@Aeon: Don't change the bedding lor. I usually wait until their eyes open and they can run around to do it. I wouldn't wanna cause the mum to have unnecessary distress. This is why, when anticipating the delivery, I change the bedding a little close to it.  In the mean time, just be patient lor.

Oh, that wan no need to worry too much. In the wild, babies actually ingest some of mum's poo to get back some digestive bacteria that helps them break down food in their stomach.

Will your mama ham be stressed if you remove stuff from her cage? If not then should be ok lor but not so recommended. I will prefer to wait till they're about 2 weeks old.

thats why u hav to giv extra care for mummy hamster. provide her more protein~

Added on November 16, 2008, 10:31 amsudden death is easy to occur for hammy.. my fren's ww was doin great, chubby nice coat... but then suddenli it just died.. there is no injuries at all.. i duno why...

wanna ask u all, my robo mummy jus gave birth.. so i separated the daddy out..
when is it the time to put back the daddy to reunion wif his family?

huh... then the male robo will be so bored... cos now he's alone at another cage. will he bored until dead?

Err... Just to let you know. Hamsters, any type of hamsters, should never be given a bath. They don't bath in the wild. And bathing is super super stressful so we don't give baths unless absolutely necessary like an emergency.

sigh. That's the thing. They call it "small animal shampoo" then stick a picture of a syrian on the front. It really misleads people. but as responsible owners, we should find out what can and cannot be done to our hamsters right... Anyone who researched will know. Bathing is a big no no.

regarding your grass, i haven't tried before but am interested. How about you try first and let us know how it goes?

Can't remember the list of veges that Nezu gave out for the fresh veges. You look for it and follow the list if can.

those are wheat grass, if u like u can get some seed n nuts to make ur own sprout for them very good in nutritions.

Just want to share something...

I went to Pet Safari at Ikano 2 months ago. U know that corner that sell hamsters in Pet Safari? That Corner does not owned by Pet Safari..
Anyway, when i was there, i was to buy beddings and check out the cute hamsters. Then i saw ONE particular hammie isn't moving. So i stood there and observe.
After few minutes, I realized that hammie is actually dead. And no one knows cos too many hamsters in a tank.

So i walked to the shopkeeper (assuming is the son in his college age), i told him one of the hamsters is dead. So he took newspaper and picked it up.
I continue looking at them. Cos they're not given enough food. After a few seconds, i found something. I hesitated and doubt. Could it be? Could it be not? I saw something flat like a hard paper. I look closer.

OMG!! OMG!!!    Another dead hamster! But this one, died longer cos it's FLAT already. I ran to that guy and told him another dead one. Flat and left back the kulit. U know what? The idiot and his mother laughed, "More dead hamsters? What? Left back skin? Hahaha..." I got so angry     . How can you laughed like that. I feel like slapping him.

So he picked it up. Meanwhile, i check other tanks to see if there are more dead hamsters. True enough, we found another TWO. So in total, there are FOUR dead hamsters in the tanks and no one notice. How cruel!!! I love hamsters and i had many hamsters before. Looking at how they treat the hamsters, i feel like buying all of them and bring them home.    

Then, we walked into the corner. Mom was checking out the iguanas. Then she told me she saw one interesting iguana that look like got lipstick on. Red lips. I was curious and looked at it. OMG!!! OMG!!!    All iguanas in the shop are injured. They are not wearing lipsticks. Their lips were injured. No more lips. Can see teeth. And bleeding. Can see blood on the tank's wall. I felt so disappointed and disgusted by the shop owner and i walk off.

After that incident, I sort of like banned going to that corner. I still visit Pet safari to buy dog food. But i avoid walk pass there and look at the hamsters. I dunno how i can help those animals. Sigh....

I wonder....

If it is possible for owners to vapourize the phenols by chucking the wood shavings into the oven, or the shavings will catch on fire?

If we vapourize all the phenols then it's just plain wood for the hamster isn't it?
