Base on the photo that you posted your phone was not in the DFU mode but recovery mode. I am not too sure what had happen but I would do the following if I am in your shoe. You will need read this gude

Download 2G restore file
Download Winpwm 2.0.0.4
Download Boot image for 3.9 and 4.6
Downgrade your itune 8.0 to itune 7.7
The guide should be able to put your iphone back to firmware 2.01, get to here first and then we will explore how to get to FW 2.1 under Windows.
I believe your problem is to get to the DFU mode, read the guide and try option 3 in the part where it teach you how to get to DFU mode.
Hope this help, I have similar problem to yours. It is not hardware but software issue.
