I've been using this lappy for almost 20 hours a day before the warranty expires. Will see whether any problem arise.
But will continue to extend the warranty cos i'm still worried of the Nvidia parts problem. Warranty does include the GPU right?

Just ran a little test on Dead Space™ by EA.

Software used:-
- Dead Space™
- FRAPS 2.9.4
- Windows Vista SP1
- Forceware 180.42

The settings are:-
- 1280x800
- Settings: High
- Vsync: Off

Results:-
Default clock (475/950/400) - 30FPS Average (Min: 22FPS)
Overclocked (650/1300/530) - 40FPS Average (Min: 31FPS)

Temperature (Max):-
(Overclocked) - 72 C

The game is perfectly playable using 8600M GT DDR2. It seems that the scaling is linear to the clock speed of the card.

Is there anyway to enable AA in this game? Even with the ingame AA (Edge AA) the game is still jaggy.

If you know what you're doing then there's not much risk OC-ing. From my experience (I've tried it on various Inspiron 1520), the 8600M GT can be OC'ed to at least 630/1260/500 safely.

As for the guide to clean your heatsink and fan, I think the manual that came with your DELL™ will have the details on how to clean it. As an alternative, you can check DELL™ Inspiron 1520 Manual website for the online manual. It's quite detailed and will provide enough information on how to remove the laptop components.

I am using rivar tuner , and i tune it to 630/1260/500 for the performence 3D , how about low 3D and 2D?

And how to monitor the temperature in game? Like monitor the FPS using Fraps?

Thanks in advance

There's no need for you to change the low 3D and 2D. When a game is ran, it'll change to Performance 3D profile.

You can use HWMonitor to monitor your max temperature. Open HWMonitor before running the game, then after 30-60 minutes, quit the game and check HWMonitor for the maximum temperature.

Is it good to use Rivartuner?

My computer went blank after restart , and i think this software is causing the problem , uninstalled it now , but it still blank .

I am using Vista Home edition 32 bit.

Hmm , any good software to overclock other than that?

Hmm, I've not heard of Rivatuner causing blank screen. Personally I think another software or update is causing that problem.

You can try ATITool. It allows ingame temperature monitoring too.

Hmm, it's very weird. I've not seen such an error before.

You can try using Checkdisk to check your HDD and see whether there's any corrupted file.

Open cmd.exe and run this command:-
CODE
chkdsk C: /r

Problem solved by using the repair features in my Vista disk , it restore me to the point before i uninstall and installed some software ,so its really hard to find out whats the source of the problem.

Anyway , i installed the rivartuner again , and use it to overclock and monitor my temperature , it reach 78 max after about an hour of intensive game play , but it never reach 80.

I was kinda envy you guys are able to do it with 72C , ho you guys did it?
