so sad to hear the stories...

Hi everyone, I'm ann3..i actually just recently got my stuart and mischka suprisingly from 'carrefour'..yes i know it sounds peculiar...but then i again..i wasn't intended to have them since i was planning to have fish instead....

but then when i hold stuart..even though he poop on my hands :-s.. i kinda 'bond'...just like with my pet cat boyboy...mischka was a bit fierce, since she was eating at the time the seller took her....so she was like shreeking a bit...very active during the night...she likes to disturb stuart while he's trying to sleep...

i wonder whether my stuart and mischka is a syrian since they both don't look like a syrian based on the pictures in the thread...their coats are like squirell.. a bit worried since i house both of them together...could you guys help me?

don't have at the moment..to nite lor can get..erm, better picture...thanks ya...i hope i'm not too late cry.gif

by the way..can you suggest best pratice to move you hamster around..like how to handle them in the car?...how do i do to reduce their stress level? is it ok if i put them and their home in a big paper bag when transporting them? so that they couldn't see? or just hold the home on my lap? it helps since i don't like to leave my hammies at home if i have to go out station...my parents are scared with my hammies...

ic ic ..currently i'm housing them in a steel cage instead of fish tank one...it's ok if i put a piece of clean towel since i sleep with lights on, and don't want them to be disturb with bright light...

sorry for asking so many question, i am pretty new at this and quite concern bout both of them, not just because their cute but i guess i always have heart for animals...so i would love to be responsible owner....

is it necessary to toilet train them? i have bought the bathing sand and stuart just love to roll in them...i found in some of the post here that syrian do not roll in the sand....will update their pictures tonite...hope will identify whether they're syrian or not...

on the other hand i found mischka to sleep and eat a lot..she only plays around 7pm to midnight and early morning around 6am to 8am...is this a normal behaviour?

how show i properly introduce with fresh foods/smoothies..which fresh vege/fruit should i start first?

if let say hammies falls sick (touch wood)...which clinic is best to attend to such matter?any recommendations?

i really appreciate your guidance...this thread does help me a lot to understand my hammies..

p/s : i found stuarts loves when he out of the cages...he like to venture a lot!! mischka on the other hand is a bit shy i guess...

last time, i just bring in the cage together..i put in paper bag first, since i'm afraid they will stressed out while walking...when got in car...i brough them out and hold them on my lap coz scared jatuh2 inside car.... stuart seem pretty occupied on the wheels during this time while mischka just sleep or eat...i find that stuart tend to slide a lot since i have a slider in the cage.. this does distract my fiance while he drives..kinda fun to watch biggrin.gif

oh yea, im also very impressed that you can hold them on your lap without them nipping you considering u got them from carrefour

actually they're inside their cage one..i bought one that have a wheel, bottle, feeding pot and a house with slider..but to my suprise, stuart is a bit tame....when open the cage, he will move to my hand without waiting long...mischka needs waiting though....

stuart enjoys the bathing sand...i just dunno why...he loves rolling like a cat..should i worry?

thank you very much on all of your advises biggrin.gif

will check for a new tank/cage....get the pictures soon so that you guys could help identify whether they are syrian or not..geez...misz them already ....

QUOTE
Syrians do not use bathing sand, they'll groom themselves with saliva.

when i purchase stuart and mischka, they have the bathing sand in their tank..the seller recommended me to purchase the sand rather than shampoo for to clean them....i will post their pics tonite to reconfirm whtether they are syrian or not....

my stuart and mischka is small consider small since i can fit both in one palm...they have coat like squirell with a line in their back though stuart is less obvious since he's a bit greyish and the code is lighter than mischka...

IcedNyior : yup..something like that...stuart is greyish..while mischka is brownish..stuarts line is not that obvious rather mischka's is more prominent..

Andy0625 : it's not that i do not appreciate..it's just that i'm concern how should i take care of them..i don't really mind they're type..since i love them so very much...i just wanna take good care of them lor...besides..how can i be not grateful for those cute faces...misz my stuart and mischka already....

p/s: love to watch stuart after he's tired running..he will lay down like really tired..and don't move..scared me at first since i thought he was sick..but then after few days..understand d since his quite and active chap..he'll climb the cage to his tree house..the slide down with the slider that supposely i guess for him to climb up to his tree house...and to the wheel and repeat until his so tired... so cute...love him so much... wub.gif

love when mischka bugs stuart when he's asleep..she just all over him... wub.gif

how do i determine the age of my hammies?

thanks andy for the prompt reponse..now i will try m best to take care them...biggrin.gif...now the stuart and mischka is sleeping...they're angry at me because didn't put enough kuaci..i was trying to teach them to finish everything so they do not waste their foods..instead they think i don't love them...stuart bit me during the whole time i was trying to take his pictures...sigh sigh..

so right now..i need to separate them right?...since i have no intention to breed them...what is their maturity age?size?
is there anything else that i need to know on how to take proper care for winter white?

care not to give too much kuaci though.. 4-6 kuaci a day is enough.. hamsters usually eat their fav foods first, so u can just leave the food as it is until they finished eating..

nod.gif i wasn't really pay attention to what i put as it is a mix dry food which contins barley,seeds,pallets...so when pouring to the bowl didn't count as long as the bowl is full...

QUOTE
stuart bit u most probably cos he's not tamed yet & not used to u.. give him time, play with him often, and he'll like u better smile.gif
if can, give him some treats (not too much) during play time, then they'll enjoy the times u take them out to play..

i guess so, but his all ok previously when i put my hand on the cage door...usually i just let him pusing2 between my two hands...praises him a lot...maybe today he's angry coz usually when his hungry, he bit....

btw, i notice that stuart has the habit of chewing the cage metal..after eating kuaci, he gets all hype..he'll run around, digging around nd play t the wheeler...then, he will panjat the cage at bit the steel...i'm a bit worried scared toxicated with the steel coat...what should i do? i also notice then when he done playing, he'll sleep straight away...most of he time on his back terkangkang some more like dead..scares me a lot since he is hyper...is this ok?

QUOTE
what treat your hammy love best? if I use kuaci, outside of the cage, she will grab den terus hide in her cheek >< but sometimes she dont care the food i give her also sad.gif But if in her cage i give anything she come and grab. Love fresh food too, smell from far come dy.. LOL

both of stuart and mischka if hungry don't hide the kuaci..they'll eat them straight away..very rakus one!! laugh.gif ... i haven't started on fresh food yet..i'm planning to get them bigger place which means another two more, the current one is a bit small, can use this as a carrier....but now raya eaten up my pocket..hihihihi..anyone can give cheap price??hihihihihi

another thing..i notice that both of them sometimes kinda sleep in the bathing sand...the poo there, pee also there...even eat there also...i have to change the bathing sand at least after two days...since kinda worried with unhealthy stuff (pee and poo) in there...what should i do?

sorry ya guys, i ask so many questions...i'm a newbie and very excited to have both mischka and stuart.. rclxm9.gif

Remember to look for Breeder Celect by yourself, do not tell the seller you looking for hamster's bedding, or else they'll only show you wood shavings. Tell them you want something for cat to pee and poo called Breeder Celect and look out for the green colored packing.

Do you have a picture? I would like to find for my stuart and mischka..

wargh..so many cute pictures of muffin and oreo...got some problem over the weekend with my modem...

i have move the babies (my mom called them) to a new setup...as after raya no money, so i try to be a bit creative..i used one of my mom's big multipurpose container (clean and disinfected with dettol)...made some holes on the lid (which i didn't close it tightly)... got them a larger wheel...and move some of the stuff from the cage...

they seems to be very happy running around..and trying their best to climb up...hihihihihihi..so cute!....anyway, i have manage to introduce stuart and mischka with vege...i started of with carrot since it's a bit sweet (i guess..)... and the response was good...both of them seems to enjoy it...

would try to get them some other vege... biggrin.gif
