I am doing a research on Malaysians' Perception on people with tattoos as it has always been a supposition and theory on how the Malaysia society perceives and stereotype people with tattoos and body art. I would like to ask you guys here a few questions.
1. Why did you get a tattoo?

2. Do you frequently dress up to cover your tattoos?Why?

3. What are your own perception on people with tattoos?

4. Do you treat them differently?Why?

tatto is cool...

1. i din have a tattoo but would like 2 make 1 or few maybe...

2. if u ady have a tattoo, just reveal it...let others c it...wat for u make a tattoo n hide it? unless u working in office then u need wear long sleeves shirt 2 cover it...

3. tattoo is cool on my point of view...especially girl with a tattoo on her back waist...very seducing...
but if make lots of messy tattoo, looks like "Hung Hing" ady...

4. treat them as usual...we look at them mayb coz their tattoo is cool...but some religion din allow it, mayb tats y they stare differently...

I dont have a tattoo and I dont want to one cause I dont feel good or comfortable permanently marking my bodies with artworks. I guess people who have tattoos wanted to express themselves in a form of art and memories embedded onto the skin last as long as the color doesnt fade.

I think they are normal people who are more expressive of who they are and not afraid to show it via their tatoos.

No. Unless if say their entire body is full of tatoos, I might cos that's a kinda scary.. >"<

just like all those "Hung Hing" taiko says, make tattos all over the body in case they been chopped in pieces, the police still can recognise tat body from the tattoos...

So spiritual purposes....Mine was traditional tattoos

Sometimes, depends who i m with....Some ppl who understands then i wont mind showing and explaining...

Nothing...But i kinda don't really like gals with tattoos...

Yes, i treat them with respect because it is like god on my body.....

I m fine toward ppl wit tattoo..
they have their reason to ink their body.
Someday I would love to ink 'RA' with perfect design = combination of my parentz name.

For me it's more marking the transition and something I want to remember in my life. The 1st one is me making a huge leap from my old job, the second is my trip to Thailand, making a few good friends and brothers.

The 3rd one is this, haven't finish the artwork properly yet. But this is to be done after I marry my GF.



The 4th and final one is when I got my children.....it's going to be a full back, a family tree. The artwork is in process also. Hehehehe.

But who know's maybe the amount of tattoo I have will grow to mark certain other stuff. Life is very uncertain.

By the way anybody know where got good tattoo artist who can do touch up? My first tattoo is fading and the work is alittle rough.....don't think I want to go back to the old place back.

Your research will be mostly focusing on people with age below 30 I think (that's the majority in this forum). If you ask around 40+ people, you may get different opinions LOL.

1. I got a tattoo because I have always like the idea of carrying a living art. Not only that, its part of my heritage as a Bidayuh (Sarawakian). The design I chose was also something that is personal to me because it symbolizes a turning point in my life.

2. No I don't dress up to cover my tattoo. However, I won't tattoo in an obvious place like face or arms because it might be too open

3. I think people with tattoos are people who are committed - they can commit to having that design on them for the rest of their life. Not only that, they are creative. Most are open minded and they're cool

i'm in the united states now

and people wierdly,,love other people with tattoos or piercings

girls come up to me and just comment on my snakebites in college

and if you have a tattoo or piercings ,guys and girls respect the pain and decision you make..very different from malaysia. This is because of the culture i think,most tattoos are owned by gangs so their perception is twisted. However,in America,everyone has tattoos..even my lecturer,,25 year old women has whole arm tattoo and 3 on neck.

Respect those have tattoo in their neck but feel like alien when see ppl has a tattoo on or above their butt

only soldier should tattoo. When your body are blown to pieces by rounds of armour piecing bullet or left to rot after being slaughtered, face swollen like a pig, maggot crawling out from your eye socket like in Rambo 4, u can still be identified. Otherwise just for decoration, u make us soldier feel belittled. Hope this help on your research.
