fag, the network problem still persists. I'm pretty sure my apn is setup correctly. But i'm also pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with APN coz the phone can receive signal fine w/o APN. It's just that these 2 days have problem with signal. My 7-year-old 64K sim card is workable on my old phone but not on my G1. Doesn't make sense at all if it's too old or spoilt.

Yo grazy, prolly i'll just wait for another few days. If the problem still persists, I might considering getting a new sim card. Meanwhile, I saw the news of new cupcake update. With my G1, an unlocked set, is it possible for me to update via the system update of the phone itself? or I should get other versions of cupcake?

Guys, my droid still can't connect to DIGI. I asked my colleagues and all of them have no problem accessing to DIGI. What the hell is going on? One of them said the phone may suddenly feel very sophisticated n start to reject 64K sim card...that doesn't make any sense.... Added on May 4, 2009, 6:08 pmLatest trial & error, I used my colleague's 6-year-old Maxis Sim Card. Even worse, my droid doesnt even recognize the sim card... Kernel version 2.6.25-01843-gfea26b0 jesusfreke@AndroidDev #1. Build number holiday_devphone-userdebug 1.1 UNLOCKED 130444 test-keys. What does it mean? I dont want to proceed w/o knowing anything & then screw up at the end Added on May 16, 2009, 7:22 pmfor crying out loud, there's so many things to install just to update the firmware. Can anyone help me to install? This post has been edited by schrodinger_cat: May 16 2009, 07:22 PM

Hey guys, I just got 1.5 update via over-the-air update. The update was swift, very suspicious. Anyhoo, witnessed by grazy, my phone is now 1.5 & have those on screen keyboard.
However, the signal strength got worse or virtually no signal at all. Before updating, the signal still can be received at certain places. But no, as if all digi towers in klang valley have been bulldozed, i can't get any signal at all. A little consolation is that i still can receive wifi signal for good.
Any idea how to solve this problem? I already upgraded to 128K sim card though. I'm thinking of manually updating the OTA cupcake again.

OK guys, I really need everyone's help here.
I don't know what happen to the phone at the beginning of May. The signal strength got so deteriorated until my phone couldn't receive any signal indoor. It still could catch digi signal outdoor. If traced back few pages back, i posted the same problem. I thought it was Digi's problem but it couldn't be so bad until the problem lasted for almost a month.
Until 2 days ago, when i was wifing in PJ, an OTA update suddenly pop up. Out of curiousity, i chose Yes & it updated itself. It "completed" like in 5 minutes. Strange. But my phone version was updated to 1.5. Got onboard keyboard.
Worse nightmare came. NO SIGNAL AT ALL. The phone still could detect wifi but it just cant receive any GSM signal! What good is a smart phone if it can't receive signal??? I bought a Maxis simpack & tried out, result was the same. Error in detecting network. Great, I have a new maxis number for nothing!
I'm getting so frustrated & feel like selling this crap off. But who would buy it if it can't call nor message? I remember last month the phone working great but it just suddenly got nuts. I swear it never fell on floor before. So it couldn't be mechanical problem. Also, it still can detect wifi, so why not GSM?
