Car insurance is very subjective, esp if you have non UK driving license. It can be between £100 to £1k.
Malaysia, and other commonwealth countries are allow to drive in UK within a year after entering UK, after that, it is illegal to drive in UK.
Car paint job? no idea how much.

abt gbp1.2k for the second to smallest sized car (e.g. VW polo, ford fiesta etc) per year for non-uk license holder or new UK license holder with 0 year NCB (no claim bonus).
Thanks a lot, appreciate the replies. Man its my 2nd year here, with visa of course, does that mean its illegal for me to drive on the streets hmph
yep insurance is a must, isnt it ? and pretty expensive!

*****RENEWING UK VISA*****

Guys, I previously had a UK Visa for 2 years, and now I have completed my degree and my visa is coming to a due. I am going back to UK this september again for another course (BARVOCATIONALcourse)

So how do I renew my UK Visa for another year ? Do I have to go through all the troubles when I first apply for a UK visa ? Can anyone guide me on this ...?

from all the answers, it is expensive to renew my visa in UK. so It'd be better if i do it in Malaysia ? (BTW, im in malaysia now)

I was doing my Law degree, completed. And now will be doing BAR, a different course this coming september. So i guess, like what youngkies said, as this is a new course, i would have to go through the application as a new visa.

omg from what I remembered, it's a lot of trouble !!!

April i think, i was one of the 'lucky' one too when i applied for my student visa in March. After that it was really an ass to apply one as most of my friends experienced.

Right now i'm part of it too cos i wanna extend my visa here for master, 55 pages of form rclxub.gif

same situation here, i think its 3xx pounds if you apply by post and it takes months but you will still be legal here as long as you submitted the application before your current visa expires.

But i would like to get it done in malaysia. possible ? cus im having my break now. i dont wanna go through all the trouble of applying/renewing my visa when im in UK. any ideas ?

I wouldn't be asking here if its that easy. I want people with experience to tell me. I tried googling and everything cost more than 300quid.

ANYWAY, here's my question again smile.gif

you can't, the only way you can renew your visa in uk is to have a general student visa which require your offer letter.

for tourist you can come in without a visa for a maximum stay of 6 months and you can't apply for any sort of visa as a visitor here.

i renewed mine in uk having applied for general student visa in malaysia, it cost 357 pounds by post and 5xx for walk in
*
okay thats something unexpected. I thought i could go there on february with a visitor visa for 6 months, or i was thinking of getting a visa as a student surveying any kind of university course in UK, and then renew my visa when i got my real offer letter on july the earliest for my course. Can I do this ?

350quid is still fine. that seems like a better and cheaper option rather than walking in to apply.

what do ppl here suggest I should do ?

my situation is a bit complex. i have a visa from 09/09 until 02/11. but i had to withdraw. so because im no longer a student to the university i initially applied for. i dont think my visa is still valid.
but i want to go UK on february to continue living there and start course of september 2010 and i guess i can get my offer letter by august 2010, because i previously deferred my place from 2009 to 2010. so im guaranteed an offer letter.

well ??? some help wud be greatlyyyy appreciated!
