Found this fellow in estate,  his chomping on the cricket i gave it. Around 5 inch. Length of my palm size.

Scolopendra sp?

Ryo, didn't find ur black centi but this. If the all seeing eye Rafiq is watching any idea what is this species.
*
Nice find, couldn't id it unless u can get a clear ventral shot of its terminal leg's spine ventrally

QUOTE(HyourinMaru @ Jul 29 2009, 02:51 PM)
Icic biggrin.gif
So pedes' tank nid bigger floor space or more height?
*
As quote from 1st page
A general rule for the minimum cage size for an adult pet-scolopendrid are:
Lenght => 2 x the bodylenght of the scolopendrid.
Width => 1 x the bodylenght of the scolopendrid.
Height => 1 x the bodylenght of the scolopendrid + substrate height.
(to prevent them to reach the top of the enclosure)

QUOTE(Izzulogy @ Jul 29 2009, 02:53 PM)
well im not 100% sure though.. but from the looks of it, and frm the fact the u aught in here in malaysia.. i guess thats the sp.. need to ask rafiqos for confirmation too~ LOL

these centipedes actually really hard to ID.. bcoz only can rely on their colouration.. and their colour sumtims change (near to molt, dark morph etc..)

after looking back and further searching on the web, its kinda looks like Scolopendra subspinipes sp. fire legs!!!!  looking at those red legs infront.. sure looks like one~
*
Bold Part: Not really, we can't accurately ID a centipede base on their coloration alone, though its a basic rule we use to ID them
To get a proper ID, at least for Scolopendra sp, we have2 look at the spines at their terminal legs
Some1 correct me if im wrong

QUOTE(dizzychef @ Jul 29 2009, 03:13 PM)
The fact that many claims they are expert in artists, to me height is important(normally double their length i presume), i don't want 1 giant centipde running lose around the house.

Although considerable floor space is required and a fellow more experience guy says ventilation is important for their survival also.

Btw izzu, at least we have and idea what it might be. Thanks alot. 1 thing great i found about this centi, is a ferocious eater! My friend and i was like wau! when it chop on the cricket and you can literally hear the crushing sound of it.

Now i see finally ur showing interested in pedes tongue.gif

Driving is scary, the chances of u dying in car accident is way higher than dying from centipede bites
Now, do u still drive?

But if u dun mind wild caught then ready to spend RM60+ for one
Pets store, look for exo something sale thread...
Btw u can get them easily at aquarium shop but at the risk of them dying from dehydration
I bought around 5 of them but only one survived

U may wanna feed it killed crix or raw meat if u noticed her being very skinny
But its best not to feed for 3-4month period until the pedeling can survive by their own
Read more here, though its for scolopendra genus but i think it shld change much for rhysida genus
http://www.scolopendra.be/raising.php

Btw my attempt taking spiracle picture...
