im planning to upgrade my iphone (2G) 1.1.4 to 2.0 FW, i have been searching a lot of sites but still confuse, can give me some quidance?

Ok. First, go through the following link and download the necessary files & applications such as Winpwn 2.5, boot logos (for iphone reboot and recovery mode), Bootloader images 3.9BL and 4.6BL and iphone firmware version 2.0 to which you want to upgrade. I just upgraded few days back to 2.0 and I strongly recommend upgrade ONLY up to 2.0 firmware and not 2.0.1, 2.0.2 or 2.1 versions.

You need to upgrade first and then only u can unlock, jailbreak it. Upgrade, unlock and jailbreak instructions are mentioned in the above guide links provided. Please read them carefully. I assume that you have iTunes 7.7 or above installed on your system before you proceed.

LoL...u shouldn't upgrade to 2.0..
The best and most stable for the moment is 2.0.1 for windows user..
and 2.1 for MAC users...

You can go through the whole thread if still not convinced Anyways, it is really funny to hear that higher firmware version is stable and previous version isn't. Never read that before in case of firmwares or software applications too.

hi there mals. have u pwn your iphone before this? or this is your 1st time?

if you new, please follow this guide.

recommended using basic mode since winpwn 2.5 provide user either using basic or expert mode.
follow trough the guide and make sure you have the pre-requirement before performing it.

requirement: u must be on itunes 7.7 which is for firmware 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2. a valid 2g iphone firmware (if u using the 1st gen iphone) and also the bootloader of 3.9 and 4.6. and of course, winpwn 2.5

winpwn concept is very simple. the program modify the firmware it self to perform activation, jailbreaking and unlocking. also known as custom firmware which is been modify earlier before you install it on your phone. this method is considered the safest way to obtain status of a/j/u without any risk of bricking or damaging your iphone. if you do the right way of course.

reminder. once you update it up to 2.0, revert back to 1.1.4 state is quite difficult.

I know that 2.1 isn't that good for jb now..
But 2.0.1 is definately better than 2.0 as it fix the 2.0 lagginess..
I myself is using 2.0.1..

I have upgraded to 2.1 and also jailbroken it..Its working but cant call out or receive call as there is no signal in the signal bar..what should I do?

Yes..a whole lot's of bug fixes on Fw 2.1. As for Installer 4, is major buggy. Cydia is all good.

is 2.1 really that good? sometime back a lot were saying that its not stable yet..now i thought of upgrading to 2.1 and i wanna try out the light saber game that was just released on itunes but it can only support 2.1..

Yes kmheing..is worth the upgrade. Fw 2.1 is stable as many are using. Slight delay on launching sms. Not a problem at all.

Also, Masamune and TeK_Ken are upgrading too by this week or next.

a quick question here... how much FREE disk space the max can we get on partition 1 after using bosstool? (with no apps at all, just default apps - cydia+installer+bosstool)

QuickPwn doesn't have the disk space adjustment huhu~

well, the default should be 500mb for the system disk size since ur using quickpwn. not sure if + the os thought. btw, welcome onboard to 2.1 bro korn
