I think O2 used to have a plan which the user could use the monthly voice call allowance to make international call but I think they stopped offering this already. I usually buy IDD cards from the shops.
It depends on your usage, really. If you don't make calls or send text very often, then prepaid is the one you should go for. Many sign contracts to get the phone.
