windows. i had the same experience with my kancil and wira. both different make, proton and perodua, have same problem - me leaving them under the hot sun, and letting dirt and grime build up the window frame. resulting the window feels heavy to wind up or down - slow response. remedy = clean the build ups, and lube the frame with silicone lubricant. imho when the car left in hot sunlight, the frame hardens - possibly will let water in - not to mention the dirt and grime. the power window motor will have to work extra hard, and eventually will give in. hence the power window failure. as a metaphor: no foreplay = no lube = no go! just my 2 cents. |

QUOTE(-PuPu^ZaPruD3r- @ Feb 4 2010, 12:19 PM) The new engine sucks, 5th gear is like overdrive for highway only... Should have stuck with CVT like Japan.. i constantly shift from D to S and back to D again. D for long drive, S for short - like in traffic jam. but i keep the rpm below 3. will that kill my iDSI gearbox even faster? assuming that the honda CVT killing is actually real. |

QUOTE(rmage @ Feb 25 2010, 10:42 AM) Hey neato, i asked a doktor cermin shop once, the chip can only be fixed only if you don't leave the chip too long. else, if dirt gets into the chip - cannot be fixed properly. How have you been? I have a chipped at the front windscreen (not sure is it kena batu or what). Anyway, I've checked with some friends and they say the safest is still to change a new windscreen. Cause scared later the screen will suddenly break.... But because it's going to cost a bomb to change it, I'm still letting it be until can find cheaper one. |

QUOTE(wwl86 @ Jun 27 2010, 01:32 PM) yeah, also... my friend bought an iDSI model back in '08. hers didn't have 7-speed and paddle shift on the steering like my '06 iDSI model. i'm not sure if vtec models also have these, but i think the paddle shift thingy is something to look for too. recommend for satria89. |

QUOTE(Redundant @ Aug 6 2010, 12:04 AM) hi guys, have you got that sorted out? mine (iDSI 06) don't have that inner-flip thingy.. and my outer cover (on body) is not round as well.i hav an old honda city 07, when i went to refuel my car today, i noticed that the flip inside the gas tank filler neck is gone... it look something like this... ![]() could the thing has fell inside the fuel tank? how do i get ppl to take out this thing? thanks! QUOTE(noprob @ Aug 11 2010, 11:49 PM) Guys City owner , can y'all share .. whats the stock tyre brand and spec , plus the stock rim profile pls .. Am thinking to replace the stock once i got my city end this month . Thanks in advance ... i think that depends on what kinda model you're talking about. if i'm not mistaken 3G (03 model) and 4G (05 model) had 15" rims, with Good Year NCT 5.. 185/55/R15 perhaps? i dunno about 4.5G though. NHC you can check full specs here. |

QUOTE(jinyee80 @ Sep 22 2010, 09:31 PM) jinyee80look near your driver's side door, on the body. normally there's some kinda sticker about tyre pressure guide with tyre size. that's your standard tyre size. i'm no expert, and i also don't remember the standard tyre, but i think it's 185/55r15. in laymen terms 185 is the width, 55 is the measurement from rim to the ground while 15 is basically your rim size. what i know, you don't simply change any size you like. there's some sorta tyre/rim calculator to get a proper upgrade to change rim size etc. else it will impact badly on your safety. also note that your speedometer was set to standard rims and tyres, once you change, the speedometer shown is off from real speed. google it up. tyre calculator -> http://www.paspeedo.com/calculator.htm QUOTE(-PuPu^ZaPruD3r- @ Sep 27 2010, 01:19 AM) hehe.. not team city thread. just friends of the City in LYN. last time i checked, the other thread on Honday City (in LYN) only discuss about NHC. others are shot down if post questions about other gens. but this thread right here, is kinda slow. |
