WoW will die in years to come due to the new game blizzard is going to release

But somehow this game still has its own uniqueness that many people love it

SOme people just cant get why maple is good(like me) and some people thinks that it is their life..goes the same with WoW

OP post can be transpose to Warhammer and still feel the same.

the problem is, in warhammer they have 30+ chat channels, so you're f***ed literally.

WoW has 8 million players and they expect it to grow with the 2nd expansion. It's hardly dying, tho it would be nice to see WAR to be competitive to give incentive to Blizzard to be continuously evolving.

11mil, half a year ago they released press conference celebrating their 10mil mark.

I'd say WoW still has a good 1-2 years left in it due to it's massive population - but yes the game is on a decline. The servers I play on(Blackrock alliance and Tichondrious horde) is not as crowded as it used to be anymore. You can see alot less people crowding around the BG/Arena battlemasters, nobobdy deos heroics/kara/ZA anymore, and even daily quest areas that used to be packed are pretty much deserted. I can go to the middle of Shattrah without taking a FPS hit. Top guilds are having trouble getting their weekly raid going and are basically canibalizing other smaller guilds in order to keep going.

Blizzard can make up whatever numbers they have, but really they can't fool anyone that has been there since day one. They may still have the subscriptions but the playtime of players in their game have taken dive - myself included. I used to average 3 hrs a day playing this game mostly doing arenas, now it's about 5 mins just to say hi to people.

it's because Wotlk is coming that's why people seldom raids anymore and more and more people raising alts / grinding for coming expansion

they dont need to make up numbers.

players may or may not be logging on, but the subscription is still ongoing be it for weekend arenas, chatting with friends, or w/e the hell said player fancies.

That aside, korea/china/europe and even US (with MLG) is having WoW esport on the rise. the prize money and sponsorship involved is the largest throughout gaming history unless you add up the many many years other games raked such as warcraft 3/starcraft (lol both still blizzard's) or counterstrike etc. etc.

and i too, am a person that played since closed beta until today non-stop, the game is no where near dying as many tend to claim. it does have a decline (frustrating arena queue times and lack of player resulting in crap rating gains) yes, but the player base is still strong and theres still new servers poping out here and there. (lets not forget theres other region's WoW)

Aiya, easy la, those who say not nice coz cannot afford ma...i played like 10++ MMORPG 2D, 3D online games, and i grad to say that WOW is the best. Its graphic capable to run as smooth as your face just in x300 ATI graphic card and when you enter the game, you'll feel yourself inside the game, the feeling is so great and fantastic~ Anyway, think deeper, one month RM60, compare with those smokers, maybe one month RM100+(Example), so it worth to play..one day RM2 nia..

well, there's two main reasons why there are no people. You did said you started your belf recently.. I might consider you have not reached 70 as yet. As BC has been out for quite a while (in fact towards the end) thus, there are not as many people leveling fresh.. as a new player.. even leveling chars are usually alts... where they double boxes and stuff like that.

secondly, yes, it depends on population and timing like dragna said. server time you are playing on and level you are playing on ..

seriously.. when you all say WoW has 9-10 million players, does that mean 9-10 million active players or 9 million people who played it (includes Beta, Trials and Subscribers)?

active subscribers, does not include beta, trials not sure but shouldnt be included as it meant subscribers.
china alone has 4-5 mil. gooo overpopulated country.

that is based on blizzard's press release, if they want to lie, then i have nothing to say.
http://www.blizzard.com/us/press/080122.html

10million milestone, since january 2008, its october now.
their on release sales also beaten every other game minus GTA's console sale records that alone should give enough credit to attribute the numbers

to quote their definition:
QUOTE
World of Warcraft's Subscriber Definition
World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees' territories are defined along the same rules.

hope the above helps smile.gif
p/s: when will there ever be a mod that actually plays WoW for LYN WoW's section? not that it really matters now honestly. but out of curiousity's sake.

Yes, that helps.

There are mods that actually played WoW though... tongue.gif I still have my WoW CE in my KL home tongue.gif

Why? Am I not being fair to all MMO players?

The idle time before next expansion makes it a good time try out new things like WAR.

But why does Order suck so much unsure.gif

lol...try playin on a weekend morning.

in the server tat i'm on, u can hardly get anything done without a group of opposin players comin to PK u...
i used to play F2P like cabal....

in the end,i like WoW better.

cos time spent = rewards gain....

thos F2P.if u hv deep pockets,u can go n buy the items to enhance ur char greatly.
but for WoW.u need to grind for the stuffs, which is wat i like....

normally,on weekdays nite,i spend abt 1-2 hrs...weekends longer

nope, just that most, if not all mods moderating the WoW section barely even know anything about WoW, if none ever. Be it WoW slang/terms etc. Heck, even the "casual" flaming is everyday's business even on the official forums so long things dont get out of hand, too vulgar, or just pointless spams.

needless to say it gets frustrating and after a while, its to the point that one would just stop caring about it altogether.

and most of said players would just flock back once wotlk hit. mainly just trying out the game and what not during the burn out/wow idle time.

WAR is only at around 500k subscriber atm. even age of conan beaten it by a few hundred k during release (which is kinda sad how much hype that shit generated)

The number of servers they have will dictate that life will never die for WoW.

For an entire year, I have been preaching to people NOT to start or try WoW. Here I am now, all excited about WotLK and my hands are itchy again.

But I have to say that WoW IS quite repetitive in terms of gameplay, the amount of time commitment needed to achieve anything. Be it a drop from heroics or a raid, i can run a heroic 20+ times before I get what I freaking want (Thats luck). How about collecting points for an Arena piece.. But even though we know its repetitive and tiring to repeat the same sh*t over and over again, we still do it.

Why, why do we do it. I suspect the developers of WoW have encoded some kinda hallucinating graphical phenomena that keeps us addicted. Players quit, players come back. Players REALLY quit..... and then they come back again. Seriously, after 1 whole full year of WoW negligence. I find myself totally obssesed with WoW updates and forums again, and I will play WoW again come November 13th.

So yea, what is the conclusion. Is WoW dying out? All games die out. But I hear and see alot of people "quitting" and returning to WoW, much like cigarettes, and I am one of them. WoW is a drug. Someone save me.
