Yeah ,ilovelyn has just asked the question i curious about

Is that recommended to buy from lyn garage sales or straight walk in to digi center ...So it would be like RM200 right ?
*
I'm not sure if DiGi sells the modem as a standalone product, probably you need to sign up with a package beforehand?
You can get cheaper ones from Garage Sales. smile.gif

i got a few question that want to ask about is

1) Will It able to run in USB Broadband Modem??

2) Will it able to support the PPSTREAM in my laptop??

3) My area (KUCHING, SARAWAK) just support EDGE only... No 3G... So how fast are the EDGE??(how many kb it will be able to run if i download file using "XUNLEI" "讯雷"  Application)
vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  Why malaysia internet speed is so damn slow .....
*
1) Yes, provided the modem is unlocked to all telco.

2) Yes, but will keep buffering on EDGE.

3) 220kbps maximum. 8 bits = 1 Byte... hmm.gif Around 20kB/s.

p/s: Recently PPS doesn't work on my DiGi 3G anymore. hmm.gif Anyway, I'm not a big fan of PPS. biggrin.gif

@fruitie ,do u know which hp can support 3g can it is reasonable price ?budget like RM300-400
*
Sony Ericsson has a lot of models that support 3G BUT most of them don't support EDGE too... So you gotta check properly. sweat.gif laugh.gif

On another hand, I'm really happy with my modem. wub.gif Been using it for nearly two years and still going strong. rclxms.gif

Yes, can. smile.gif I'm using it now but you have to ensure your modem is unlocked to all telcos, which is most likely it is. smile.gif

QUOTE(ilovelyn @ Dec 21 2009, 08:05 PM)
may i know what the difference between hsdpa and hsupa??
if use Dcampus should i buy hsdpa modem or hsupa??
*
HSDPA = High Speed Downlink Packet Access
HSUPA = High Speed Uplink Packet Access.
Basically, there is no HSUPA modem in the market, the common one will be HSDPA, since Malaysian broadband services focus on high download speed. However, DiGi is the first one that starts with HSPA which means high speed in both download and upload. HSPA = HSDPA+HSUPA
Usually HSPA modems are much more expensive than HSDPA modems. For now, HSDPA is sufficient already. smile.gif Even DiGi mentions that it introduces HSPA but I can see that the upload speed is still not that high. Probably the expansion hasn't completed yet. smile.gif
So, my advice is stick to HSDPA modems. smile.gif

thanks fruitie..
i ask because i search got ppl selling hsdpa and also got selling hsupa in garage sale there..
*
Ah ha, so I was wrong, there is dedicated HSUPA modem? So far I see only HSDPA and HSPA modems are available in the market. HSPA = HSDPA+HSUPA

*
Yeah, supposedly it is a HSPA modem. hmm.gif

is Dcampus 3G speed same as broadband speed??
*
I think DiGi Broadband speed is more than 1Mbps but DiGi 3G is using 3G speed so it is around 400kbps but it is sufficient for one person's usage. biggrin.gif

How about GPRS speed ??
*
GPRS is below 100kbps and it is very unlikely to get it, most of the places are at least equipped with DiGi EDGE. smile.gif

QUOTE(ilovelyn @ Dec 26 2009, 01:38 AM)
ya.. gprs and edge speed how??
*
GPRS = Below 100kbps
EDGE = Around 220kbps

erm.. having a problem here..

im a digi campus user in University of Nottingham..

about the rates and charges.. does it apply only when i am in my university area?

cos now im at my hometown.. and the charges are like normal digi prepaid plan..

i don get free calls after rm2 usage.. so my credit is like deducted overall.. T.T
*
Yeah, it is no longer zone based, one flat rate anytime, anywhere.
Check your plan from *128# and see whether it is DiGi Campus or not.
Err... Do you have any freebies? It will deduct your freebies first. smile.gif

The birthday bonus is pretty useless for data user right? It will suck all your birthday bonus first and will only stop charging after you have used up all your freebies + RM30 on your main credit account?
*
Yes, it will deduct by calculating 10sen/kb, so do the math. laugh.gif

It is DiGi Customer Service Careline.
It is free of charge if you use any of DiGi number else normal call rate applies if you use other telco line to call. smile.gif

It is 10sen/10kb but DiGi Campus caps at RM 30, any usage more than that will not be charged. So basically, it is RM 30 = 3Mb. smile.gif
