Anyone have any experience with Marriot Vacation Club?

I was offered (and booked) 3D/2N stay at their Ritz Carlton Millenia for SGD398 nett (anytime in 2015) in exchange for spending 1.5hr listening to their marketing pitch. Just wondering if its another nonsense club...
