I'm thinking of buying new Crucial Ballistix 1066Mhz. The problem is my mobo only supports 800Mhz. Can it overclock to 1066Mhz. Just wanna figure out b4 buying laugh.gif .

DDR2-1066 modules are overclocked DDR2-800 modules anyway. There is no native DDR2-1066.

What do you mean by that?
By spec,max is 667mhz
Highest speed DDR 2 module is Team Xtreem DDR 2 1300mhz and it is bin for 1300mhz icon_rolleyes.gif

what he meant is, under JEDEC specifications, there is no other specification higher then 800mhz 1.8v and all the rams rated above that speed are not official Jedec specs, and is overclocked lol

Yup exactly. Manufacturers then created EPP.

okay,im a bit confused, despite the different ram speed so basically does the DDR800 and DDR1066 performs same when you run em both at the same speed?hehe

A higher binned DDR module are likely to be able to run at tighter latency if clocked at lower speeds.

True, but that's when you're talking about performance. I'm answering TS's question on compatibility, whether a 1066 module can be used in a 800 motherboard.
So, I'm telling him there's no difference in compatibility as a 1066 module is basically a higher binned DDR2-800 =p

You're welcome. EPP stands for enhanced performance profiles, whereas the JEDEC solid state technology association is a body that develops industry standards.
