i think clumping means it sticks together and becomes hard, not like sand one. but it sticks together to a clay-like consistency. NOt sure...hv to ask ppl who have cats (and clumping cat litter)

Added on October 2, 2008, 2:28 amoh btw, its not advisable to use beach sand because we duno what kind of germs are inside.

if u still want, maybe u can bake it to kill the germs first? not really sure

Wait , then why some of them say that the cat litter is for toilet? unsure.gif
*
that one is the cat toilet sand (non-clumping) that they also use for hamster toilet sand. If im not mistaken the brand is frisian. Again, make sure u get the non clumping ones.

we use the Breeders Celect (Select) cat litter for the bedding. its in bigger chunks, like rabbit food pellets, but its not food la. its compressed recycled paper.

btw guys, pls double check ur BC when you pour it into the cage, I've found bits of foil and plastic inside, so do sift it carefully

hye ppl, i gonna ask a very very very noob question. and some might flame me for not reading the forum. but i cant just scroll page by page(actually i did).
i really really like hamster and i would like to rare one. but parents wouldnt allow me to because they say hamster is smelly? is it true? =( or they are just giving me excuses so that i wouldnt be able to rare one.
*
if you clean it alot, then it wont be smelly. Depends on what kind of bedding u use also. whether it absorbs the smells well or not. If u malas then it'll stink

tortoy: i think ur signature size is a bit over the forum limits la.

omgg.. how to toilet train em?
anyway i bought 2 hamsters already! but its not for me. buying for my friend as her birthday present. =(
anyway im told they are winter winter!
*
u mean winter white?
One way to toilet train is to collect all the taik2 and put inside a bowl with the toilet sand. if it pees in the wheel, wipe the wheel with tissue and put it into the bowl as well

I have an annoying ant problem now. The tank now has some ants scuttering around and I just cleaned it!

No preteige. No smoothie. Removed thes moothie and I still see them around. ARGH

And thus I shall pout like my hamster

She's been bititng the wodent wheel also. refuses to bite the other toys.

*
apply vaseline at the top of the tank.

my ww likes to bite the wodent wheel also previously. now it uses the silent wheel and so far i hvnt noticed any bites

aiyak..yesterday i brought them to office.....got stuart picture..not so clear..will update soon...today didn't bring.....searching cable..one moment..

don't have at the moment..to nite lor can get..erm, better picture...thanks ya...i hope i'm not too late  cry.gif

by the way..can you suggest best pratice to move you hamster around..like how to handle them in the car?...how do i do to reduce their stress level? is it ok if i put them and their home in a big paper bag when transporting them? so that they couldn't see? or just hold the home on my lap? it helps since i don't like to leave my hammies at home if i have to go out station...my parents are scared with my hammies...

p/s : i found stuarts loves when he out of the cages...he like to venture a lot!! mischka on the other hand is a bit shy i guess...

*
hello there ann wave.gif welcome to the thread. Even if they aren't hamsters, you have to seperate them because you bought different sex hamsters and they will mate non stop. About what fresh foods to feed, the first few posts has a list of vege/fruits that are appropriate. since stuart loves to venture around, u might want to get a wheel and let him explore the whole place without u hving to worry he'll get lost or squeeze himself somewhere.

oh yea, im also very impressed that you can hold them on your lap without them nipping you considering u got them from carrefour

it clumps because of some chemicals which react with water and make it clump. so might be poisonous if they eat it.

My Muffin get used to sunflowerseed , should I take out sunflowerseed when I feed him ? He doesnt eat other mixture but only sunflowerseed.  sad.gif
*
take out the sunflower seeds. He/she (i forgot what sex your hamster is) will be forced to eat the other foods. then later slowly put in the sunflower seeds bit by bit. Thats what I did for my Kiki. The petstore only gave it to eat kuaci. When i fed it harry hamster, it didnt eat anything else.
