well u see, microsoft is retiring windows xp
so why dun u bear with it first, continue with windows vista since microsoft will come up with new updates to solve the problems that vista is having now
now another advantage is that, the world is moving on... sooner or later, all s/w or games will need vista platform to work perfectly on..
so there is no point using windows xp and in the end, u`ll have to switch to vista again next time

just my opinion smile.gif

Better goes for Vista, as kidforever stated. Sooner or later, Vista will be use largely, and XP will become a minority only.

I believe Vista will has a very short life like Win2K (hear about it?).

Win2k is in the market for 1-2 years.
It it around during the transaction from Win98 to Win NT (Win XP).

TS, if your computer is consisting of new hardwares, use Windows Vista. It's stable enough with release of Service Pack 1. What's more, the next Windows (Vienna, Windows 7 or whatever teh geek calling it), will be based on Windows Vista for the hardware configuration. If you got lesser hardware specification, then get Windows XP will suffice for now. But as others saying, Windows XP has been retired, and sooner or later, you'll still upgrading to newer Windows, Vista or newer one...

One advice though, try Windows Vista. Don't listen to others that says Vista sucks etc. You'll never know until you've tried.

I dunno what's everyones deal with Vista is...I've been using vista for quite some time now and rarely encounter problems. Most of the time its fixed by the updates released by Microsoft themselves.

Changed from XP to Vista and never looked back since, really enjoyed it. Vista is recommended wink.gif

Dude, most people probably didn't know about Windows 2000 because it's not an OS for consumer, but for large corporations hosting servers, mail servers etc. Windows XP was released due to the highly instability of Windows 98 and Windows Me (worser) and was built on Windows 2000 kernel. Windows 2000 has been around for at least 2 and 1/2 years before Windows 2003 take over.

Go for Vista is not shit as u think. Auto defrag when pc idle, better ram management, got nice looking, DirectX 10, easy to configure, more secure than xp, sidebar, keyboard key application access, can make shutdown shortcut on your desktop, no driver difficulty, can use plug and play most printer scanner without additional driver, automatic recover for startup fail and many more (too many).

Does xp have?

Strange, why so many ppl says Vista is unstable? I've been using original Vista ultimate x64 and every program I've installed works just fine.

XP has retired. It's time to move on to Vista dude!! I like XP but I love Vista.
