Uhm there are hardly any LCD Monitors(mind you, NOT TVs) that has anything more than a typical 3000:1 contrast ratio. Infact, 1000:1 on a TN panel is considered very good. You want higher contrast ratio? You gotta pay up for a TV.
Monitors just don't cut it, because no one sits 10 feet away from a 24 inch monitor now do they?
Dynamic Contrast Ratio in a whole, is marketing gimmick. Only BenQ and LG does justice to DCR right now, their DCR features actually DO work unlike the marketing tricks especially Samsung that has been lying to customers long enough.

Not really, contrast ratio does mean quite a bit for TVs. Not so for monitors.
If you truelly want absolute black levels, the only way it to get a projector or one of those Pioneer Kuro. If not, be happy with what you have.

QUOTE(TypeR @ Sep 24 2008, 11:21 PM) Just asking whom have the Dell S2409W play with PS3 connected to the PC LCD monitor using HDMI-DVI converter? How's the quality of the picture & sound compare to PS3 direct connect to HDMI PC LCD monitor? Because I'm planning to buy... Just direct HDMI from PS3 to S2409W laaa.... no adapters or switch-through cables needed. Read up Hwaorang5's review to find out more.

QUOTE(oyama @ Oct 8 2008, 12:44 PM) @hwoarang - as dis monitor doesn't have 1:1 mapping..game on ps3 will look stretch a bit? i'm planning to buy lcd monitor..but benQ 16:9 lcd monitor quite tempting.. All PS3 games are in 16:9 aspect ratio natively(eventhough many games have awkward native res). So no stretching in this case as the monitor is also 16:9 aspect ratio. Games that are locked in 720p(and cannot be "forced" into 1080p) will be automatically upscaled by the monitor itself. From what I've seen, the upscaler of the S2409W is rather good.
