No it won't blow. But it'll definitely spoil due to the low bass sound and it's gonna sound bad too.Just get a guitar amp for guitar and a bass amp for bass guitar.

i dont mind if the quality is compromised
as long as i can crank up the volume for both bass and electric for a 50~60 crowd then will be alright..

i`ve read abt keyboard amps have good low responses

so i dont think the bass would be a problem right?

while i have a pedal for my electric to make some effect...

lets make something clear,
i wont blow the speaker if i play both instrument together?
the only CONS i`ll have is not so good sound quality?

You WILL ruin the speakers.Simple as that.If played at low volumes, the speakers would probably last longer but if you're playing at high volumes, the speakers will die.

owh..
sad then
cos i have a low budget and need to get a guitar amp and a bass amp
so i thought of getting a keyboard amp to solve my problem
guess i dont have a choice huh...

but i`ve read from some website where keyboard amps and bass amps frequency range are almost the same..
infact keyboard amps can cover the low and the highs
while bass only the lows and not good with highs

i thought the will do well?

so really cant? rclxub.gif

i agree. actually i think i spoilt my dads guitar amp coz i played my bass thru it. when u crank up the volume, the speakers cant really handle the low freqs and may result in it cracking. i guess mine is spoilt, but i havent told my dad yet hoping he wont find out icon_question.gif

anyway, about your k/b amp handling bass guitars, i'm not sure about it but i guess to some extent it is true.
but my question is, you are gonna use the amps to fill up the room for about 50-60 ppl?
i dont think its a good idea. cant u mix it to the main systems?
if u use the amp to power the whole room, u'll be loud in the front (and for you) while soft behind.

my recommendation is just to line in the bass to the main systems. then get a budget amp for your electric guitars. maybe 40watts? just to hear yourself, and mike up that guitar amp for the front of house.

ermm i read abt guitar amps cant handle bass due to the frequency range
bass is too low dats why will boom...
but keyboard amp is diff it covers a while range...

ermm the mixer has 5 jacks
and 4 used of mic

ermm
abt the bass amp i think i`ll use the existing keyboard amp

so i`ll just get an electric guitar amp..
how much power do i need to fill the whole room for electric guitar?
50w is enough?

about the k/b's that may be true. but better safe than sorry. maybe the better k/b amps can handle bass freqs but then the budget models may not handle it so well.

u got spare wan, u can plug in the bass thru a DI box mah.
u can try using the k/b amp, but go safe and dont blast it.

well as i said above, u can do anything wan. whether its practical is another matter.
u put 50watts, the front guy can hear loud loud, behind maybe soft soft.
u want behind to hear u crank it up, the front guy + stage goes deaf biggrin.gif

u the sound guy ah? where your church again?

that was my suggestion. but his mixer only 5 channels, and 4 are taken up by mics already.

u have to remember that amps are for the player only. not for the front of house / main hall.

the laney bass amp RB3 has a DI socket while the Guitar amp LX65D has a line out
these 2 have any diff a?

might as well get a better upgraded mixer? maybe 8 channel? and a few DI's. u can get DI boxes for both guitar i think. not sure abt guitar but bass got a ton of brands make and model. the cheapest. you could get a Hartke VXL that got a XLR DI or maybe those multi effect with xlr output like Zoom B2.1u or something

as for guitar not sure.

good investment in the long run

DI box is to balance the signal. a balanced signal can travel further without losing the strength of the signal. this helps if your PA is located far from the stage. sometimes the lineout is not a balanced signal, and that is when u need a DI box to balance the signal.

line out from the amp and DI box is usually the same. if they say its a balanced signal out from the amp, then it should be a balanced signal already coming out from it.

if u use the DI, then i guess u can use the last channel on the mixer. but i guess u have to plan out the future needs of the church. better to spend a little now and have room for expansion later.

cheap DI box is by behringer. they are quite good performing budget DI's.

err not gonna upgrade at the moment ba

we have this Behringer 180w keyboard amp
they have an XLR output

if i plug my bass into the amp

will it be alright?

i have this in mind

direct plug my bass into the amp den use the XLR output to the PA

so this way i dont have to get the DI box right?

The keyboard amp has both an XLR input and XLR output..

so wad do you guys think?

actually, the only reason i asked u to DI box and send to the mixer is so that u dont have to use an amp. if u wanna use the k/b amp, then that will be the monitor for the bassist. then when u output from the amp to the mains, that is for the whole place.

if the output is balanced, then good. u dont need a DI box. but if its unbalanced, then u may have a problem with the signal if the mixer is too far behind.

its safer/better to use a DI box, but it is not a must.

how did u blast it? usually amps wont die unless the signal is distorted (i think) or they handle too low frequencies that they not designed to handle.

i believe yes ler. u try softly first just to be safe.

it wont kill the PA. make sure that the gain settings on the mixer is at the appropriate level, and everything will be fine.
mic the amp or lineout the amp?

Hey,

Tumpang thread. I'm looking a guitar amp for personal use. Playing at home. I see Roland MicroCube is the most recommended one but I want something bigger. LOL. I mean higher watts, like 20w-30w? Are Laney amps good?

my suggestion is ...if ur really ona budget, geta huge ass bass amp. bass amp has low frequencies so it can tahan highs and lows. simple theory is ...bass amp can play guitar and bass.....guitar amp cannot play bass but can play guitar only. so means the bass amp is the most tahan lasak, its built to tahan slapping popping bass lines which will KOYAK the amp if ur amp is not good. so here u go, HUGE ASS bass amp =) its from my experience i used my bass amp 180 watts for bass guitar and keyboards too ..sometimes accoustics lol.

But Bass amps don't do distortion well. waaaaaaaaaay too boomy.

If you want something with bigger watts, try out the Vox Valvetronix line. The 15VT and 30VT in particular, sounds very good with it's 22 amp settings. It's definitely highly recommended here as well.

But if you like the sound of the microcube, you can always upgrade to the Cube series from Roland as well, but for my money, the Vox series sounds smoother because of the valve inside.

Sorry if someone answered this already,

I've tried double plugging a bass and a keyboard into a single keyboard amp, the end result?

Really bad low end, don't even bother trying it, unless u want the bass to just play for show-show only la, coz really cannot hear any low end.

even if just the bass itself to the keyboard amp already quite bad, dont waste your time.

definately, coz the keyboard amp is not really suited to handle the booming bass sounds of the bass guitar.
maybe some low-end from a keyboard, but not full flat low ends.

Just get a cheap 15 watt amp for the electric or the bass and turn on the max volume. It won't sound as good but better than exploding your amps

fender strat into fender bassman.
sounds familiar? tongue.gif

its the 15" speakers that matters.
all those 8x10 or whatever bass amps wont really cut it for guitar.
