Sorry if this sounds stupid, what options from the menu do you have when setting up the monitor? I might be able to give you my little opinion if you can list them out. I used to play on a 32 inch 2000:1 contrast LCD TV, couldn't take it, got a 50 inch 5000:1 LCD TV, still not happy with it and sold them for a 24 inch 50000:1 LCD monitor.

technophile is spot on about the cable, so don't worry too much about it.

It's Acer's G24.. pretty cheap as well compared to other 24", RM1388.

Yeah, figures means nothing much. But so I'm quite satisfied with it so far, batter than most LCD TVs I've tested with so far if size is put aside.

And I happen to sit right in front of my monitor, about 2-3 feet away at most tongue.gif Like I always said, figures means nothing much for contrast ratio. At the end of the day it's your satisfaction you can get is the most important. There's another topic that discuss calibration on the same monitor you are using now TC, may be you should take a look at it.

I use a very simple method to test out the contrast ability by keeping the same contrast setting and compare Blue Dragon's title screen and Gears of Wars campaign mode's opening (details in the cell). I think both are at opposite extremes thus a good indicator. Of course, I could always use the calibration DVD to make more accurate judgment, but I'm not so sure how to enter LCD monitors' serviceman mode, if they have that, so it's pointless.

What SSJBen meant was the image won't be stretch to change the ratio of the display, it will still come out with the native ratio of 16:9. What you are confused with are stretching and scaling. A non 1080i/p source will be scaled to 1080p on that monitor without stretching the image, retaining a 16:9 aspect ratio, while most other 24 inchers have 16:10 ratio, and image will be stretched to get full screen (looks taller).

Hi there, i got 2 DVD player, 1st one AudioVisio conect with VGA cable working find. 2nd player AGIB conect with same VGA cable the display came out the image only Red & black color, try both monitor & dvd player all the set up setting still can not display in full color, anyone know abt this? I'm using Xbox360 elite HDMI no problem at all. GOOD monitor.

Added on October 10, 2008, 11:15 ami also use a HDMI Philips Dvd player, GOOD.

About the red and black problem: Does the AGIB allows you to choose output component (YPbPr) or RGB? I think that's the problem.

Anyone use it for PS2? Use what cabel conection? How the image quality?

I think i try that too. no change. sweat.gif

PS2 I use either component or RGB through SCART cable. Both very good, in fact the best you can get from it. I can't remember what's the name for the Japanese digital cable, very hard to come by and only compatible with selected Japanese TV. Never tried that, but I could only guess it will be equal or better than component & RGB.

I can't think of any reason for your ABIG not working right.. red and black.. naturally bring me to conclude there isn't enough green thus the component vs RGB issue.

Scart cables are cheap, $4.99 from play-asia.com. The problem is looking for a TV/monitor that accept RGB through Scart connection.
